rounding third and heading home...
I have an eGo style battery w/pass through, and an Evod tank.

I'm happy with it.

It takes up next to no space, rather than a huge, clunky, (to me) awkward looking mod. I can throw it in my pocket or Random Stuff Holder in the center console of my car. The whole thing cost $30, I won't cry if it breaks or I lose it. And if I DO lose it or break it, I can walk into about any smoke shop and pick up the exact same gear.

Is it the best? Well, define best, I guess. For me, I think so. I can pick it up and vape. Maybe switch out a coil if I need to. I don't need to spend epochs fiddling with wires and wick material. I didn't do that with cigarettes, and I don't want to do it when I vape, either. Some people love the tinkering. I myself, don't. (FYI, I also tried rolling my own cigs for a while, and hated that too. Curious if the tinkerers were also rollers when they smoked) I wasn't always searching for the best lighter on the market, or the newest cigarette technology. Again, to me, that doesn't make sense to do when I vape. I do see the appeal of doing it, it just doesn't appeal to ME.

Everybody is saying "famous last words". I... really don't think so. I can't say no for sure, but I can't see what would make me upgrade. I also hear a lot of "You should at least get a VV". I HAD a VV. My first battery was a Twist, and I was wholly unimpressed. For one thing, it didn't seem to matter what voltage I vaped at. I didn't ever notice an appreciable difference in taste or amount of vapor, except if I turned it up past like 3.8, everything I vaped, burned. Yeah, that was money well spent on THAT battery. And then it disintegrated 3 months after I bought it. The ring that holds the power button just came off. The whole thing fell apart. It was never dropped or mistreated, either.

Sure, I could just think I "have it good" because I've never tried much else.

I get some "Oh... you're still using THAT??" like there's something wrong with me.

Is anyone else still using "basic" equipment and happy with it?

i'm glad you're happy with what you have, but if you keep on reading ECF you will be absorbed. of course you don't think so now, but many a soul has tread the same ground you are walking now and they, too have succumbed. whatever you do, don't touch a kayfun or russian or read too much about them- one day you will go to sleep and when you wake up you will research the finer points of making a coil and what the best wick material is.... you can fight it, you can hold out longer than most, but, in the end the vape snatchers will get you......

Truly it's whatever works I used your setup for a long time. It was awesome! I just ordered my first mod, so I'll see where it goes. I ordered mostly out of curiosity.

Nope sorry it is not the end all for everyone. I find I do not give a darn about VV devices at all. My personal end all was REO. Either case solid devices.

Everyone finds their own thing that is the end all and that is actually what is fantastic about the selection of gear that is out there.

I am in same place. I had 2 Provaris and never liked them. I do have a REO which I love, but admit to using my ego batts at least as often as the REO most days.

I bought a lot of stuff last year to just learn about PVs and electronics, see what diffferent *gadgets* could do. Then, I moved to simple.

The hobby thing is fun for a lot of people.

For others, "hobby" could just be DIYing their own juice and/or not spending a lot of money!

To be honest, I'm at the latter point. I see no reason to spend $ where I don't need to, $ is hard to come by these days.
$20 a month is a nice place to be.

Good for you!

Let it be known that 70% of vapers use and still use eGos. Although I am a vendor and must try everything we sell (ya can't help a customer if you don't know your gear) my go to is my eGos and I always have one in my pocket. The objective is to remain smoke free, not what you have in your hands :)

Congrats

What you have is working for you and your happy with it so your good to go and there is no practical reason for you to go any further. I'm on a mod now and dct tank but only because I like very strong flavours and my current setup gives me that but I loved the evod only problem for me was I love fruit flavours and some are tanks busters so needed glass. My wife is on similar to you and has zero interest inanything else so your far from being alone to be honest your probably more representative of vapours in general. What is pushing me to try new things is the miriad of threats to ecigs so I'm getting rg500 tanks and rebuilding my own evod heads in the new year just so I have some safety for the future. That's the only practical reason really for vapours to go beyond the ego I can see ego got most of us off the stinkies and will always have a place in our hearts. May you be a happy vapour for a longtime to come and laugh at anyone that looks down on you and your setup knowing they most likely started off just the same as you :).

There is a very LARGE population of existing, SPENDING, chronic SMOKERS out there, who for YEARS have been hoping to either quit smoking or get a BETTER CIGARETTE.

For this large MARKET, the 'ecig' offers that possible alternative. Once one of these people find a workable alternative, it is a RELIEF. The search is over.

I took a rather circuitous route to find my perfect vape.

eGo starter kit with CE5 with non replaceable heads....My store wanted to charge my 8 bucks for those.

Research brought up eVods'. Great clearomizer, easy to replace heads...too airy for me and had a plasticy taste.

Bring up the Mini Protank. Great flavor, but hard to find for spares

Bring up the Mini Protank 2..... Great flavor Easy to find, Easy to clean.....Flavor is a little diluted......Must be the heads.

