I work in a vapeshop, and we treat everybody with the same respect. It's actually quite pleasing to see the younger crowd mix with the older crowd. It's like a community in a sense. It's all about the vibe you give off as a sales person. Everybody is helpful, cheerful, and full of vapetalk. I've got younger folks helping out new customers with questions they have. Yes there's the young kids, and then there's the older crowd, but all of them get the same service across the board.

Find the right vapeshop for you, you deserve to be treated well. It's awesome to have a place to hangout and talk vape. That is what we're trying to create for all who visit. It's important to have a community, here online, and if you are lucky, at your local vapeshop.

When I started vaping I thought of a vape shop like a modern day donut shop. Place to go and relax and be surrounded by people how have the same interests. Unfortunately for me the closest vape shop is not like that. But I have been to some that are and it was one of the highlights of my trips..
Sorry to hear that. But I agree, a shop should not only provide product, but a place, a community, to hang out for a bit and talk vape. Too many of these new shops, they only want their piece of the pie, collect the money, and move on with their day. As a customer I want a personal experience, have a friendly chat, and a place to sit down if the time allows it.

There is a local vape shop within minutes of my residence. One employee has rubbed some customers the wrong way and just has a nasty demeanor. I had a run-in with him and I stopped going. I buy most of my supplies online and have found one or two shops where the employees are friendly and knowledgeable Not sure if in my case if it was age related - he seemed nasty and argumentative with most everyone.

Some people don't want a job ... they just want a paycheck. Retail is one of those environments where there's lots of turnover. It's crazy how some retail sales people act like customers are an interruption of their work day.

Novasonic, it's good that you like what you do. Too many in the vape shop business don't take the time to fully explain vaping to their customers.

I was actually thrilled that a vape shop opened so close to my home. It is in a great location where I usually shop. Even tho I purchase mainly online I would have continued to give them a decent amount of business. This particular clerk was plain nasty. I knew the owner a bit and I think he was a bit afraid that this guy would quit so he let him get away with a lot - likely alluding to your turnover comment.

I don't really care if the clerks are not overly friendly -- but I refuse to patronize a business where they are plain nasty or just not helpful. Thankfully we still have many other choices. For now!

There are 5 vape shops in less than 3 miles from where I live. I have been in all of them a few times but I do not go to any of them anymore. Not because I was treated badly or because much higher prices than online but because they do no have things that I want to buy. I was looking to buy Nautilus 5ml tank none had it. I was looking to buy extra Nautilus2 tank none had it. I wanted to buy Nautilus bvc 0.7 ohm coils none had it. I wanted to buy Joytech Ego One tank and CLR coils none had it. When I asked about Berserker, Ares, Siren RTA nobody in those shops hear about them... what they tried to sell me was dozen colorful tacky Smok Aliens and different Baby Beast tanks /coils or other high wattage attys... and e-juice. I am 60 and started vaping in December. In those 3 months I learned a lot, spent a few hundred dollars on mods coils, DIY tools(coil making ) syringes, wicking,PG,VG, flavors, nicotine... most of those dollars went to online shops... their loss and my gain because I am rather impatient person so just because those local vape shops did not had things I wanted allowed me to save a lot of money...

That kind of thing used to go on with computer and stereo shops. Everyone was a self claimed expert and the sales people would argue with the customer and each other over what was best.

I agree. It is their loss. Even the shop I had referenced had pushed things on me that I had no interest in and tried to steer me away from items I asked about.

Now that I have become more experienced, I also realize that they really inflated the prices on certain items as well.

I'm sure there are some fantastic full-service B & M shops around, however I have not found any.

It's probably been years since I last set foot in any vape shop.

I just buy everything that I need online, from juice to mods to coils.

I've also had a few bad experiences with vape shops.

A few years ago I went to a shop to buy some juice and I was vaping 18 mg at the time. I bought a bottle of the juice that I liked at 18 mg and when I got home I noticed that they had given me a 12 mg bottle.

Was that intentional on their part or was it merely an innocent accident?

I didn't open the bottle and I went back to the vape shop and I told them about the error and they said that they didn't have any 18 mg in stock, so I am thinking that they intentionally gave me the 12 mg, even though I clearly requested the 18 mg juice.

And then they tried to sell me a small bottle of 24 mg halo clear, so that I could add it to the 12 mg bottle and make it stronger. So I should have to pay extra for their error?

Since then, I just buy everything online, much simpler, and also much cheaper and less hassle in my experience.

that's why i prefer the vape shop i go to usually to any other ones in my area, they treat everyone with the same respect wether you're a beginner or expert they have great customer service and people come back for them so to me they're awesome.

unfortunately lots of places are like the one you went to and i think it sucks but it's part of it.

I buy online. Cheaper and don’t have to wait until 20-something employees finish talking about how amazing their builds are and allow me to give them my money.

There are a couple of good B&Ms near me, but most are a waste of time.
You must have a huge selection of shops to choose from in downtown TO.
How many vape shops are within a mile of Toronto Hemp Company?

The Dash folks are good as is the retailer in Oshawa. I am in Whitby, so not much near me.

The downtown T.O. stores are much better as they cater mainly to 30-50year olds with money. Downtown Toronto is huge, so there isn’t as many B&Ms clustered nearby as you would expect.

The small suburbian stores are the ones that tend to suck.

I'm in Brampton and have had pretty much the same experience BreSha. Over the years I've been to Happy Vaper, Dash and Canvape. Service was good, sales staff knowledgeable and friendly and they have a lot of merchandise. It was some of the smaller vape shops I've visited that were pretty poor in knowledge and lacking in product depth.

IMO it's not age that matters, it's much more how management sets things up and decides who to hire and how to train them.

Agree with that 100%!
I was in retail for years, and I did not know a thing about what we sold. The company gave constant, comprehensive courses on every material.

I lived it. I did really well (although honestly I hate people! Lol) but I was good at listening to what they wanted and needed, and explaining the process to them.

There are a couple shops near me where the kids are kind and helpful to my little old self. They can answer my questions without being condescending

Young folk are no more likely to be rude than us old fogies are to be imbeciles.

And yes, I do buy a lot online, but I don’t mind supporting the locals even being a bit pricier. The convenience is worth it.

That wouldn't happen to be Bath and Bodyworks, would it?

Good luck. :)

Um no. It was floor coverings. I was trained by associates from Shaw.

Still a lot of good industry out there that believe in the principle. And we had that in vaping when it was a cottage industry and the juice bar model prevailed.

Good luck. :)

I agree as an older vaper, I haven't felt welcome in any of the vape shops I've visited. Not one. They're a hangout for 20 something cloud chasers and I'm OK with that. The 'kids' are great but I'm much more comfortable in a smoke shop that sells vape stuff or buying on-line. I often wonder how some of these places stay in business.

The wildly successful original vape juice bar model in CA spawned a unique sanctuary for both commerce and vapers which propelled this industry and community. It's basis was one of mutual exchange and informative collaborative self-interest. With its progressive decline under the thumb and gun of prospective gov coercion it sheds its purposeful value and succumbs. As a box house and outlet mentally sets in so do the typical denizens of such habitats. No better outcome could be imagined or hoped for by the wishful thinkers of bureaucracy. We are speechless.

Good luck ccm. :)
