I took the familiar path of gas station Ecigs to a few Ego setups and a few different tanks and guess what??? I'm perfectly happy with what I have!!

More to the point of this post, I'm a guitar player and I frequent a guitar gear forum. The forum experience is very similar.....you see all the great gear available and pretty soon you feel like what you have is no longer sufficient. They call it G.A.S. on the guitar forums. "Gear Acquisition Syndrome"! And you see the same debates on what gear is the best. Even guitar gear forums have thier versions of the Provari's and high end gear.

I don't doubt that there are better vaping solutions available but I guess I'm just not into the equipment of these activities as much as I am into the activity itself. And I don't think there is anything wrong with being into gear. Besides it being expensive, it's a fun, harmless hobby. If you think these vape setups are costly, there are guys that spend 10's of thousands on guitars, amps, gizmos etc.....and I think thats cool if you can afford it. But you do see posts about guys having financial problems because they maxed out the lines of credit buying guitars. It's crazy.

And I'll bet there are forums for just about every other hobby that involves equipment. I heard there is a forum for high end flashlights! Again, it's all fine and good, I'm just making conversation. But at this point (2 months into quitting analogs completely) I must say I don't seem to have G.A.S. for the latest and greatest vape rig. I'm just happy with what I have and I'm glad to consider myself a non-smoker after 35 years.

I have essentially 3 "hobbies". The first two are also the business' I've been in for over 40 years... and vaping. Vaping is by far the least costly - even if I spent $5000 a year, it'd still be a drop in the bucket of the other two, so where I go with and how much I spend on vaping is... irrelevant. As long as I don't smoke, the "value" of vaping is priceless.

I ,sadly, succumbed to the syndrome and now have spares of spares, some RBAs I'll probably never get around to building, and some mechs that look really cool, but that I haven't had time to play with... I have about 4 different mods I use constantly along with my assortment of mini vivis and that's what gets me through the day... But, one of these days, when the mood is right and the moon is in the right phase I'll probably bust out one of the mech mods and rbas I have and give it a go...

We aren't knocking those that spend money on their hobby. I understand that people sometimes get so into vaping that it does become a hobby type passion. That's perfectly OK. It does not need to be justified. It seems anytime someone says they are saving money or that they are happy with simple devices, someone needs to come along and justify what they've spent.

There is no 'looking down' on those that are into the hobby side. It's fine if you can afford it. The OP was just stating his victory and observations. Just a simple 'Good job' works. :)

No, not at all. Heck, I have guitar gear I don't even use! And I'd be lying if I said I have ABSOLUTELY no interest in some of the great vaping equipment available. The post is really more of an insight on forums and the markets they drive.

That is one of the good things about vaping You can get into as much or as little as You want, if Your happy Your happy and if it got You to stop smoking even better.
And yes there are forums for high end flashlights, just last night i was on the phone with an old friend, talked about 3 hours and although he doesn't smoke, quit cold turkey his girlfriend vapes, and he is active on the flashlight forums, and I did gather some battery cross over info he has from not only using li-ions for flashlights but also radio controlled cars

Same here. For me, vaping had to be a cost effective way of quitting smoking, and the gum, patches and other NRT "therapies" weren't. Vaping had to cost no more than my two PAD habit. So far, it has cost much less and I've been able to acquire a nice little collection of eGo setups and a suite of juices that I really like.

Next month, I will probably leap forward a bit and get an inexpensive mod like an Itazte, but whatever I get will have to be eGo compatible because I don't want to shell out a wad trying to find a 510 system that performs like my Kanger gear.

Sooo....tell me about this Itazte! LOL! :D Arrrgh!!

My buddy at work started vaping totally because of the savings. I'm doing it for health and savings. I figure my savings from not buying analogs to be almost $500.00 a month. If my wife quit too it would be a combined savings of nearly $800.00 a month! Thats freekin crazy!! Now that I think of it, I can easily afford a "better" vaping rig!

That's always the sweet irony, quitting cigarettes to save money; and spending a ton on e cig gear. For almost a year I kept it cheap. With eGos and online vendors. Only to go crazy with it now :)
Congrats on making the switch. Isn't it sickening when you realize just how much you spent on smokes? Know it turned my stomach, when I finally did the math......without rounding down lol.

I'm with the OP, I'm happy with my ego batteries, have no need for anything more fancy. But (you knew there had to be a 'but', right?) I have a weakness for 'pretty' batteries. So I have about 20. But my ex stopped by (we're good friends) and was kidding me about all my pretty batteries lined up. "You think you have enough batteries?", etc. etc. So I pointed out that 'all my pretty batteries' together cost less than his newest phone.

Yeah, I spend more than I have to. But in the grand scheme of things, vaping is still a pretty cheap hobby. And the 'savings' (your health) is priceless.

Guess that makes me a coin flip kind of Vaper.

I have purchased a boat load of gear. At the same time, I have worked the deal on just about every device for best price point and have mostly bought lower cost alternatives.
At retail my $2K investment over the past year would equate to over 6k and will last my lifetime, so I'm basically done.

Like others have said - Whatever works for YOU!.

I'm another person who is okay with simple and cheap. I'm using a 650 ego with an evod and a ce4 at the moment. Evod heads are cheap, but I did buy DIY supplies for unflavored or simple mint juice. I'm also perfectly happy with an Epi LP, Blues Jr., and a Bad Monkey. I guess I'm easy to please, cheap, and in control of my GAS. Sure, I would like fancier, expensive, shiny toys....but I control my GAS, not the other way around. Besides, if I save money from vaping, I can buy more cheap guitar equipment!

Without a doubt. The flight sim forums I frequent are replete with home built cockpits and multi-monitor displays. I've personally spent hundreds on all sorts of gadgets from Track IR to heavily modded rudder pedals to the car seat I use for flying. Any passionate devotee is going to outlay funds to further their hobby (or hobbies).

Brand specific G.A.S. here. I started with a iTaste 3.0 and now I have a MVP (that I've yet to use), a SVD on order and will be getting a VTR, MVP 2.0 and maybe even a 134  - when they come out in the next 2 weeks to 3 months or so.

After I've satisfied my Innokin fix? God (and my wife) only know. ;-)
