I have learned about mental focus and I have used it over the years. For me, I became disgusted with the whole smoking thing. Actually, I am not around it much and when I vaped in a smoking area, I even stepped 5-10 feet away. I just did not want it anymore. It effected my health, my family, my work, my career. I got an attitude, I planned it, woke up the next day and that was it.

I think a mental attitude helped me. Even if I quit vaping, I won't give my last stuff away. I may not wear a life preserver, but there is one in my boat.

Back when i first tried vaping i couldnt stay 100% on vape but that was more because of the device and vapor production than anything.. now it is easier to will power through it but the idea of actually smoking after a second of though is just disgusting. Last time i was smoking i looked forward to the end of them they were so nasty tasting.

I remember something that happened at about my 2-3 month point. First, I was a 42 year heavy smoker. I have a couple of apple trees and my wife makes a killer apple crumb cake.

Now, even though I had not had a smoke for 2-3 months, one evening I had a tremendous craving after eating a piece of that cake. I know of no peer reviewed research that shows a direct correlation between apple crumb cake and tobacco cravings, but I can assure you there is a link.

I think that was the last time in 4 1/2 years that I have had that much of a craving.

Once or twice a week, and I still like the smell of cigarette smoke.

Me too! But is has to be fresh. I don't like the smell of someone after they've had a cig! Husband, I'm talking about you! [emoji38] oh yeah, he's not on this forum

My wife and I had a deal. Every November on the Sunday when the time changed (that hour doesn't count right?) we would go out on the patio and have a cigar.

The first year (only 2 months after we started vaping) it was like "yeah, that's what I'm talkin about."

The second year it was, meh.

The third year we could not put them out soon enough, yuck.

That ended that tradition.

Forgot to mention i also get the cravings every time i step my Nic down. I started at 12 went to 6 spent a couple years there stepped down to 3 spent a couple years there right now at 1.5 although this time the step down didnt cause as many urges

Maybe it has something to do with me changing from 18 mg to 12 mg a few weeks ago. I would've thought I'd be used to the new dose by now

As I approach my three year mark this month, I will say I just had a major craving last week. I'm a tootle puffer and still use my protank 2 as my major go to device. For some stupid reason every coil I put in would flood and then leak juice when I turned it upside down to clear it out. I was getting frustrated that the gear wasn't working right and longed for the simplicity of cigarettes. I just swapped over to my REO and had some good puffs to calm me down. Since then, things have been back to normal. When I first quit, I was told to beware of the threes: three hours, three days, three months and then three years. Those are the most challenging. Fortunately, the next there is three decades and if I cave after thirty years and smoke one, I will not be too worried.

That's why I always have a couple of setups ready to go just in case something goes wrong. I also make sure to have a dripper ready.

Excellent idea with the dripper. Now I have another excuse to get more drippers![emoji4]

Oh my, you haven't converted DH to ecigs yet? I am sure you must be trying or at least setting an example.

Must have been hard to switch yourself while living with an active smoker.

The last craving I had was at a staff Xmas party over a year ago. I was vaping away on the patio surrounded by smokers, having a few ummmm....waters....and the next thing I knew I was asking a coworker for a smoke. I took 3 puffs and handed it back to him. It was disgusting, and it used to be "my brand"! That was the last time I ever even thought about a cigarette. Ive actually even made through a few days at work when Ive forgotten extra batteries or burnt out my wick...those days were not fun, so I dont forget things or dry burn my cotton anymore....but I still never wanted a smoke!:thumb:

He tried vaping for 5 days and gave up. I told him he was using the wrong device. I have all these great devices and he won't try them. So yeah, it's difficult! Especially since he smokes menthols (what I used to smoke). I was SO close to having one last night! I'm very glad I didn't!
