Sitting here vaping on my Screwdriver from the UK, dripping from bottles I've had since 2010 when I went through the ridiculous learning curve to figure all this out and amassed a huge stockpile of liquids from the PIF thread. I just pulled all my stuff out and got going again a week ago. Can't find my Ego charger and my old manual ecigs just don't do it for me. Logged in tonight for the 1st time in ages to see if I could buy another Screwdriver (apparently not), and maybe some TastyFinger juice:) I found this thread, thank god. Brought back so many memories and started refreshing my knowledge. I abandoned the cartridges for direct drip back then after trying all the tricks. Never met a cartomizer I liked. Soo, can you old-timers direct me to a good thread with a run-down of the new stuff? Or just tell me what to get? I want a mod that takes batteries like the screwdriver and I guess the most reliable juice holder thingy so I don't have to drip every few minutes. Anything new I need to know about attomizers?:)

Welcome back! It sounds like you need a major refresher course. There are so many more choices now. There are still dripping atties and cartos. But, now clearos are all the rage, both bottom coil and top coil. And, of course, carto-tanks which make cartos so much better than before.

Perhaps, the best place to start would be Baditude's Blogs:
A Good Starter's Setup for a Beginning Vapor
Proper terminology - Is it a carto, a tank, or what?
Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder with Egos and Mods

He also has blog posts about carto-tanks and battery safety.

Good luck on your new adventure!

I'd say get a couple of JoyE Ego Twists and a couple of Aspire Cartomizers. Just pick a shape of Cartomizer that is "ego threaded" and you are off to a great returning set up. They will probably give a much nicer vape than what you had before with your attys, or at least quite similar. They are essentially an atomizer in a tube that holds liquid.....and fairly inexpensive. The Twists are fun because they have regulation to vari the voltage/heat level of the vape with just the twist of an end cap.

We have more liquid vendors that I can count. Everyone has a favorite or two.

There are also more "mods"/ devices than I know the names of, quite varied price ranges and several vaping styles.

Attys have had a major evolution too and it's quite popular now for people to use Rebuildable Attys for use at home and things like the Aspire or somewhat similar for out and about.

So -- IMHO, start simple, and actually upgrade from your screwdriver with something pretty much "plug and play" and then learn about what you might like to own in the mod world and what trend suits your lifestyle.

Ask questions and you will get lots of varied responses to ponder.

And, most of all, have fun.

Welcome back.

I remember when a box mod was a pile of crap.

After starting with the cigalikes, I bought a few of the Missy's wetbox's.(see pic below) God they were terrible leaky messes, but without it, I never would have searched for a better box mod.....Been using a Reo Grand for nearly 3 years and couldn't be happier!

The sad thing is, I still have a few of these sitting on my shelf collecting dust and reminding me what life was like back in the olden days of vaping.....

I remember 'DonDaVoomVape' who tried to get me off of 808 cartos and into a 'Lil Sister' and some 801 & 510 drippers back in Sept 2010.

I remember Don telling me not to worry about the paranoia with the FDA........

I remember 'Cos' who was an ardent fan of the Green Cig cartos.

I remember the 'GO-GO'....I still have two that work today......a shame that it was discontinued...1300 mah in such a small form factor. I still use them on occasion with an adapter.

I remember, and still have, in working order, the Easy Elegant! Another small form factor that was actually elegant!

The GoGo is still around (not discontinued)! They just have a high MOQ, so only a handful still have it (there's even a VV version & a BCC clearo now too!) :)

Yes, I did forget about CigEasy; thanks for the reminder!

Are you talking about Cozzicon? AKA Michael Cozzi? If so, he is now on the CASAA board of directors.

No, this is another member......I believe 'Cos' still posts somewhere on ECF!

Good luck on your new adventure!

Thanks for all the replies, guys. Some of your names sound very familiar to me. I LIVED on this forum for months back then:) The other night when I posted, I, predictably, read ALL night, mostly in the veterans forum. Still need to work on moderation;) Seems many of the old-timers still use the classics. I am getting the feeling that cartos are completely different now, so I'm looking forward to trying one. Back then, cartos invariably tasted burnt to me. I still have a bunch of them unopened.

I remember PIF and the early co-ops. I'm now waiting to get my "verified" status so I can see what's going on in the classified section these days - assuming PIF is there? It was a great way to try new liquids, both branded and DIY. I loved the DIY recipe threads, but I never tried it myself.

I also remember a great thread about converting a children's smoke ring toy - The Wizard, I think. Loved The Wonderful World of Vaping (think that's right?). Tried in vain to understand the great experiments using meters, etc. trying to nail down the right batt/atty combos - still don't even know how to describe it:) Mostly, I remember the kind, helpful people I encountered!

Nope, Pay It Forward is a subforum now...
Pay It Forward - PIF

No need to wait until you are verified to poke around in there.

Donna, Screwdrivers still exist if you want one.
www.ecigscrewdriver.com The Home of an E Smoking Icon - Hosted by CaveCom

They use a 16340 battery. There are a lot of things around with longer battery life but I think some of the telescopic mods will use your old batteries. (Note: If it takes them in pairs, you should get new batteries. You are supposed to keep pairs dedicated so that you aren't combining an older, weak battery with a new, fresh one. And you aren't supposed to stack batteries in a mechanical mod.)
Quick search found The Magtneto at MadVapes. I'm sure there are others.

If my memory works right - Trogg was the first one to make a mod available for sale - and boy was it expensive...

I got my Screwdriver in early 2010 in a BOGO sale. I think it was $120 for 2. It was my 1st and only mod to date. Still use it today:D. Have yet to try a variable voltage mod:(

Need to post pics of the old containers I'm sorting through - full of original carto blister packs (never used cause they SUCKED), little ziplocks of cut-up straws, all sorts of filler materials, rubber cartridge caps, stuff for doing Leaford's Taryn spin, .......ized atomizers, adapters for days...
