Yesterday I was having preventative maintenance done on my truck.

Got to having a reminiscent discussion with the shop manager.

As he smokes back to back cigs he mentions he's peeved about his 15 yr old son vaping.

Says the boy doesn't even use nicotine.

Says he doesn't understand, the boy never even smoked.

He just does it to show off.

I mention it's a whole lot safer alternative.

Then point out that with dad as the prime example, without vaping he'd likely be a smoker.

He says "yeah, but what's next?".

Says if someone vaping was able to influence him, he'll be faced with peer pressure again.

And how's that going to go?

Valid point. It's his kid.

Except we're not there yet and dad is already pushing him away being stubborn and angry.

This should be a time of open discussion.

The first "mistake" has already been made. On both parts.

And the boy has already been hiding the least harmful substance he could be partaking in.

There's a barrier there that needs to be broke down lest the boy get too deep into the next substance for dad to help.

At least this one is nearly harmless and easy to quit.

A perfect practice run and chance for bonding and education.

When I started vaping 6 years ago, I never thought it would be anything other then a stop smoking aid. as time went by you heard of rumors that kids were doing it, just for the fun of it, Even then I thought it was just the FDA making accusations, but in the past year, I have seen first hand how far this has all stretched.

Kids do everything...

Just for the fun of it.

I never doubted that part.

Though I never considered it a legit talking point considering the minimal possibility of harm VS what's at stake.

I wonder how many kids will try smoking instead of vaping once the FDA kills it.
I wonder if we will see a spike upward in teen smoking.
I wonder if teens currently vaping nicotine will switch to smoking.
I wonder in 40 or 50 years patients in the Comprehensive Cancer Center will wonder what might have been.
I wonder how many fellow patients in the Comprehensive Cancer Center wish vaping was available in the 60's.

I joined vaping only 2 ago so i had it easy but here goes:

I remember when "Air Flow Control" was the new "Game Changer"
The Nautilus Just Came out
The Kanger Protanks 3 duel coil controversy.
Provape Vs Mech was still a thing
Authentic vs Clone was still a thing
I made a Thread about a eLeaf iJust battery and asked if it was a good battery and everyone said who is eleaf?

When I started vaping, variable voltage had just come out with the eGo Twist. That was heralded as the Game Changer. :) That was my first vape. I still have a couple.

Edit to add: Whoops! The ProVari was also out at that time. It was too expensive for me to purchase. I didn't want to spend that kind of money on something that I didn't know if it would actually work. A couple months after I had completely stopped smoking, I got Hubby to buy me a ProVari for my Christmas present.

Agreed, Robino! I will always think of the Twist as the "game changer". Wasn't it Nick who titled that one?

Yes, yes it was! I remember watching that video when I was haunting ECF and watching and learning as much as I could before buying anything.

to those who don't know, Nick was/is Grimm Green

Here's the video that started MY journey:

I was really wrong on this one...

I can go back and find posts where I argue vehemently that kids will never get into vaping.
Back in the day they all thought it looked stupid and was for losers.

I guess we can thank the ANTZ for making it appear rebellious.
And blame them for kids starting to vape when they never smoked.

Without their help, I still think kids and teens would have left it alone.
But I've been wrong before, as previously noted.

While you wonder...

The FDA, the ANTZ, the CDC, the WHO, and mainstream media already know the answer.
Because they are making up the answer by twisting reality as they go.

We'll just have to see how long they can keep it up in the face of the truth.

Today I went back in the day..... Put down my sub ohm gear, and fired up a Vamo , 10 amp panny, cartotank at 3 ohm's, 12 mg tobacco juice , 12 watts...Loving it, the flavor, the battery life, decent air flow..... Actually quite satisfied......I just tired of filling up tanks constantly, changing batteries, lung hits, lack of flavor unless it's 25 percent......I decided I'll dual use since I have at least 2000 cartos( yes, 2,000) and they would turn to dust long before I used them, as well as upteen 10 amp batteries, never mind mods .......The old becomes new ..... I'll still sub ohm but it's a refreshing change to go back

In the past couple weeks I've gone through some of the "stuff" I bought over the years and found to be pretty useless, from the early days. It sounds weird, but I don't even remember buying some of that junk, what its name is, or even how to use some of it.

But, I found a couple relics I can't part with, I guess for sentimental reasons. One is a Carlos Juicebox with a personalized graphic of a photo I took on an Oregon vacation in 2006. The other, is the Knight Sticks cigalike, in its original packaging, which was the first crappy eCig I bought in 2010, which led to my instant, accidental, quitting of a 35 year cigarette smoking career.

Then there was that box mod, damn I can't remember the name right now, it was really advanced for its time ... and pricey for its time at about $200, which I don't have because it was recalled. Had a fatal flaw which allowed eLiquid to leak into its electronics. They gave a full refund, which I took. I considered keeping it in spite of the fact that it was destined to become a brick, but got my refund.

EDIT: The box mod I mentioned above was an Eclipse EQ from digitalciggz.
I found the original 'owner's manual' today. And it didn't cost the $200 I mentioned above, it was $300! Yikes!
Do a search here on ECF for 'digitalciggz eclipse eq' for some relevant threads.

It was an interesting programmable device, in the days before tanks. It used an internal 6ml bottle and the eLiquid was pumped up to the atomizer via a micro piezo electronic pump. It featured variable voltage, used a single 18650 cell, had an innovative pressure pad control interface and capacitance buttons rather than conventional switches. And lots of other nifty features either not common or unprecedented in 2011.

Oddly, it wasn't all of the electronic gadgetry which was the device's demise, but a low tech eLiquid leaking into the control electronics problem.

A few videos:

Since I'm less than 2 1/2 years into this (850 days more approximately..), and my memory hasn't gone too far off, I can remember most everything of my journey. But for a $200.00 refund, I would've taken that too, and a picture or three..

Was it the darwin? I remember when I going to buy my first vv device in 2011, it was between the darwin or provari. I wound up buying a v1 provari because I thought the shape of the darwin was weird because it was a box. Looking back it was ahead of its time and was , I believe evolves first chip

No, it wasn't a Darwin. I considered one of those too. It seems to me the name started with the letter Q.
I'll be doing more housework today and will likely run across the name in paperwork. I'll report back and edit the name in.

Yeah, I should've snapped a few pictures before I re-boxed it up. It made me sad. Like everybody else who received one, I had been on a waiting list that seemed to last forever. And then, within two days of delivery, came the recall.

One heartwarming post, Doc. You've inspired me. I may just load up a karto tank (of which I have many, like you)!
