Leaford, thanks but, in the meantime, I can only vape w/ new blanks.

Is there a way to tell if a vaped out carto is good w/o wasting the e-juice?

(5 pre-filleds wouldn't last me over a day x 7 + shipping - just can't do it cause in the meantime, I'm going to pull my hair out if I don't get a comfy nic fix )

I don't want to just walk away from this cause I can see you guys are the best company but what the ______ other than analogs is supposed to get a person through an e-juice killer learning curve when they can't afford both?

I don't know what else to do.....my head is simply killing me from just last night.

[To Ryan - definitely agree on the cherry - thanks. Pineapple rocks :vapor:- but, going slow on that one while maybe find some way of surviving this.]

HELP?

WOW,

Refilling cartos is very very simple. And yet, NO ONE gets it right at first.

When I first switched to cartomizers from 3-piece models, I couldn't get refilled carts to work at ALL. It took me a couple weeks to get it to work, and I couldn't tell you even now what I did differently. I just kept trying, and got better and better results over time.

It's a learning curve. Keep at it, and you will get it.

And if not, don't worry about it, just buy pre-filled. It's still less expensive than cigarettes. :thumb:

I increased it from 18mg to 24mg.

Leaford, it's the cartos. If there's a way to tell which ones have the chance to work, it's better than going through 30mil in two days on cartos that are burnt out. It's not that I'm vaping alot - I wasted alot of e-juice on cartos that eat up the e-juice on their 1st re-fill. I can't afford to that again, is what I'm saying. (No probs w/ new cartos with the e-juice in last order - just trying to prepare for when they need to be refilled and if I can salvage any of my other 30+ cartos to b ready for on-the-go use - the one "old/one use carto" I tried failed - this time I had the sense to stop)

I was chain smoking analogs til I got nauseaus so, I'm not quite at the point of cutting back & if it takes more than a few minutes to get a carto going, I'm going to end up going back to analogs for the convenience/headache relief - it's not that I want to. I just really don't know how to prepare myself. --- This last order should last me into next month if I don't waste the juice.

Right now, to keep testing old cartos w/ no info on how to tell if one will work over another would waste it all way too fast.

Any suggestions?

Thanks & TIA

What strength are you vaping, Wow? If you're going through 5 carts a day, maybe you should be vaping a higher strength.

Are you trying to rinse the blank cartos before using them for the first time? If so, you don't need to, you can use them right out of the box!! That's the great thing about them! Also, I did have some bad experiences with cartos when I first started but I just kept at it and now I am getting more and more comfortable each day. I wasn't what I would call a heavy smoker...I smoked about a pack a day, but I really believe this has saved my life! It feels so good to hear my 7 year old proudly tell people that her mommy quit smoking!
I'm not sure what flavors you like but I have some pre-filled cartos that I got to try and I'm not crazy about the flavors... I would be more than happy to send them to you for you to try and use! Just PM me your address and I can send them tomorrow if you would like to try them out.

I kinda like to keep it simple with cartos...

Pop the top, drip in some drops, cover the battery end with a paper towel and blow, keep adding more drops until when I blow I get some juice in the towel, put the cap back on and use.

If I have to rinse out a carto, it's a quick rinse under warm tap water and a quick blow. Then into the zip lock bag full of rice for 2 days.

Seemed like I had no better results when I would get very technical about filling or in washing.

But, there are some days when nothing seems to work and the batteries are all dead and my DIY juice doesn't taste good. Seems like nothing I try works and everything is broken.

That is when I just take two of these and go to sleep...

Don't feel like you are the only one WOW who has had problems with their cartos or their e-Cig. We've all been there and it will Get Better.
I've took that pill before it helps:)

If you're going through 5 cartos a day - are you vaping them until they're bone dry? Have you tried popping the cap off, and dropping 5 or so drops in the carto every so often? (maybe as much as every few minutes, if you're vaping that much) Then you wouldnt have to even worry about washing/drying/refilling completely.

As soon as I feel the hit getting a little 'light' (hard to describe), I pop the cap off, and drop 5 drops in. You'll just tilt the carto slightly and drip the liquid in so it hits the filler, not the center post/tube. Watch to make sure it all gets sucked up into the filler. As soon as it stops sucking it up quickly - stop - or you'll end up wasting juice. I put mine on a paper towel and put the caps on again, just in case I put a drop or 2 too many in and it comes out the battery end. Then I slightly suck on the mouth end to make sure that center tube is clear, wipe off the battery end and stick it back on.

