This just may be the ultimate, as I'm not sure how it can get any better than this.
This is even better for me than the blue foam.

The blue foam actually works very well, but you have to get the right density.
Not enough material and it will leak, too much and it doesn't wick as well.

Using this method I can now stop worrying about what MIGHT be in the blue foam.

I actually tried this on my nPro. of course the cartridge is a little smaller but none the less it works! I'm thinking of using a bit of super glue to hold the spring in place. I get about 3x the liquid from my nPro now. Thanks for the find!!!

Silence just don't use superglue on your crtridge as you don't know what dangerous chemical may be mixing with the e-juice, you have to be very careful with that, remember keep it simple and innocuous...

I've been trying this in a number of ways, and I keep coming back to using a regular poly-fill (standard filler, from a cart) as my plug. The blue 'fish foam' has officially driven me to madness, as it's either too loose and leaky or too tight and dry.

Still looking for the perfect 'plug' though. There must be something out there. =]

I guess it only works well with the thick VG

this seems pointless to me after using the blue foam, since the foam doesn't move or leak and you can get more liquid in it without the spring and don't have to worry about burning the polyfil

I didn't create the blue foam idea but it works flawless for me on all 5 cartridges I plugged and filled with juice.

I guess it only works well with the thick VG

Btw the blue foam is used in aquariums and it doesn't kill the fish I am still alive after 5 days of reusing the same 5 carts when you stop hearing from me you know it might be a good idea to stop the blue foam but to me this has got to be safer than the stringy polyfil that gets burned by the atomizer.

I guess it only works well with the thick VG

personally I would be more worried about weather blue foam is safe.. just cause it dose not kill your fish dose not mean its ok to heat it up in a cart. heat and water are 2 difrent elements you know.. there could be a reason that all companys use polly in there carts.

I also read that a few that have tried the blue foam said it gets hard and crusty at the point that touches the atty..

I think this is easyier to me cause I dont have to cut polly to a perfect size unlike foam's to big dose not wick to small and it leaks..

And yes polly is very reusable.. rinse it dry it with a paper towel, fluff it back up and put it back in..

If your worried about loose strands of polly then singe the strays with a lighter or stick with the fish foam..

And really how many drops of juice is that lil spring going to take up a drop?

A good option to polyfill and blue foam is a cosmetic facial scrubber. The brand name is Buff Puff, but Walgreens had a generic I'm using.

It is springy like the blue foam, but not as open weave, so it plugs better. And it doesn't have the stringy fibers of the polyfill & is springier. It wicks really well, yet dosen't leak, because you kind of spread it out in the cart. No concerns about the abrasives found in kitchen scrubbie pads - it's also softer and has better memory. It has layers that run in one direction - you put the plug in with the fibers running parallel/lengthwise to the vart (so you see the ends when you are looking into the cart.) If you put it in crosswise it blocks the flow.

I have been using it for two days now. It hasn't become hard or stiff, leaked, flooded the atty or caught on the atty bridge. It lets the cart vape dry. Great vaper. Satisfying "sizzle" when drawing on it - but no gurgle. No funky taste, even when it gets dry. The only trick is to make sure you put it in so the fibers run the right way. Use the same size as you would the blue filter or polyfill.

I pop it out with a tweezers and let the tweezers hold it while I refill (mine self-close), pop it back in and then spread the layers back out with the tip of the tweezers, to make sure the plug fills the opening.

The pad is an inch thick, so you have to cut it down, but two pads go a long way for $3.29 & they are easy to find in the store.

So far, I'm in love with the stuff! If nothing else works for you, give it a try!

Kristin.. I see you have a new flavor for the week lol... so what are you going to try next week?:D

btw im not going to be caught dead buying facial scrubby pads I dont care how much they work :D
Scotty, I know, I know, but that's not even the half of it! I didn't even talk about the stuff I tried that just outright SUCKED, LOL! 8-o

The green and blue scrubbies just got me on the right path to this stuff - they were very good but not GREAT. This facial scrubber (which is very similar) has lasted longer than anything else for me. The blue foam seems to have a spotty success rate for some - so I honestly haven't even tried it yet. Plus, no one carries it locally - I'd have to drive 35 minutes to the next larger town.

I've been listening to you guys and other threads to see what the issues were to see if I could find something that didn't have the same issues. Hopefully, this is it for me. Just a heads up for people who can't make the blue foam or polyfill work. If foam/polyfill works for them, that's awesome too!

So far, this has outlasted & outperformed any other material I've tried.

(PS. Since you have a plug that works for you, it's a non-issue, but otherwise, you could ask your wife to pick some up or just order it online, lol!:D)

+1 convert here. Was using the PTB mod for a week and found the same issue, lots of wasted juice and the PTB would get very hard and not wick. FAIL. It did not better than full poly as far as I am concerned. Who cares if it holds more juice if the atty doesn't have access to it.

Did this mod last night, and INSTANT difference. Every hit is clean as if I just dripped! Awesome! And the poly is getting the fluid nicely.

One suggestion for all....and I noticed this immediately....

If using a spring, try to have adequate space between the coils. In other words...don't go stuffing a spring with 8 coils in the cart. There really only needs to be 2 or 3 coils. It is just a place holder after all. But if there are too many coils, and depending on the viscosity of the liquid, it may not get past them!

I realized that when trying to fill my first attempt, the juice was literally floating over the spring! So...less coils=better.

Damn perfect mod, no leaks..fresh vapes all the way through!

I must be the only person on the whole frakkin' planet who doesn't have a spring pen to cannibalise. :(

On a better note, I've just rigged up a "Kristin-type" straw mod using fluval as the stopper...seems ok, vaping nicely. :)

Interested to see how long it lasts before it needs topping off, I was only able to get 12 drops in there compared to 16 drops with the standard "straw mod".

If you do it right, you shouldn't need to top off at all - you'll be doing a refill of another 12 drops. I get in 10 drops plus another 2-4 in the plug

I didn't have as much success with using polyfill & fluval reportedly loses some resilience after repeated use (same with the kitchen scrubbies) - but the white scrub pad is working really well. And make sure you cut the notches in the straw and don't block the notches when you put the straw in the cart.

Starting day 3, Scotty! :D

I must have missed the notches thing, where are you putting them...mouth end or atty end?

As for the scrubby pads, I think I know what you mean, I'll grab some of them in the week. :)

.

Are you using one drinking straw or two coffee straws?

With one drinking straw, you put 2 notches at the mouth end and make sure the notches are turned to the short side of the cart, especially if the straw is pressed against the long side of the cart, because you don't want to block them & the airflow.

The face scrub I'm using for the plug is a Walgreen's brand Facial Cleansing Sponge.
Facial Cleansing Sponges | Walgreens

It has a definite grain to it, so it's important that the side of the sponge material is the top of your plug - this lets you squeeze it like an accordian to put it in the cart & it expands to plug the end. If you put it the other way, it'll expand up/down and won't wick at all.
