I can honestly say, I've purchased cartos from V4L for about 10 months and have only discarded approx 15 cartos (and that is a high end estimate).

I do what Scott does...sort of...

1) vape, Drip, and Switch:
vape until the flavor is not as strong, pop off the white end cap and add 4-5 drops...vape until the flavor is not as strong, pop off the white end cap and add 4-5 drops...etc...you get the drift.

After a week, I switch to fresh cartos and rinse the ones I've just used for a week.

2) Rinsing:
I pop out the end caps and just run the cartos under hot tap water until the batting looks white again. I blow the extra water out by blowing through the mouth end of the carto. I also rinse the end caps. I then set them on a paper towel upright to dry. By the time I'm ready to switch again, they are perfectly dry and ready to be filled.

I have not had a problem rotating through my cartos like this.

Thank-you. My rinsed ones may simply be too wet. Not touching them for a while. Most were all pre-filled and only 2 of my blanks failed, now.

Armed and ready for next order and just not trying it any other way now.

Take care.

Will be better situated to try this next week. Makes sense to me.

Thanks.

:toast:

Mine last, on the average, close to fifty refillings before either physically failing or just getting gross enough from carbon build-up to not be worth messing with any more. I primarily buy new cartomizers when I'm wanting a color change or something to compliment a battery color.

I wash them when they get gross and harsh. Rinse them out with near-boiling water, blow the excess out, set them in a rubber-banded bunch in front of a box fan and forget them for a couple days until the fan starts to annoy me.

This really can be made much more complicated than it needs to be. But even if one is buying new pre-filled cartomizers every time, in most instances the math proves-out that it's still marginally less expensive in most states than a typical smoking habit.

That said - I'm sure there is some percentage of the population that won't be able to take to vaping. And that probably is as it should be.

WORKING! - THANK-YOU, EVERYONE!

I use the rubber cap from the mouth piece side (not the one with the post inside). Put it on the mouth piece end not quite 1/2 way squeeze and hold it. Get a drop (straight from the bottle) over the battery end hole and release. Releasing the rubber will create a vacuum that sucks the drop down into the hole. Don't forget to use a small piece of paper towel to wipe up any excess juice. Since you rinsed you may have to do it a few times to get the flavor going. You shouldn't have to wait, it will just take a bit longer as you still need to burn the water out.

Guess I'm really in the minority here. I'm passing my sixth month since quitting cigs, and I've never refilled. I'm definitely not rich either. Just seemed worth the extra bucks to quit cigs without many hassles. May have to try refilling in the coming months, now that cigs have lost their appeal. ;)

Thank-you both. That is simple enough. I just tried it on one and it came back to life!!! :)

Going to try the others and if I lose the ones I rinsed, it would be cheaper to avoid the blanks and just throw them out. I ordered the CoolCarts this time around and better flavs, for me, so outside of the headache I gave myself, the light's back on! (I'm just thrilled it wasn't anywhere near the four pack backslide - just two analogs, now safely tucked away)

My 2 cents:
I refill by putting the battery side cap (the one with the core) on the bat side and pulling the tip cap out then drip directly into the filler, cap top with "cart condom" and spin. Then I soak up any excess juice by sucking it up into the dropper bottle and then dabbing the filler with a paper towel. Gently work a straightened paper clip thru center hole in case it collapses. I use one cart per flavor and the last a month or more.

Hey Jeffree....if I can refill, ANYONE can. And it really is quite a bit cheaper. When I found out how easy it was, I felt foolish about not trying it sooner. Try it....you'll like it!:vapor:

I rinse/boil mine, blow out the excess water from the mouth end onto a paper towel, then throw them in a container of white rice. Usually in 24 hours they're bone dry and ready to be refilled. I found that if you don't wait long enough, they dont work well at all! Before I fill them, I blow again onto my hand to feel if any moisture is coming out...if so, back in the rice they go!