Yeah, it's a few extra steps every half-hour or hour...but no worse than looking for a lighter, or packing a pack of cigs. And a lot less work than getting in the car and running down for another pack of cigarettes LOL

If you're sticking to the same few flavors, you just need a couple cartos for each flavor. I find myself washing my cartos every couple of weeks just because I keep trying new flavors. Now that I've found a few that I really really like - I wont need so many cartos!

JennyJo - that's sweet of you but, don't be silly. That would cost you s/h on a couple things when I have to resolve the technical difficulties about re-filling. It's not the blanks - it's re-filling a pre-filled blank or pre-filled. (I know to not rinse a blank but those I rinsed have less than a 50% chance of
holding new e-juice - that is a lot of juice! That is what is concerning me cause I can't buy the equivalent in pre-filled and control my budget. It's very frustrating!) ---- Really, though, that was such a sweet thought.:2cool:

Thanks.

In my 1st order I got a 5mil bottle that completely filled only 3 cartos. Everything else was pre-filled.

I am not talking about keeping the flavor going. I'm saying the complete re-fill ON just those cartos, I rinsed to change flavors, unlike your experience, are not refilling. I'm doing it the same way as Leaford's AND Ryan's vids - nothing more than 1/2 the time. The rest of the time, if I were stupid enough to keep trying something that isn't working, the flav and vapor is weak, the cartos seem one use only and is still a waste of juice.

From what everyone else's experiences are with the cartos, this should not be happening on a 1st re-fill but, maybe a 3rd or even 5th.

I'm trying to understand why and what to do about it. Re-filling new blanks is not a prob.

Yeah, it's a few extra steps every half-hour or hour...but no worse than looking for a lighter, or packing a pack of cigs. And a lot less work than getting in the car and running down for another pack of cigarettes LOL

See, now that's just weird to me cause I can go an hour w/o losing the flavor but, I can go days, apparently, with nothing on one of the cartos I rinsed. Technically, you're vaping more than me!!!! I wasn't expecting that!

It's just the relief of the cravings. I was getting analogs by the carton. - Just can't breathe the garbage anymore. I'm just frustrated w/ this.

If you're sticking to the same few flavors, you just need a couple cartos for each flavor. I find myself washing my cartos every couple of weeks just because I keep trying new flavors. Now that I've found a few that I really really like - I wont need so many cartos!

Wow - Have you thought about not rinsing at all? When I started vaping in Feb., I had every intention of washing my carto's. I did it once and wasn't happy with how they tasted after refilling. Of course, I was probably doing it wrong though and not allowing them to dry enough.

Anyway... I buy prefilled and blanks. I typically refill a previously prefilled with the same liquid about five or six times. Same with the blanks... Then I trash them when they aren't working as well. I've noticed that I seem to get more refills with lighter colored liquids. The darker ones (or those with a lot of VG) seem to wear out the carto's more quickly.

Although I'm not rinsing carto's, it's still a lot cheaper than what I spent when I smoked.

Honestly I highly advise against cleaning at all whether it's a cartomizer or an atomizer. They aren't meant to be cleaned with pure water or vodka and more times than not, the atty/carto is ruined during the process.

So then everyone who's advised rinsing w/ or w/o vodka talking about good results is on my SL, now, for lying?

Great.

I think that with a lot of things regarding vaping rinsing is mainly a matter of preference and some have good luck with it and some have bad luck with it...
I think you should try filling the cartos using the "condom method" where you fill one of the condoms about half way with juice then put the battery end in and slowly push it on. You may see some juice come out of the other end... When that happens to me I just pull the condom off a little and then proceed with slowly pushing it back on. Once you have filled the carto, take the condom off and wipe the carto clean. Then I take a tissue or paper towel and put it over the battery end and blow for a second into the end that you will vape from just to make sure that there is no juice that you will suck into your mouth.
I have had pretty good luck doing it this way so far! If I'm vaping a lot like on the weekends when I'm not working, I will pull the soft cap off and drop about 4 or 5 drops into the batting and put the cap back on and it helps to keep the carto topped off.

WOW

in one of your posts above you mentioned something like......3 days later and a bag of rice.....did your washed cartos start working again?

if so, the problems sounds like they were still wet....some of the newer carts are packed with filler and hold liquid well, but that means they take longer to dry also....maybe you have found the problem????

i washed on Saturday aft. and am still drying some that were the new type.

some bake them in oven at low temp, some put in front of fan, some in rice bag, some in dryer in socks (more than one/sock tears up labels as they bounce around).

if water is left in filler, it has to vaporize before the liquid you put in will vaporize, or the flavor is weak or they may flood and leak.....just some thoughts that might help you.:)
