:vapor:Welcome Izabella! Baby steps, baby steps :) There is a "learning curve" with e-cigs, but this forum (and videos) is great. I have been vaping since May,2011. Before that a pack and a half a day smoker. Keep the faith.....one day you may pick up an analog and go, UCK!!!! this doesn't taste like the luscious Buttercream Icing (or whatever) I'm used to !!! :) :vapor:

Congratulations, Izabella. I had the same way of thinking about it, I could have a cigarette any time I wanted to. I just found that, after about a week of vaping, that I didn't want to anymore. Last month, 3 months after my "last" analogue, I smoked another one. My brother was visiting from out of state, and he asked me how vaping compared to smoking in terms of satisfaction. I couldn't really remember how smoking felt/tasted, so I smoked one of his cigarettes. Funny, it didn't taste awful, like it did right after I switched, and I kind of enjoyed it--but it wasn't as satisfying as vaping. That is amazing to me--that after 40+ years of 1.5 PAD smoking, I could have a cigarette and just say "Meh, my RIVA with the VG cola in the clearomizer is so much better, I think I'll just stick with this. Thanks for the cig."

It just keeps getting better.

You know what I think is amazing? That a month ago, I would have had no idea wtf a "RIVA with the VG cola in the clearomizer" meant. At all. And now, I know exactly what you mean!

Congratulations, Izabella. im about to take my first step too. Gd luck to u!

Thank you! I hope you enjoy it, too!

i was smoking and got into ecigs as an alternative, my new indoor cigarette (my wife doesn't smoke), it didn't stink it smelt better and was more satisfying, didn't start as an intention to quit smoking, but over time the preference just happened and the ecig is the go to choice, you can use a typewriter to make a letter but why would you choose that when you can use a laptop, the ecig is so much more versatile (different voltages, resistors, coils, flavors) that analogs that make your fingers/clothes/breath/car stink and just feel dirty, ecigs are the clean wave of the future...

Izabella...

First off, GOOD JOB on giving E-Cigs a try! If you really want to replace those coffin nails, it will take time, and a 5-Volt mod! lol

I first started using E-Cigs about 3 months ago, and smoking less and less tobacco. After trying many different E-Cig configurations, I built a Variable Voltage Mode and started using Dual Coil Cartomizers. That was 1 month ago. As of almost 3 weeks ago, I finally had my last coffin nail, and I couldn't be happier!

Hang in there and you'll be smoke free in no time!

Isn't it funny? So intimidating and kind of scary at first. A couple of weeks on ECF and a bit of vaping and experimenting, and suddenly you realize, "Hey! I totally know all this stuff!" and all your friends start to back away when you start raving about the latest Great New Vape Hardware and how it totally brings out the complexity of your Boba's Bounty.

And this is one of the best things about this forum and about vaping - everyone is so happy about it, and feels great. Great enough to rave about it.

I never expected that, and yet, here it is. 'Grats to everyone!

That's one of the things that I think still freaks me out a little. I first started vaping a little over 11 months ago, and while I did have a relapse due to some bad juice, I've been vaping full time on the good stuff for the last 4 months -- and I'm still excited about it. That just doesn't happen with me these days, yet there it is. It's awesome. :)

I'd grown to believe that not smoking would be hard and grim. Fighting cravings all the time, making my jaw hurt chewing gum, and what in the world would I do with my hands and all those blank spots of time that cigarettes filled? Eat?

That it could be fun and tasty and satisfying never crossed my mind. That it wouldn't be grim and that I wouldn't be miserable never crossed my mind. That I wouldn't feel DEPRIVED of something I really wanted? Did not think it was possible.

Maybe that's why I'm so thrilled now; I epxected it to be torture and it turned out to be so easy and feel so right almost immediately.

First, congrats on making the switch, Izabella!!

It's been a bit more than a month since I dropped analogs completely, but I didn't truly think of myself as a non-smoker until I realised something. Like you, I'd always counted not smoking a process that would be "hard and grim" - I've long lost count of how many times I've quit (~30 years, PAD+). But then it sunk in (a bit of a shock to me) - the denial and cravings had turned from "I can't smoke right now" (at work, in the car/store etc.) to "I don't have to smoke right now", and then to "I don't want to smoke right now". I'm definitely a non-smoker now.

"Thrilled" fits perfectly - it was not a torturous process at all (even though I did have some withdrawal symptoms). That alone makes me confident that this will be my last quit - every time I'd done this before (without a PV), it was a painful exercise in denial and longing. Not so much any more. Instead, even a month on, I remain thrilled to be free of smoking cigarettes and all the badness that comes with that particular activity.

Anyway, welcome to the cool kids club!! :)

It is a shock to get to that point where you don't care about smoking and don't choose to. For me, the most helpful part is that my hand-to-mouth obsession is covered. I can't tell you how often I've gone through half a pack of smokes unconsciously while working on a spreadsheet. Just automatic light, inhale, concentrate, light, inhale, smoke, smoke, smoke.

This way, I can do all that motion and inhaling without burning anything, yay.

Congratulations to you!!

I always hated that part. I don't know how many times I've pulled out a smoke, lit it, took a drag, and then go to put it in the ash tray only to discover there's already one there that I forgot I lit and it went out. Don't have to worry about that anymore. My E-cig goes out every time I put it down. :)

Also, no more lighting the wrong end.

It does, it does! But I still have those moments where I get immersed in something, and then suddenly jump for a second and look for my PV because I expect to find it "burning" in the ash tray.

haha.. I feel better now; I'm not the only one.

I purged my space of ashtrays, so I took to parking my 510 on my ear (like I used to do with analogs before they're lit). I've already lost track of how many times I've been searching around frantically for it only to realise it's right where I left it. Likewise, my Darwin goes "missing" sitting on my desk with all the other computer-ish gear. It even has a USB port (for charging), so it blends right in.

Hi, I'm really new here, and a little lost. I am extremely ready to get a feeder with a big enough battery to last all day. I've done research for weeks & weeks, and after weeding out the rest, I have stumbled upon Reo's, Ali'i, Phidias, Monkeyboxx, and even the EQ! I can't find any for sale anywhere but here, but I can't PM anyone until I post 5 times. It's ok, but hard to have another step in between me and quitting. Any ideas on where I can get one of these remarkable devices before I go nuts? Thank you so much, 1/5th of the way towards PM privileges!! ;-)