That was my first thought: the batting is still wet w/water. They won't work right if that's the case - and if they do work, they'll taste terrible.

Been there, done that.

I'm another one who only washes cartos occasionally. I use them till they're semi-gross and throw them into an old coffee can. When I have enough to make it worth my while, I clean them with hot water, blow through the mouthpiece to get all of the water out, then let them sit upright on a paper towel for a few days. They're good as new.

Yay! :D So glad to hear thing are going better for you!! Just like with anything new and different, I think it takes a while to get it all figured out. :2cool:
I'm getting better at refilling cartos and now I just have to get used to taking enough with me when I go back to work tomorrow... 8-o

Anyway, feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions (I will do my best to help out!) or if you just need to vent!

I made this video to make a couple people laugh, but I think WOW needs to watch this.

When life is troubling you, at least you can say you can dance better than I can.

Sometimes vaping can be frustrating, but, you smoked for YEARS. You have to give yourself a little time to get things going.

Don't give up! We have all been there. I carry a couple of different ones and rotate as scott58 said. Hang in there and I am sure you are doing it right, sometimes you just get a bad cart. You quit smoking after years, you are doing awesome! I am over a month in and I have had my share of boo boos and felt like giving up but I stuck to it and I got it rolling now. Took me a few weeks tho, WOW you can do it :)

BORN! I love it, you are too funny! We must be twins because I dance the same way! ;)

I kinda like to keep it simple with cartos...

Pop the top, drip in some drops, cover the battery end with a paper towel and blow, keep adding more drops until when I blow I get some juice in the towel, put the cap back on and use.

If I have to rinse out a carto, it's a quick rinse under warm tap water and a quick blow. Then into the zip lock bag full of rice for 2 days.

Seemed like I had no better results when I would get very technical about filling or in washing.

But, there are some days when nothing seems to work and the batteries are all dead and my DIY juice doesn't taste good. Seems like nothing I try works and everything is broken.

That is when I just take two of these and go to sleep...

Don't feel like you are the only one WOW who has had problems with their cartos or their e-Cig. We've all been there and it will Get Better.

You're not alone on not refilling. I decided when I started vaping again that I'd keep it as simple as possible this time, so I'm using all prefilled. I know I could save money by refilling, and I may sometime in the future, but for now I'm still saving almost half of what I used to spend on analogs anyway.

Thanks Brooke~

Technically, the steps are not that difficult and work with (most) new cartos.

I'm having a lot of problems getting this to work on 1st refill of a empty/vaped out carto - I just got my order today and tried it on two. The liquid is there but, nothing. I'm not trying anymore. I can't afford 25 new cartos for a 30mil bottle or 5 pre-filled to last a week. I went through so much of the juice I just bought last week on the one carto I could get to work with the couple drops on the top, my PT fried it and in turn, melted part of mouse.

I've got bottles, caps, cartos, carto caps and paper towels all over the place and what I thought would free up my mind from obsessing over smoking has just shifted to vaping. I can't have company over like this either.

If there isn't an affordable fix to this - learning curve or not - this isn't rocket science - I'm just going to put my stuff on the classifieds.

Seriously, my brain can't take the aggravation anymore than my pocketbook.

There's just no logical reason for over 30 cartos to ALLLLL be bad and unable to be rinsed and work 3 days and a bag of rice later.

I'm thinking maybe it's just for light smokers. Cause this is just like throwing $ into the wind and as painful as trying to quit cold turkey. Not happening.

Take care.

WOW,

Refilling cartos is very very simple. And yet, NO ONE gets it right at first.

When I first switched to cartomizers from 3-piece models, I couldn't get refilled carts to work at ALL. It took me a couple weeks to get it to work, and I couldn't tell you even now what I did differently. I just kept trying, and got better and better results over time.

It's a learning curve. Keep at it, and you will get it.

And if not, don't worry about it, just buy pre-filled. It's still less expensive than cigarettes. :thumb:
