I guess that the big thing with e-cigs is that you have options. With all other stop smoking methods...all you can do is just sit and wait and hope it works. With e-cigs you are an active participant...you can vap when you want...change liquids...change devices...change nic lvls...FIND YOUR SWEET SPOT!!! I don't have time to worry about not smoking...I'm to busy with vaping:)

I think most of us had the fear of "what if this doesn't work, either." We've all tried to quit so many times and with so many ways that we just give up on quitting.

I don't want to side-track Izabella's thread, but this post so hit home with me, EXCEPT ... I was just the opposite. I think I was actually afraid to try an e-cig in case it did work. How sick is that? I was so hung up on smoking that I was like one of those caged rats that'll push the nicotine button over and over instead of the food button and let themselves starve to death in the process. Smoking was such a big part of my life that I literally couldn't imagine life without smoking.

Not sick at all. As a matter of fact, it makes sense. Smoking was a huge part of our lives and many of us couldn't imagine our lives without it. Now that I think about it, your post is probably more accurate. Smoking was our "best friend" and "worst enemy" all at the same time and not much different from any other addiction.

And now we return you to your regularly scheduled thread discussion...

Izabella... welcome!! I posted elsewhere that I actually started vaping in 2009, with SmokeStik. Good units, but had to continuously charge them, and my Gentleman friend, at the time, really wasn't into it. Long story shorten (not short!).... I have MS, and it decided to SLOW me down. I had (still do) been spending the majority of my time in my bedroom, smoking. My bedroom is big, 26X15, I have central air, and a ceiling fan in my bedroom. I have emphysema, and develop a horrid cough...of course my cough was do to 'a cold' (denial!!). I had to go to a Doctor's appointment, was gone all day, came back, walked into my bedroom, and almost passed out from the STENCH! OMG, I never noticed it before.

I took out my SmokeStiks (5 of them), bought 2 NJoys, NJoy cartomizers and started vaping again. At first, I would have 3-4 analogs.... then, after a full day of vaping, no analogs, I wanted an analog. EWWWW, it was the nastiest taste! I now have a 4081 pt for hotter THs, and a Leo 800, thanks to all the information I've obtained through ECF. I just got in the tank atomizer, and tanks. I thought I only wanted menthol, then "tried" some flavors. I have lost interest in analogs totally, am thrilled with the plumes of vapor (chain vaping), love the wonderful flavors, love the aroma some of the flavors leave behind, and am sharing all with family and friends (I'm a PV pusher now).

I washed my walls, carpet, sprayed the ceiling, washed all the furniture, and next week, ALL SMOKING will be banned in this house (my daughter and b/f will receive their Leos next week). My Grandbabies no longer tell me I "stink", and I actually stopped coughing!

You have started on an awesome journey, and one, I believe, you will find very pleasant! Congrats!

Good job Isabella, a lot of us wean off over time, this is not a race, just do what works for you and that is what counts. I did ot and before I knew it, I just quit the analogs after 30 years and it was becuase I stayed with the vaping and found a juice that works, and the right hardware, Provari, Ali'i and the reo mods!

I keep reminding myself that I didn't start out smoking over a pack a day, so it stands to reason that it's fab to be where I am right now and I should celebrate that...and that makes me think I want to have a cigarette because that's how I'd usually celebrate the small victories...such an insidious habit! Oh the mind games!

Good on ya izabella. As stated...not quitting, but switching. Studies have shown the chemical receptors in the brain are stronger for nicotine than they are for opium! It's easier to get off the "horse" than it is to quit smoking.

What did it for me was the anticipation of the birth of my 1'st grand daughter in February. I just didn't want to stink like cigarette smoke when I was around her. I had been "vape-curious" for several months and my wife got me a kit for Christmas of 2010.

Yes, it does take some dedication to change the habit of just buying a pack of smokes to dealing with charging batteries and making sure you have supplies on hand. It really is just trading one habit for another, and for me it is no less expensive. But, no more smelling like smoke. No more burned car upholstery or clothing. No more stepping out for a cig ( I have mastered "stealth-vaping" - even at work). No more cigarette breath and I do feel better physically.

You are on the right track.

You know, I think it takes just as much dedication to maintain a smoking habit, both on a practical as well as mental level. I think all of that falls into the "big pile of suck" that got me to this point. It has been becoming harder and harder for me to continue smoking.

An entire bottle of Fabreze, right over my bed. I used bleach water on everything else, including the carpet.

Now, my Grandbabies like to guess the flavor I'm vaping, from the aroma!

I did not know you could Febreeze the ceiling!!! I am shocked that I did not know that, since I use so much of the stuff that those Febreeze people should erect a statue in my honor. Or at least send me a Christmas card.

Lmao..... I just realized that analog smoke goes up, alot.... so I knew that the ceiling was holding a great deal of stink. I was afraid to spray bleach water (as some spray falls down), so the only thing I could think of was the Febreze (not sure of spelling, threw empty bottle away!).
