I will get my KGO from Dark City Vapors (the best company out there IMO) in the mail probably around 5:30pm.
There are 3 ways this seems to be able to go down:

1: Do I try to finish the day smoking analogs AND the KGO and then move to option 2.
2: Do I wait until day 2 and give it a fresh start and try to go all day?
3: Do I smoke as few analogs a day as I can and ward off nic fits with the KGO until that blessed day that I can wean to 0?

What do you think would be the most successful? I'm dying here.
How did you guys quit?

Congratulations and welcome.
vaping is such an EASY way to quit smoking, that it's almost foolproof. Many people here say that they got their ecigs, started vaping and quit analogs without even trying!
Depends what kind of person you are. Do you jump right in or do you like to start something new on a new day? Maybe you could charge everything up today, try it out and smoke your last stinkies tonight with a fresh day tomorrow? All depends on you. But don't stress, you WILL be able to quit!!! (I smoked for almost 30 years, and believe me if I and thousands like me could do it EASILY, so can you).

Backstory:
I got all my stuff from Dark City Vapors after I went to Hoosierecigsupply today and they were all out of just about everything but more specifically the only KGO they had left was Pink. I called Brent from Hoosier and he didn't seem to positive about when they would get more, he said basically in a few days. So a few days, plus a few days more to ship, and basically I'm losing more money to analogs that I don't have. I found out about Bill over at Dark City Vapors and after talking to him on the instant chat they have on his site he was able to answer ALL of my questions and even after I had to back out and leave I was able to come back and I managed to have another question at 4 in the morning and THERE HE WAS!!!! He totally helped me out and if you don't buy from him you're crazy! He promised that if my order went through tonight he would mail it by 2pm the next day (a Saturday). Crazy awesome support at DCV. He even gave me a coupon code for 5% off: ECFDCV
Brent is a cool guy though, not dissing the Hoosier - I just like NCV better.

Hardware:
I ordered a SLB KGO starter kit after doing over a month's research on the matter. I got GrimmGreen and QCAssociates (their usernames on YouTube) thumbs up on the KGO and then I saw Brent from Hoosierecigsupply running the kgo batteries on a meter and showing how they are stronger than most ego batteries. I wanted 1100 mah batteries too because running out while your out just sucks. I had previously decided to get a T-Rex Ego because the button is metal and the glowy ring is awesome but I decided against it because of the aforementioned battery situation and because it lacked a 5 button shutoff. I can't be blowing up my atomizers/cartos in my pocket that's just dumb.

Cartos/Atty:
I got 10 Boge 2.0 LR atomizers (single coil to start) because they are supposed to last longer than the other and require a less sensitive touch to keep them going. The kit also comes with 5 SLB SR Single Coil XL atomizers. So I got 15 to start. I also liked that Dark City Vapors (more on them later) didn't sell their KGO with cartridges which nobody really uses any more. It ended up being cheaper since I didn't have to order extra cartos just to get started. The extra cartos I DID order came with a 5ml bottle of free juice which is win. I picked up a 306 LR 1.7 ohm atomizer with a 306 drip tip so that I can test my DIY stuff without yucking up a carto.

Wetwork:
I also ordered 20ml of juice (3 flavors, 2x 60/40 pg/vg at 24mg and 1x 70/30 at 18mg) to get me started until my DIY supplies come in the mail. I'm using RTS vapes nic fluid (100mg PG base) and Perfumer's Apprentice flavors. I haven't ordered them yet, waiting til tomorrow to do that order. I'm getting like a 3 month supply to start. I forgot to order a mad scientist robe though! I'll do all my trial and error as far as e-juice goes at home instead of constantly needing to order new juice. I'm ordering 3 tobaccos, cappuccino, vanilla, chocolate, caramel and peanut butter to start. If I can't find a way to mix something tasty out of those than it can't be done.

