I'm not sure how you can state any $40 device will last as long as an eVic, since it's only been out for a couple of months.

any $40 device lasts as long as an evic. and drop the vivi nova and get a carto tank. I started vaping with a vivi nova for the first 2 months and the flavors are all muted on it.

did you get the vision vivi nova? Many/most are knock offs. You can only tell when you open the top. Many of the knock offs have more of a nipple metal top but the vision doesn't. Also the wiring is better on the vision.
Which carto tank do you think has the best flavor? I heard thought vision vivi was supposed to be tops??

I've had one of these for about a month, and mine broke yesterday. I dropped it once a couple weeks ago and since then it developed a sensitivity to shocks (like even setting it down on a table too hard) and turning itself off. Then yesterday I reached into my pocket for it and the top of the control head had separated from the rest of the unit, leaving only a red and black wire connecting everything. It didn't look like anything actually broke - just came loose - but now it says there is a short in my atomizer (?). The eVic was novel with it's screen and all of that, but I don't have time or patience for something so fragile. Going to get a ProVari today.

Ok, so I am pretty clumsy and I have dropped my Evic at least 20+ times since getting it and it still works perfectly fine. I have noticed the same thing with kanger mt's though, where it says atomizer not found but I just wiggle it a bit and it works. I paid 77 bucks for mine and I'm happy. One day I'll have a Provari and then I won't look back but for now my Evic is working great, even with my clumsy-... self dropping it once a day.

Well, it seems to be the luck of the draw. Some people say their eVic's don't survive falls, where others claim indestructibility. I don't want to chance dropping mine. Just saying.

I don't know if I'd call it luck necessarily. Not all falls are equal. I personally think people should take good care of anything which costs $100 or more and maybe shouldn't blame the thing which broke without first admitting that it's at least possible they, not the unit, is to blame.

Where I realize not all falls are equal, the Provari will survive falls. I have occasional problems with the eVic freezing, and have to remove the battery to restore it. I also can't read the screen outside. I will not buy another, or recommend the eVic to anyone. One usually gets what they pay for.

Exactly. The Provari costs 60% more than my $100 eVic. They are not comparable in any meaningful way.

I'm happy to live with the tradeoff for the time being.

Vamo can survive falls also..........so.... what was your point? Heck, an Ego will survive most drops.

I have evic and Vamo - use each according to my liking at the time. Still far under the cost of a Provari and I like having more flexibility.

I don't buy assuming I'm an oaf and need a rock. I purchase to satisfy my personal desires.

The freezing screen. I can't see the screen outside. Several reports of broken eVic's when it's only been on the market for a couple months. I think I made my point. Each has their own reasoning. I still not recommend a eVic to anyone.

I also didn't say anything about the Vamo anywhere in my post. But if I did, I would recommend the Vamo 10 times over the eVic.

Edit: I prefer durability over flexibility any day.

LOL- to each his own I suppose.
I own (2) eVic and both have worked flawlessly from day one.

On our forums alone I'd bet the eVic issues are less than 1% and that is on an all new design release.

If people want the latest before anyone else they have to expect the possibility of growing pains. This is common with practically anything produced.

I have dropped my eVic twice and it still works fine. No screen freezes, my usb port cover is still intact and battery life is excellent. I've mentioned this before but I see the eVic more as a learning tool to understand the relationship between coil resistance, wattage, voltage, and battery usage. It also alerts you when the temperature of your mod reaches unsafe operating levels. Yes, it feels cheap (the weight is perfect for a jacket inside pockets) but for what this provides, I think $100.00 is a bargain.

yeah I was also thinking when I first got it how it's a great device for people new to the VV/VW thing. Good device for the price imo.

The thing is an Ecig is going to get dropped, either knocked over on a table roll off onto the floor or fall out of the pocket of your jacket. Mine usually rolls off my lap because I had it sitting there while doing something else. Wanting to buy something that is rugged and has a reputation of for reliability is a reasonable step if you expect said device to get a lot of abuse. Commenting on the relative ruggedness of different devices is not "blaming the thing" it's a basic observation and should be a factor in the decision process. If you know you are hard on devices, then the toughness of the device is an important consideration.

So for someone like me, who drops his e-cig on a pretty regular basis it is an extremely important factor in my purchasing decision and is a large part of the reason why I pulled the trigger on the Provari earlier this week rather than getting an Evic. I want to be sure I can rely on my mod and I'm not going to be left nicotineless just because it happened to fall out of my pocket as I was getting out of my car, for someone who plans on leaving their Evic sitting next to their computer 24/7 and have other devices or just don't tend to drop their devices as much it's not as important a consideration.

FYI unless I'm missing something, a provari is an upgrade to a twist (VV) not an evic (VW) or darwin (VW) or kick (VW) or DNA20 (VW) or vamo (VW)...

I've dropped the heck out of mine and its still fine. (I even managed to sit on it on the couch and completely gut the cartomizer inside the tank. Fortunately the sleeve stayed in place, so no leaks, but heart attack. And I've knocked tanks off-kilter dropping it hard enough that they ended up cross-threaded. Just unscrew and reseat and they were fine..)

I get about a day on the stock battery or the EH IMR 2000 mah, but I carry a spare anyway. (And I charge in the nitecore, not the evic. No issues opening the usb door, but I find it oddly placed and my evic spends the night standing upright so the usb cord tends to make it fall down..)

That said, I'm waiting for a vamo (vw) to arrive because eventually I'm gonna drop it and manage to do some damage. I also want the options the vamo has (18350, 18350x2, 18650.)

If you need something super indestructible, the gripper is prolly your best bet. (Straight mechanical though.) There is also a bottom feeder - can't find the link - that has a sturdy aluminum shell and can probably be kicked to go VW.
