Well I have been using this mod for the last 3 days and I have some mix feelings with it. Maybe I am cutting the filler the wrong way.

I feel the PTB is better though more wasteful. With the facial scrub from Walgreens I dont feel the 510 is absorbing the liquid fast enough. Pulling the cart and looking at the filler, it always seems to be dry. If you poke it with something it will start to moist.

Will have to try something else to mod the carts.

a quick check on poylurethane degradation shows that at temps of 160-200c the urethane component will dissociate to isocyanate and polyol.the polyol is no problem but isocyanates are toxic. not sure what temps are at the bridge but may want to rethink its use.
The polyurethane is the binder, not the fibers. After some research, polyurethan glues are nontoxic after curing - it doesn't have the same properties of polyurethane foam or plastic. It's listed as food-safe and nontoxic once cured, with a heat tolerence up to 200-220c. With being constantly wet and the faact that it never actually touches the heating element, I doubt it would get up to a temperature to effect it. I just wouldn't vape a very dry plug for a long time (not that anyone would.)

It sounds like you have the BP (facial scrub) in the cart in the wrong direction. The channels have to be pointed towards the atomizer or it actually blocks the liquid. There is a diagram on the RSP thread showing how it should be placed in the cart.

I've been using the same plug for 5 days now with no reduction in performance - it always vapes the cart dry.

Everyone using the blue foam mod, to save you some time, here's a few notes worth mentioning.

Cut the blue foam 1.5X the length and width of the cart opening.

Do not use a spring (this compresses the metal mesh bridge and makes it less efficient at fluid transfer, it also increases the cances of breaking the carts liquid seal by interupting the surface tensioning properties of the liquid)

Push the cart straight on the atomizer, do NOT turn it once in place. If you turn it, it will contort the plug and dump all fluid into the atomizer. If required pull straight off, turn, push straight on.

When you get a vapor hit (flavor gets real strong and hits you in the sinuses) your cart just ran empty, although the mesh bridge and blue foam are still saturated. Refill cart as soon as you get the chance.

Do not wait until vapor disipates before refilling. If you do, you will use alot of the carts contents to resaturate the bridge.

Your juice consumption will increase substantially, this mod is much more efficient at using fluid. You should be able to drop nic concentration to compensate for the higher efficiency.

Using the blue foam plug increases fluid consumption. There are a few advantages to this. First, you get more per hit. This means you need shorter hits, which increases longevity of the atomizer coil. Shorter hits, less often, increases battery longevity also.
I am not a vendor of this blue foam crap or anything, I am just very familiar with some of the frustrations people will encounter when using PV's without experience.

These mods are really simple here are is my main tip im going to throw in the basket.. try it if you still think PTB is better then IMO you are doing somthing wrong..

weather your using a blue foam plug, polly plug, or facial scrubby pad plug..

If the filler you are using is drying out Reduce the size!!! its packed to tight and will not absorb anything I ran into this even with polly I had one cart that had a lil extra and it did not want to wick I reduced the size of the plug and I was back in action.. but It was such a small amount I took off I could easily see somone getting this wrong and having a dry atty.. after a few times you will know how much to put in..

Good luck

Hence the advantage of blue foam, easy to cut consistently, very porous for good flow, and very re-usable without deforming. Agree though, compress it too tight and it will restrict flow. It will flow, but takes more time to saturate the bridge. When chain vaping that would be an issue. Good place to start with the blue foam is 1.5x the width of cart opening, 1.5x the length of cart opening, stock depth of the pad. Do not turn the cart while on the atomizer!

I didn't see mention of anyone trying this with a 401, so I decided to. But since the carts are smaller and longer than the 501, I put the spring in upand down. Just cut one in half first so it was about halfway up the cart.

First couple pulls are good. As good or better than dripping. But man, I don't miss that poly flavor after dripping for a long time. We'll see how long it lasts.

a temp solution to the filler sliding deeper into the cart....
i turn my PV upside down (thats led point down for those of you that don't live in my world) and tamp it a few times on something firm like my dashboard or desk... kind of in the same manner i would an analog if i hadnt packed em enough... just a thought but it kept me vaping, almost constantly, for 1.5 hrs on one 510 cart full of dekang red bull :)

This is my first mod, and can I just say............ Will You Marry Me?!?!?

Love this, as I am not constantly re-filling cats and dripping. I am easily the most non-tech, non - adaptive, non-manipulation minded person this world has ever seen and it was a cake walk.

I am all for having multiple wives but Im not sure if the wife will go for it Ill ask her right away:D
