Just when I thought I'd gotten the hang of refilling my cartos and telling when it's the battery or carto needs replacing, I've come to the conclusion I must be doing something wrong.

When I refill, my Wow carts only take about 1/2 ml of juice. After that the juice comes up the central tube and I have to suck it back into the syringe. Am I right in thinking these carts should take 1ml of juice? If so, why am I only getting .5 ml in them?

I don't change carts until I get that icky taste - not burnt exactly but not nice. I find I usually have to change the cart when I switch to a fresh battery, the off taste usually kicks in immediately I switch.

When I fill, I use a syringe down one side, fill till the juice comes up the tube & overflows, then suck it back into the syringe until I can see light down the tube. If I try to add a bit more, the light is occluded, which tells me there's too much juice in there.

Any ideas as to what's happening here?

I'd be curious to know how much juice is left in the carts when you change them. You might take a cart that you think tastes icky, one that you feel needs to be changed, and try a taryn spin (or perhaps in your case, just see if you can draw out any juice with your syringe). If you can only get 1/2 ml of juice in the cart, it may be that there's juice still in it.

I tend to change carts rather quickly, for the simple reason that I don't want to risk burning them. I don't get much more into a cart when I refill it than you are unless I've come close to, or have vaped it dry.

Ms. Katz by any chance are these happening on Nuport wow prefills?

Mostly blanks, and some of them it's their 2nd use. So I don't think it's a build up of anything. Rappel, I will try your suggestion, see if I can suck more out of them. But if so, what could cause them to taste icky?
I thought perhaps I was chain vaping too much for them to 'wick' properly, but even a 15 min break in vaping doesn't get them to taste okay again.

The ony thing that I can think of would be heat. I can start off with a newly filled cart and after vaping for a short time, it doesn't taste quite right. My problem is that I chain vape. The more juice, the better he distribution of heat, the less juice, the more concentrated the heat is. The equipment may not be burning, but perhaps with chain vaping, I am overheating the juice enough to give it that "off" taste. This is just a theory that I pulled out of the proverbial hat. Perhaps some of the long-term vapers might chime in and note any experience they have on the subject.

Well, I took some of my used carts and tried to suck any remaining juice out of some of them, but nothing came. Then I refilled them. Again, .5 -.75 ml each of about 12 cartos. Then I tried squirting a whole 1ml in but they were full to the top and threatening to overflow. I left them to see if it soaked in but it didn't. I am using a 3cc/ml syringe, so 1ml should be 1ml. Weird, but it is happening consistently.

Katz... I seem to have the same issue... when I first fill a black cool blank I get the 1ml in no problem..but after that it's usually more like .5 They do seem to last pretty well for me though. I know worry about running them dry so probably don't vape them as long as I could.:rickroll::banana::party:
(Okay I'll grow up some day..it's just new to me)

+1 Teslastick.....(note to self...make notation on calender)

After you get through vaping on those Katz, you'll need to give them a good rinsing. If they still flood the Air Tube after .5 to .75 ml...the wick has been compromised (burnt) and they will need to be tossed.

:2cool:

OH SNAP! Look at Iowa Gal go!

Ms. Katz have a slight update for you. So far can't reproduce it on blank black wow cartos (gone through a whole pack, trying the newer ones over the next few days), but on prefilled nuport wow cartos have had the same issue 8 out of 10 tries. Will take the cartos apart on friday to see what's going on. :)

Thanks M'Dir. I plan to have a refilling session again tomorrow, some will be new carts, some 1st refills of Nuport prefills, some older blanks that'll be on their 3rd refill. I will pay particular attention to how much each takes, keep notes this time to see if I can figure it out. Without scientific method, I have to say that some gold blanks I've refilled a few times do not seem to have this problem, and each fill lasts a lot longer than the black ones.

After you get through vaping on those Katz, you'll need to give them a good rinsing. If they still flood the Air Tube after .5 to .75 ml...the wick has been compromised (burnt) and they will need to be tossed.

On their 2nd refill? If the wick has been burned, would they still seem to work okay though? I always toss a cart that gets too hot, develops a hot spot or otherwise looks off when I open them to refill.

I did a major refill today, and the results are in, and somewhat surprising.
I thought my gold blanks were lasting longer than the black ones, but each of those only took .5ml !!! I have more unused, so I'll toss the old ones once I've vaped them.
Black blanks from my 1st batch tool .5, .25 and .75 ml. I think I'll toss these when done this time.
Black blanks from 2nd batch took mostly .5 though there were 2 x .75mls
Nuport prefills that have either been refilled once before or never, took .75mls except for one that tookk the full 1ml.

I did get one black blank from my 3rd batch, never used, and it took the full 1ml.

It sounds like a big cleaning session is in order?
