I quit smoking with an ego style e-cig but I bought a 5v box mod with in my first week but I'm a gadget girl it was a cheap way to try higher voltage then I went to bottom feeders and stayed there for about a year then moved to VV, good luck on you journey
So how long would you guys say it took for you to go to a mod from your base e-cig? I'm getting the eGo, and I'm concerned about battery life and such, but I also have much more learning to do, like what's the difference between a 510 atomizer and another type of atomizer? These are questions swirling in my mind but I am a research fanatic and I will find the answers!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes.

Welcome to ECF!

So how long would you guys say it took for you to go to a mod from your base e-cig?

3 weeks or so, but I had a good reason to step up. I was heading to Burning Man and wasn't sure that I'd have regular access to electricity for charging my eGo. I bought a Chuck and 8 18650 batteries to get me through the 10 days in the desert. Never looked back from that point as you can see in my sig by all the mods I've owned.

what's the difference between a 510 atomizer and another type of atomizer?.

Some attys are known for being cooler (eg. 901). Some for being hotter (eg 306). Some for lasting longer than others (eg HH357). Plus I'm sure others have identified all sorts of subtle differences. Experiment and find out what you like.

@Hoosier - LOL, Sorry buddy, but I think you're already in on the secret! ;-) ...

Darn, figured as much. I've signed enough confidentially agreements over the years to choke an orca. Would be nice to know a new secret that I could actually repeat without suffering the bad things listed in those agreements I've signed...

BTW: Welcome to ECF Oaken007 and have fun!

Welcome!!!! You're gna love your eGO...... I know I love mine! Not loving it too much right this very second.....my battery just died and I'm miles away from home!!! Just kidding.....can't blame it too much.....it hasn't seen the charger since Wednesday morning......that's how good the 900mAH batteries are! ;) And thank goodness I always carry a pen style 510 battery to fall back on in case my eGO dies. Have tons of fun with your new PV.....its wayyyy better than smoking analogs!! Happy vaping!

Congrats Oaken and Welcome!

I have to 2nd a few earlier posts that were dead on and give my $.02:
relax and enjoy...an Ego is a good starting place.

Find a juice or two you really like (very important) and the right nic level (this is one of the most important points if you are going to quit!! If you find the right liq and nic, quitting analogs is stupid simple IMHO!)

Once you are comfortable, try lots of things and you will find your way to what works best for you, which will change, and the options are endless! Cartos, attys, SR, HR, LR, PG, VG etc, etc, etc and more mods and flavors than you can imagine!

VV for me was the next big step and game changer...opened up flavors, and TH, and control over everything. My recc would be once you are settled in, comfortable, and enjoying vaping check out a VV mod (or you can even get a Booster to make your Egos VV to check it out).

Never hesitate to ask...this community was a HUGE part of my success and enjoyment and there are always tons of people glad to help, answer, suggest etc. It has also save me tons of money and disappointment through others sharing their experiences.

Best of luck and enjoy!!

I seem to find my ego batteries (I use original Joye) last at least six months, been very happy with them. I get the larger ones though (1000 mah or so). I've been vaping 2 years and never felt the need to move to a mod, but remain curious about them...maybe I will one day.

Both the Omega and the SB are fine pieces of hardware. It doesn't take very long for most people to want a mod or at least experience one. The eGo is a good starter kit and should last you all day between both batteries.

I must have gotten a great eGO kit......hubby uses one batt and I use the other one. Mine just died on me a little while ago.....but the last time it saw the charger was Wednesday morning. On average we only have to charge our batts every other day. And I vape A LOT...pretty good huh? :):):)

Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of vaping!!!! My roomie and I split an ego kit after I tried a disposable from the gas station and liked it. Can't smoke in my house any more and hate the thought of having to go outside every time the urge strikes! I've been chain vaping practically ever since, but still have a few analogs when I am out or the urge strikes,
I've since ordered a bunch of juices to try, but I think my fave purchase so far was the ego variable volt battery for only $16.95 at high desert e-cigs! Boy, the flavor and vapor really improves at a higher voltage. This was by far the least expensive mod I found to get vv and since there are two of us using one kit, I figured than an extra battery couldn't hurt.. Now, I am awaiting my 5v passthrough to arrive, just over $10! Just plug into your computer and vape away. If yu haven't noticed yet, when your battery starts to get low, it doesn't work as well. So, the passthrough will allow that fresh battery feel every time! If you are handy with a soldering iron, you could make your own for even less!

Having the ego, you are all set to try a lot of different things on it as it has a 510 connector, which fits just about everything. If not, there are adaptors for cheap...

Enjoy!

Welcome to ECF Oaken007!!!! You'll find a wealth of information, and a great supporting community!!!! Congratulations on your new path to freedom!!!! :toast:

Hey all,
N00b Here...

So excited. My first e-cig is coming in the mail tonight.

So throughout this whole experience, I wanted to quit smoking (mostly I wanted to rid my body of bad chemicals within cigarette smoke) so I thought about e-cigs. My roommate told me about a friend she knows that sells them and I went to visit her. I tried it and wow. WOWWWWWWW!!!!!!! so I ordered one.

She told me there was this whole community of vapers and I had to check it out. I like being a part of unknown communities. I learned so much in the last few days. I watched a lot of videos (Thank you GrimmGreen!) and I'm already wanting my first mod.

So here I am. I'm trying to get the lingo down. There's not a whole lot of information online, hopefully the forums can help me out.

Anyway, so hi everyone! I'm new and I'm excited!!!!!!!
