P.S. ChelsB, I wish you the best of luck. It was easy for me. I was virtually an accidental quitter. Not everybody is so fortunate. It probably is at least partially a function of how much of your smoking habit is physical/chemical addiction vs. how much of the habit is the hand-to-mouth and ritual part.

For every smoker, I believe, this ratio is a bit different. The more you lean toward the chemical addiction probably makes it tougher to escape. If a person leans more heavily to the habit/ritual side, then vaping allows them (me) to hang onto that aspect of smoking. At least, that's my take on it.

This June, 7 years, not one.
cigalikes/cartos 33mg for first 6 months,,yes cravings.
Frankly, i can't remember what a cigarette tasted like, what the hit felt like. Can't remember if i MTLed or not.

What is weird, i dream about smoking, scary how cigs intertwine around your Psyche..
I can remember..... NASTY BURNING HEARTBURN!! I also remember i MTL'd like crazy i could hotbox a 100 in less than 2 minutes.... Funny thing is i hated MTL vaping from go... too bad the devices i use now didnt exist when i first started vaping would likely have been quit a couple years earlier instead of dual using. And because i am odd like me trying cucumbers even though i hate them i try them every few years to see if my taste changes, i tried mtl the other day and bleah didnt like it wasnt satisfying at all. Ill stick with what has kept all urges away :D

Been vaping just over a month. Every once in a while, I'd say maybe twice a week, especially at work, I'll think "I might bum a cig off someone." But it normally goes away pretty quick. I wouldn't call them intense cravings, or even cravings, really. Just the thought sometimes that a cig might be nice.

I really struggled the first few months after I switched to vaping. I remember getting nic sick from chain vaping through smoke pangs. It was about a year and a half before I really got confident I was over my smoking addiction.

I still hang out with the smokers when I can. Still enjoy the smell of burning tobacco, not so much cig-breath on smokers, but I'll never hold that against anyone. Heck, that was me 5 years ago ... and if I could quit there's hope for most smokers out there

Hang in there Chels, you're well on your way and now it's just a matter of a bit more time

Been smelling good for 4 months now. For the first 2 I'd get a craving 1 or twice a day. Now they come out of the blue twice a week say. But they fade so quickly too.

I smell a smoke and smokers from miles away and it does absolutely nothing for me. The thought of a cigarette is repulsive, but the cravings still come. I expect to get them forever, so if I don't it's a bonus.

was a half to one pack of Reds smoker a day, started vaping about a month or so, my first kit was the aspire premium kit gifted by a friend, first week vaping, the experience was meh (I blame the incosistent nauti mini coils/their QC, whichever), still craving a cig (or three) like hell every single day.
at around 2 weeks point, I did a little research and ended up getting iStick Pico 75W and my first rebuildable, Serpent Mini. I have not crave a cig ever since, I tried lighting up a Marlboro Red few days ago, the taste was unbearable, I felt like licking an ashtray :/
Now im settled with my Serpent Mini+Evic Primo combo and a couple of 3mg 60ml juices :D

It's really freaky that you'd bring this up now. I've been vaping for 5 years and haven't had the urge to smoke since the first couple weeks after I switched to vaping. Last night I was on another forum and a guy posted a picture of something with an unfiltered Camel next to it for size comparison. I occasionally smoked unfiltered Camels and Lucky Strikes, and his pic triggered a strong memory in me. I remembered what it was like when I'd tear the cellophane and foil off a new pack and how GOOD the unfiltered Luckies would smell (until you lit them, lol). I suddenly had a terrible urge to smoke one. I loaded up some 18mg that I keep around for stressful situations, vaped for about 10 minutes, and I was okay again. Today the urge is totally gone, and I'm back to being totally grossed out by the idea of smoking, but it shows you how addictive those things really are (the last time I smoked an unfiltered Lucky was back around 1999-2000). :(

The Whole Tobacco Alkaloid (WTA) helps some with cravings.
It might be good to have some on hand.
I, too, sometimes feel like a cig, even after 5 years of vaping. I resist and just go hide out and power vape for a while. I really felt like i could never ever quit cigs, so, I do not care if I get a little light headed by power vaping. Power vaping for me is every other breath is a vape. All-in-all it works for me. Good luck and vape on.
Power vape for 3-5 days every time i dropped my nic level. Now TOTALLY nic free almost 14 months.

