For one thing, it didn't seem to matter what voltage I vaped at. I didn't ever notice an appreciable difference in taste or amount of vapor,

I'm glad I'm not the only one to found this to be true. So being able to change watts/volts did nothing for me.

On the other hand, I like the 'consistency' of having a constant voltage to be helpful. I can taste a difference when my egos are almost out of oomph. But I only have a couple vv devices because, IMHO, most of them are ugly. :) Yeah, I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I like my pretty, patterned egos. :)

Edited to add: I do have a couple of mechs and drippers but I don't use them. They're just in case the FDA decides to go absolutely nuts. (I also have a stockpile of juice. :) )

I use my ego twists all the time. You should at least try to expand your horizons a little just to make sure your not missing out.
If everyone was happy with their Joyetech 510's they would miss out on all kinds of improvements :)

If form factor is important to you, try the Aspire tanks. The ET-S is metal, goes with your ego battery perfectly, and will give you MUCH better vapor with an easy to change atty head like the protank/evod.

Wow....Love this thread; thanks OP. I sometimes feel like I'm the only one here with an eGo/eVod in my hand.

EGO + EVOD is my go to setup when I am out and about. Sheer simplicity while delivering a decent vape. Nothing wrong with it at all. I probably wouldn't be using anything else if it were not for the FDA threatening us. That is what drove me into mechs and rebuildables.

At 3 months in, I have numerous and various sizes of egos and clearos, 2 twists, a spinner, an iTaste vv vw, a Davide, and a couple other glass tanks....I still have the original little convenience store eGo that I quit on - will probably keep it as a souvenir when it finally quits!! I like the form factor of these devices and find that they work very well for me. I also find that I go more for the appearance than anything else - I like something that pleases me to look at and hold. I do do a lot of "window shopping" and have to admit to curiosity about other types of devices. That said, I recently bought a clone Chi You - it is HUGE, seems well enough built and is pretty - but frankly I don't like it as well as my eGo type devices. I also caved in recently and ordered one of those cute Kamry epipes - in pink!! Can't wait to try it. And....and....finally bought a ProVari, in white.........resisted that purchase for a long time. I am anxious to see if I think it is as wonderful as everyone else thinks; have my doubts, but that's just me. Anyway - I need to QUIT BUYING stuff!!!!!!!!!! If I'd stay off this forum....I might have a little more self-control!!! :2cool::mad::p

Count me in as another happy eVod user. My preferred topper is the mini pro tank II. The eVod clearos are decent too. I rotate them. I also have a mini uni tank. It's better than the eVods but not as good as the mini PTs. Anyway I haven't seen any need to upgrade at this point. Guess I'm lucky. I don't really care about VV, VW. Seems like just one more thing to eff with. I want to keep it simple. I'm kinda interested in a REO type box mod but 6mL seems like a lot of juice. I'm a constant flavor changer. What I'm really interested in is building my own wooden box mod to my own specs. Maybe someday I will. Til then I'm perfectly happy.

Changing flavor on a REO is as easy as removing the bottle Blowing through the drip tip with a paper towel at the end of the tube to catch what comes out. Screwing on a new bottle. BTW an 18650 battery box perfectly fits 2 REO 6 mL bottles for portability.

I know a guy on another forum that said he was just going to vape to quit smoking. That was 2 weeks ago. Now he has a mod, another on the way and like 6 tanks.. lol.

Personally, the hobby aspect of it is probably 50% of the reason it was so easy to quit smoking. If I find myself getting bored with my gear, or the quality of my vape, it'll probably be pretty stressful.

in response to the op:
i invested in a couple precise +'s and 10 vivi novas. ive been through an evic, a svd, and eroll. months after playing with the new toys which ones do you suppose i'm relying on these days? the precise plus. i have store credit on fasttech, which i will probably just use for batteries. :p

Unfortunately I can't seem to find "precise +" on fasttech.

finally found this

http://www.vapecore.com/2013/09/super-t-manufacturing-precise-plus-18650-review/

It is a "mod" (battery tube).

Wish I still had some of my eGos. Gave the working ones away months ago. Right now I only use 2 devices: an older style MVP and a Provari 2.5. The MVP I keep at 3.7 with an EVOD. The provari is for the most part cartomizers with low to 0 nicotine. Seeing that I used to be a 1.5 -3 pack a day chain smoker, extra oomph comes in handy. My eGos couldn't take the abuse, and buying new ones gets spendy. If it works then why bother spending the money? Smoking cigarettes is more shameful than using any form of e cig (IMO).

BTW: Going out in public with an eGo is less attention grabbing, and that is the only reason I miss them :) Still not buying any new devices anytime soon ;)

I have an eGo style battery w/pass through, and an Evod tank.

I'm happy with it.

This. A million times, this.

People have the choice of going as simple as can be with a basic PV of choice and one juice that they like, but you can explore so many different aspects of vaping if you choose. The power source. The attchments. The juice....ooooooh, the juice! So many great juice makers out there, and if one gets the itch, they can go DIY, and even make their own extracts. The possibilities are practically infinite.

All of it put together just makes smoking look boring in comparison.

I'm also in complete agreement. I had the easiest time quitting smoking after 11 years. I still use the simple eGo-T, but it's worked thus far. I'm interested in trying some mods though, but no rush. The hobby side of it for me has been the DIY juicing. It helps me embrace my creative side while vaping. The super cheapness of DIY liquids is pretty great too...

Nope sorry it is not the end all for everyone. I find I do not give a darn about VV devices at all. My personal end all was REO. Either case solid devices.

Everyone finds their own thing that is the end all and that is actually what is fantastic about the selection of gear that is out there.

I very much agree with the OP; I only own two PVs (a V4L dual mode Zeus, and an Innokin VTR) and I'm quite happy with my setup. I use the VTR as a regular vape, and personally I don't mind the size and weight because it's also quite durable, and the Zeus is a backup or just for when I feel like it. I know it's cheaper to get a rebuildable atomizer, but it's not worth the trouble for me, since I pay a couple bucks for a replaceable coil that lasts for a couple weeks. I found a very cheap juice vendor (MadVapes) who's also a member of AEMSA and I'm perfectly happy with them.
I guess it comes down to how much work you want to put into it, and whether you want a simple cigarette replacement or a hobby. Whatever keeps you off the real thing is what's important.