Reason for quitting:
The old lady quit and she's beasting on me to do the same. I got a supply of nic gum but it tastes like $*%&@. I am currently a 1/2 to 3/4 pack a day Marlboro Black 100's smoker (a new special blend - it's like a cheap full flavor Red) of 15 years and they are killing me dead. They have given me some significant health problems and after going Vegan for 1.5 years now it's time to take the last thing off the list and start living healthier. I decided on 20 ml of 24mg juice from DCV and then I am going straight DIY for money saving purposes. I was the guy who could smoke Bugler in a pinch so flavor isn't a huge thing for me yet. I'll cope. Anyway QCAssociates on YouTube, aka Leggomyears, Shrek (love that guy!) recommended I go big on the nicotine so I'll quit smoking analogs and then scale down over time. He smoked for 40 years and he has some really good vids on YT. I trust his judgement. If he can do it after 40 years I can do it after 15. So even though I'm probably at 18mg - 24mg seemed the best choice to start.

Acknowledgments/Shameless Plug:
So that was kind of long but that's my story. If you want to hear the rest of my story you can visit me on youtube. Same name. Vape to my channel - I made it for you! Thanks for the support guys, ECF is awesome!

Dont put so much pressure on yourself. There are no rules with vaping. Just enjoy it and the smoking will take care of itself. Congrats on making the change.

Thank you. Taking a deep breath. I get the kit in a 3-4 days. Maybe day 1 will be me charging the batteries which supposedly takes 8 hours the first time... 1100mah. Knowing how life works the batteries won't have a significant charge when I get them anyway.

I just don't want to miss my opportunity to quit by slowly trying to say goodbye to analogs and then it never really happens and then I have 2 habits.

Thanks for the support - it sounds like option 2. Screw around with it on day 1 and quit on day 2. I don't get the kit for about 3-4 days so this hasn't happened yet. I'm still in the planning stage. Plus there will be the inevitable throwing away good cigarettes phase and about a pound of roll your own (pipe) tobacco I kept around for emergencies. I was considering trying to soak said tobacco in PG to make a tobacco extract flavoring from it though so I'm on the fence.

I watched the old lady quit with gum and she still smells the smoke on me and has massive cravings (especially around the full moon if you get my meaning) after 2 years smoke free. It was pretty terrible for her. I'm weak, what can I say? I need an easy button. So KGO is a good starting point until I can make my own Genesis (plans are in effect!). Plus Genesis looks a little conspicuous in public and 510 batteries are always nice to have around, so they say. I can't see myself with a genny stuffed in my pocket and trying to work.

So how do I get one of those fancy schmancy quit calculators at the bottom of my posts? Aside from getting a signature status from posting?

I think you're WAY more prepared then I was when I first started. The only thing is 20ml might be kinda small amount depending on when your DIY supplier are supposed to arrive. I think you can throw out your smokes, lighters and anything related, the second you get your stuff. I asked purely because, when I first started vaping, I threw out my smokes, only tzo realize I hated my 510-T kit, and it took a week of dealing with such an awful experience, while I tried to figure out what was wrong, and then finally get some Boge Cartos in the mail. It was an experience that would break any person. I had to inhale the scent of burning plastic for a week, the whole while and fighting with myself to not just have a smoke. Having a quality vape is definetely something I think you can accomplish with what you have:). I'd say just go for it, and don't look back.

The other thing I think you are missing is a tank system (ex: Submarine tank from Mom and Pops Vapor). It fits around your cartomizer, that you punch a hole in, with a saddle valve (7 bucks at Home Depot). It extends the life of your carto by making sure it is always wet, and keeps you from constantly refilling and topping off your carto. Since you got an 1100 mah battery, you want your juice and battery to last a long time. It's no fun constantly changing batteries, and it's pointless to get a bigger battery, and then just end up constantly filling up on juice.

Anyways: If you have any questions, we're here and good luck! :)

If there is a banner you want, from seeing other peoples banners, just click on it, and it will take you to the page. For example, if you click on mine, it will take you to provape, and in the bottom left column, you just click on "banner", and follow the directions. Then you just copy/paste the URL into your signature, via the settings option at the top of your ECF window

Congrats on your decision! From one newbie to another, you are going to be amazed at how easy it is to give up the analogs with vaping.
Sounds almost like you expect the same feeling when trying to quit with gum or patches...I smoked non-filtered for over 30 yrs. and went
nuts on the gum and patches trying to quit. This is not the same, I just figured I would have a smoke if I wanted and let the vaping work or not.
It worked!
Good luck and don't sweat the small stuff, take pride and joy in any missed analogs.

