@muth, sounds like it leaked and flooded.
It's either not quite enough wicking in the wells and or where the wicking passes through into the wells. Also if your wicking isn't fluffed up in the wells it can happen somewhat.
But it can also be caused if the top section isn't properly seated on the base.
First thing to do is take off the top section @muth and try and find out what's really happening. Just remember anticlockwise to open, I do hope that you haven't done my trick of jamming up the locking mechanism. It will come apart, but is a total pain when it happens.
Only way to try and prevent it is to make sure that the o ring at the base of the deck is well lubricated and to push down the top section and turn it a little bit both ways to help get it seated and into position before turning to lock onto the base.
Hopefully you'll be able to beat it into submission though @muth.