Vaping for over seven years. There were several times in the first 6 months or so when I absent-mindedly started looking for my lighter or smokes. But, it was purely a reflex kind of thing and not accompanied by any actual craving. After smoking for 35 years the habit was probably as strong, or stronger, than the addiction. I believe that's why vaping was so successful.

So, that accounts for the first half year of my vaping experience. In the 6.6 years that have followed, I have had zero cravings. And zero incidents of absent-mindedly thinking about lighting up. Seriously.
Vaping is a complete replacement for smoking,; instead of a partial replament such as nicotine Patches, gum, etc.

I still have a smoke when I want one bad enough. I still like the first drag or two a lot and try to remember to pay attention because this is only once. I kind of think of it as another flavor of inhale (excellent but does interfere with the others and has a an extra bad aftertaste) and also sometime medicinal. Originally I thought it was relief from long-term addiction effects to have maybe one a month but now I think it's a stronger tool against certain forms of tension that I can still use without getting sick from it being that I still use some nicotine.

If I didn't smoke, vape or anything I'd be scared as hell of having a cig, but as things are I find no tendency to want another. In fact I tend to find myself wanting a good vape within seconds of putting the thing out.

Morning, after meals but that's not half as bad as the cig cravings with booze. Ashamed to say that sometimes I end up doing when drinking but yet it tastes vile!
I've been vaping on & off for 8 years but only fully enjoyed it when using duel battery devices since last year an now I've discovered that mtl an high nic helps with those pesty cravings when drinking.
I have bad chest pains an stomach aches when smoking the stinkies, the health risk isn't nearly as bad when smoking.
My grandad has been vaping for 3 years an it makes him so much healthier an he is my main inspiration to keep vaping.

I better stop reading this thread. It's giving me cravings....:)

Yup! I was thinking the exact same thing!

I have some SC French Pipe mixed up with caramel and vanilla for just such an occasion as this. That'll fix me up in a jiffy

Going on 6 years since I dropped the smokes in April 2011. I wanted a Provari V2 and promised myself that when it arrived I'd finish the last pack and quit. The Provari was delivered and I finished that last pack. I haven't touched a cig since and haven't had a craving in all that time. I was a 2PAD smoker for over 40 years prior.

It's all in getting your head wrapped around health and vaping. It's the mouth to hand habit that we are addicted to. Vaping satisfies that for me. I continued to vape 24mg juice for a couple of years after that.

Buy something you've always wanted and make a promise to yourself that once you get it you have to quit and never look back. High nic in a vape with no tar is a smoke ender.

A couple of years ago I tapered the nic down to 3mg by dropping my vendor nic one level each time I made my monthly juice order. I stabilized at 3mg strength.

Funny part about lowering the nic was that at each level I was fine with no nic cravings. I went from 24mg to 18mg to 12mg to 6mg and then to 3mg. At no point did I crave more nic. I just vaped a little more if I thought I needed it. I've been at 3mg for couple of years or more.

@ceeceeisme I love vanilla flavours and custard. Two flavours I often use :)

& that's a big leap, I started on 24mg an now on 6mg but sometimes I use 12mg with my nautilus, drinking give me such strong cravings :(

I've never had a provari, I got off cigs with an evod :)

How long did it take you to go from 24 mg to 6 mg?

I've been vaping since 18 an I'm now 26 but I have smoked inbetween (when drinking.)
So quite a few years, the cigalike failed greatly an I got an evod 4 years ago an that changed things for me. The curve 40w got me onto 12mg, I've only been using 6mg for a year an still sometimes need 12mg. It's hard sometimes
