Thanks wolflrv!

I'm getting ready to put this in a small vise that I use with my drill press to drill the holes. I have to take the inside pieces of the adpater out first. Still trying to find the right size drill bit, I know I have one. Somewhere! If not I'll just use the one that I found that is a little bigger.

Are you refering to one of these? If so, I didn't know it was called a pin vise.

Nope...what I'm talking about is a hand tool..you can do really fine detail work with it...here's a link:

Widget Supply: Pin Vise

You can also find them at Harbor Freight, modeling shops, hobby lobby, etc..

I used my “Gummy Lathe” (Drill Press and a File), thanks Gummy, to turn down the cone threads and area above and below the cone threads of the 510~eGo adapter enough so that it was less than the thickness of the end of the adapter that the CE2 screws into. I then pressed the modified 510~eGo adapter into the delrin cap of the MAP tank, put it all together and it work just fine. No leaks, good draw, and it sits flush with my PV. It took the same size tube, 1-5/8 inches long.

So what do you think?

Edit to add;

Machining it down to to the same size or maybe just a couple of thousands bigger would be best, meaning it would hold tighter in the delrin cap, not that it is too loose either, I just didn't what to take a chance with possibly scoring the inside of the delrin cap, so I took it down a little further. I don't think leaking is an issue either, because the O-Ring seals it (above the adapter bottom part that is pressed in) as the O-Ring compresses against the inside of the delrin cap when you screw down the CE2.

Looks really good PKZ! I'm trying to figure out how that's diff from the 510-510 connector though, if you grind off the threads and taper it down? I was really pumped to see the ego-adapter cause it was pre-threaded and all I'd have to do is match the threads and tap out the delrin cap to match, which would allow for totally breaking down the unit for cleaning, plus I'd have some adjustment of the CE2 height in the tank, due to inconsistencies with manufacturing.

I also agree with using drill press or bench grinder as cheap version of a lathe. I also do mostly woodworking, so have tons of spade bits and also handy for making indented areas are Forstner bits, because they leave a flat-flush bottom. Most of this can indeed be done without a lathe, but it takes a lot more time and ingenuity...LOL!

My problem is that the stuff I want to turn is larger than the 3/4" chuck on my press. I have been thinking about getting a 2" 3 jaw chuck for the press. It is a standard MT#2 taper so that should work (along with a compound vise) and I could do a lot more than I can now. But I did find an almost new 9 x 20 lathe for 800 bucks up in Georgia but ,, I don't have 800 dollars so ,,,, crap.

Gummy...my problem is not just the cost of the lathe, but the know-how to set it up and use it. I'd at the least have to search internet for tutorials, buy a book or take a class. The little bit I've read on it, it's a huge undertaking just to get it unboxed, cleaned, setup and adjusted properly..assuming you knew what you were doing in the first place. It's a nice idea, but I can just as easily make some homemade chuck for my bench grinder or drill press that will do the small amount of stuff that I need. Learning new skills is a passion of mine, but the older I get the more selective I am about where I put my time, energy and money...LOL! And truth be told, if someone made what I was looking for, I'd just buy 2 of them and be done with all this...LOL!

You should find a machinist buddy to teach you the basics. I'd do it, but you're in Tennessee and I hear you don't like Northerners down there anyway. ;)

HAHA!! One of my buddies down here is head of the machine shop for the local vo-tech college. I already prowl around there and he makes me stuff from time to time, but I'd probably have to enroll to learn to do it myself and then there's still the cost of the equipment, once I know how...LOL!

And we're really nice to Damn Yankees as long as they behave themselves..and if not..we invite them for BBQ and then use them for target practice!! LOL!!

This Yankee has plenty of his own firearms. :D I love BBQ too.... Butchered a few pigs about a month ago with a friend of mine and have a half of one in the freezer. I've got special plans for the shoulder.