"Don't replace the heads, get a variable voltage battery"....Ok, out comes the wallet in in comes an iTaste vv3. Great Vape....dies before the end of the day.....That's ok....Get two more...

Give the original eGo's and Evod's away as PIF (Pay it Forward) gifts.

Ok I'm all set.......That's one cool looking MVP2...And it has gobsmacking battery life.

Buy one.....Oh oh....VV3's in danger.....Buy a second MVP2 and give two of the vv3's for PIF gifts.

Finally happy. Although I miss the excitement of pending vape mail........

Whatever you are happy with and works for you is the perfect setup. I like simple and I just want my juice to taste good. With vv and my 510 attys I get that, cheaply. Works for me.

I started with a 1300mah Vision Spinner and Evods. I still use them. I also bought a Joye 510 disposable atty and that is what I use 95% of the time. Cheap, no rebuilding and the juice tastes amazing. I bought an MVP2 to try the vw and for battery life. Really like it but prefer the form factor of my spinners. I will be buying a Provari Mini after the first of the year. I do want one device that I can replace the batteries in and that will last forever. I will still use my spinners and those cheap dripping attys. Can not beat the battery life on the MVP2.

Unfortunately I can't seem to find "precise +" on fasttech.

finally found this

Precise Plus 18650 Mechanical Mod By Super T Manufacturing - REVIEW

It is a "mod" (battery tube).

They don't have the P+ on Fasttech. It is a manufactured in the US and uses Rhodium for the contacts, which I haven't seen so far on any clone. I wrote that review, and while I like the P+ just fine, there's nothing that special about it and I don't even really use it anymore.

I have been rocking the launcher clone ($23) and JM clone ($15) from FT and they both work just as good and are actually designed better. SO you definitely don't have to spend a lot to get good performance.

My husband has a Provari mini and he likes it, but the battery life is atrocious. It's so short that he ended up buying a full-sized plus extender cap, just so he can use the biggest batteries and get some time on it. If he's just bringing the mini out and about, he always brings an extra battery, even if he's just put in a freshly charged one.

Oops forgot to reply to with quote.

This is for Jenn Perry,

Nothing worse "as far as vaping goes" is a vaper friend that steals from you. The vaping community is so cool. I love all the people I met that vape...something special about us. But obviously there are jerks in the vaping community too. If I had the money, I would buy you a new hot pink sid. Sorry for your loss.

I honestly wish I were more like the OP for my wallet's sake, but that's just not me unfortunately. )=

I think for me the reason I wanted to upgrade was mainly because of a lack on consistency. Don't get me wrong, I love my protanks and EVODs, but even though they worked great most of the time, the performance wasn't the same every single time; especially as the head got a fair amount of use.

A big part of smoking I think is that every cigarette is just like the last cigarette you smoked. That same draw, smoke production, throat hit, taste, everything was very consistent. Smoking for me was a little more than just a nicotine addiction or oral fixation I suppose. It's hard to quit smoking if you aren't satisfied every single time you vape. I even notice that some people who are new to vaping tend to go back to cigs once they notice their setup performing differently than it had before.

This is reason #1 why I use drippers now though. As long as there's juice on that coil, it gonna hit, it's gonna hit well, and every hit is going to be exactly the same. It's kind of a pain in the ... sometimes, but it's just my preference.

I will 100% forever still love and recommend an ego twist with a kanger tank though. I was pretty impressed with the Protank 2 Mini I got my mom for Christmas.

This is my <$40 setup I've been using for almost 2 months, and I don't plan on upgrading for another couple months. The CE4's work great for the thin light juice I vape, esp. when I'm careful w/ them all the time. I'm getting solid performance outta my 1100 & 650 Ego clones too. I'm trying to use the tips for prolonging Li-ion from batteryuniversity.com which has solid info. I use both batteries all the time, and charge them twice a day. I never top them off to 100%, and the good thing w/ these batteries, is the LED color on the charger changes from red to yellow when the battery is almost full. It's probably about 85% at that point, and that's when I pull it off the charger. That last 15% or so takes at least a half hour cuz the charging has to slow down, and it's more taxing on the cell. I charge em in the morning when I get up, and later on in the day when I've vaped 1/2 mL or so. They're still far from being drained, but there's no benefit whatsoever of letting them get low. I have a 3rd backup battery I use when charging. According to the testing on that site, if you could always keep the batteries over 50% capacity, and never topped them off stopping at 75-85% capacity, you would get MORE than the 300 cycles that Li-ion touts. It was possible to get over 600 full cycles, w/ these frequent shallow discharges and partial charges. So the 2 batteries I'm using, I've never had either 1 die on me yet, and they've only been topped off maybe a couple times each. I pretty much always pull them off the charger when the LED goes yellow, which typically takes 30-90mins at the most, depending on the previous usage. I'm curious how long they last for, cuz when ppl hear 300 cycles, they hope for a year - but w/ the Ego clones, I hear ppl saying they usually die within a few months. These are almost 2 months now, and they're still going good as new.