There's a guy on youtube, name of KennysManCave who shows you how to turn an old ejuice bottle into a poor man's tank and I plan to do just that as soon as I use up a bottle :) If I like the way it works I'll get a MAP tank. Though I might just make one. I'm not going to punch I'm going to slot it with my dremel.

You might find talking to me more like talking to a veteran than a newbie. I did the research on this for months and basically this entire month has been morning to night research. I wanted to be prepared so I could avoid an experience like you had (that must have sucked by the way - so sorry to hear that). I heard bad things about Ego-Ts (leaking, bad hits, and how they are more expensive to maintain i.e. attys, debridging etc...) so the KGO was my best option. I'm poor right now, I just bought a new house and I'm tired of spending good money on a bad habit.

The master plan is to make a genesis scubabat or whatever those crazy kids are calling them these days. The KGO is just a bridge to supermod heaven/eventual backup/work PV. Wait til later on when I reveal my Exodus prototype I am designing! :)

Yeah the thing that sucks about gum is that it says you can't smoke for the entire day if you chew it. I don't like losing the freedom to choose. Nobody puts Baby in the corner.

Thanks for the encouragement. I feel like I joined Vapers Anonymous. I will be sure to review the juice I'm getting from DCV as well as reveal any prizewinning juice recipes I concoct.

Best advice I can give has been has already been given. That is: don't put pressure on yourself. I smoked for 45+ years & I quit over 3 days. Basically I finished off a pack. I told myself if I wanted an analog I could have one. I'd get a craving & I vaped it away. After that pack was gone I just never bought another. After 6 months (almost) I have not had any cravings for anything but vaping (except once after 3.5 months that vaping wasn't doing it, but I vaped it away by chain vaping.)

I enjoy vaping so much more than I enjoyed smoking. I have several strengths of juice. I have lower nic (12 mg) I use when mindlessly vaping in the car. I'm a field service rep & put on over 40,000 miles a year on my company car. If I vaped full strenght while driving, I'd overdose! I have my full strenght (18 mg) for when I need to vape. I also keep some high throat hit (atomic cinnacide) in a PV for those times I need throat hit.

I wish you success in your quest to put the stinkies behind you. You have really done your homework. I've never used a KGO, but it really gets good reviews on ECF & not those fake reviews on Goggle. Remember, No Pressure!

Here's my two cents:

As a 30-year PAD smoker, I knew I had to quit, and soon.
I had been hearing about ecigs, and saw the cheapo disposables in the gas-station, and one day, bought one.
Luckily for me, it was a Blucig, which although no great shakes, was at least satisfying enough that I could
see that going the ecig route MIGHT work.

Then, Thank God, I used Google and found ECF (though had to wade through some of the crappy sites out there that use SEO to get high page ranking from Google) where I started to do some research...just lurking, mind you.
I went with an Icon and an Ego pass-through to start, and although I went through quite a bit of wel-reviewed yet absolutely disgusting juice, I fairly quickly discovered Halo, BWB, and AVE tobacco flavors, and have't looked back. I've been analog free since end of Oct 2011, and have to say I enjoy vaping much more than I did smoking, at least for the last 28 years or so....I find vaping such a relaxing and tasty way to satisfy my nicotine cravings, but its not just about the nicotine.

By the way, my doc told me that as far as she was concerned, as long as I wasn't smoking, "nicotine isn't gonna kill you", but smoking definitely will.

When i received the Icon and loaded up a carto with boba's bounty, I thought "Hell, I can do this!" as I exhaled a gigantic cloud of tasty vapor. And if i could, you can too.

We are all different. For me, I couldn't wait until I got home from work to have a stinky on those first couple of days. Then it was one every few days. Now it's been about a month without one and i can't imagine ever going back. You will do what works for you and be stinky free in no time! Congrats on your decision to switch and welcome to ECF.
