Well, I can't see how a e-cig battery can be a "mod", since it just comes that way from the factory ... Nothing at all modified in my battery.

Like buying a new car. It's not modified at all until some guy starts changing parts on it after he buys it.

I had to click this to see who you were talking about. Have only watched 2 of her videos. She may not have the flair that other reviewers have but that's ok to me.

One of the videos I watched she did some extensive testing....I dont recall which device she was testing but she's extremely knowledgeable.

Knowing now that she has an electrical background explains how she was able to rig up one of the testers she used. I'd still be somewhere looking for instructions.

The more correct terminology would be APV (advanced personal vaporizor). The term "mod" is a carry over when flashlights or other tubes were "modded" to become vaporizers back in the day. It's only been within the last few years that manufacturers began producing APV's in mass quantity, and the name has stuck.

simple really, when ecigs were coming out most if not all of them were cigalikes and little batteries, the firsts "mods" were in fact copper and brass tubes or old flashlight tubes, Modded to accect the bigger batteries and the atomizers we use, after a while people started putting in electronics to regulate the voltage a little bit, soon after a few companies took these designs refined them and started producing the first commercial Advanced Personal Vaporizers but by this point the term "mod had taken hold and became the accepted monicker for them.

in reality we need to stop calling them mods and call them apv's or mechanicals

When I started vaping, this confused the heck out of me. Mods to me were something that the end user "enhanced", or somehow changed, to better suit their needs, to some "consumer thing". The term "mod" has somehow been perverted in the vaping sub culture to include any factory or shop produced device that is outside of the stick battery class of device, as I have come to understand it.
I agree, it would be a good thing to start calling them what they actually are.

You're off to a pretty mild start. I usually expect a bit more trolling on the first post.

Edit: To actually respond to your post, this is in the General E-Smoking Discussion Forum. Last time I checked, ProVari owners were vapers too. At the moment, we're discussing why APV's shouldn't be called mods anymore because they technically are purpose built now, not modded from flashlights.

Care to share your thoughts on the current subject?

take a good look at those door tags on your Chrysler. It may be made in "America" but its certainly not made in the United States. Also, there is no more US lead, Obama shut that down

To those posters who have said this thread should have been closed, it does contain quite a bit of useful information to others who have bothered to read through it. Several people have already said that. Many have even said how "entertaining" it has been.

The title has the name "Provari" in it, so does that mean Provari owners should be excluded in contributing their input to the discussion? Are you disappointed that the topics didn't include the ZMax which you are always recommending?

Once a year, around tax return time, I allow myself one splurge on something I normally wouldn't buy but really would like to have.

One year it was a Rolex, another it was an Italian lever espresso machine, another remodeled kitchen.

Last year was a little rough so I have a Provari on the way.

Bought a blemished model, 2 extra batteries, and was set back under $175.

My MVP is working fine, my Sigelei mech with the Russian on top looks fancy, but I want a Provari

I'm sure everything I have bought was overpriced and there was something just as good for much less money, but I get a sense of satisfaction looking at something of top quality and knowing my hard work allows me to have it as well as make sure my family has everything they need.

If that makes me a materialistic slave to technology, I'm ok with it.

I heard the iphone 6 is gonna have that bigger screen I will die without!

Well, I can tell you that two things are going to happen. One, you probably won't be able to find the blemish, and two, you probably won't feel like you overpaid once you hold it in your hands. Owning a ProVari tends to bring peace of mind to those who fret about their APV's breaking.
