I don't want to jinx it, but I think I finally found a tank I can live with.
I don't like the nautilus, for reasons I won't go into again. Suffice it to say that I had to do entirely too much tinkering with the thing just to be able to vape with it at all. And then I switched to higher VG juice (because I found a brand, Charlie Noble, that makes four flavors that I am currently in love with!) and the stupid thing just wouldn't wick it. Every third hit was a burnt dry hit, no matter what I did. My protank 3 and mini-aerotank seemed to not really like the higher VG stuff, either, and I thought that maybe I could make do with the iClear 30s, but even with all those holes leading to the wicks I was still getting some dry hits and some funky taste.
I was starting to think that I was in big trouble because even though I am currently loving my pv (iStick) I couldn't find a tank that would get me through the day. I really love my Orchid RTA, but it is not a running around town with my vape in my purse tank which I found out the hard way after it leaked an entire tank of juice all over my wallet and the mail.
I was really at a loss, it was getting super frustrating, and I really just wanted to FREAKING VAPE and have it work without tinkering or drama or annoyance or a mess.
Then I ran by my favorite B&M today to stock up on my juice because we're going out of town for the holidays, and they showed me a tank I'd never even heard of before. The Smoktech GDC tank! It is built like the nautilus (except the metal part of the tank is one piece instead of screwing down on top of the glass, so no vacuum to fail and ooze juice out the air holes) and the coil has an adjustable head that allows you to customize how much juice goes in it!
I did a search here on the forums and only found one post about this little guy, which is surprising. I know that lots of people think that aspire and kanger are the two big tank makers, and maybe anything else might be considered a cheaper substitute but I am loving this tank! The metal part that screws to the bottom of the tank is much easier to screw in than my nautilus, the airflow is just as good, and using the adjustable juice-flow coils I have been chain vaping my high VG juice all day with nary a dry hit to be had! The flavor is good, the vapor is good, and even though the juice-flow is wide open, I haven't had a problem with gurgling either.
For those of you who have had problems with the nautilus or the aerotank, it might be something to consider. Price-wise it's a little cheaper than the nautilus, the coils are about the same price, and oh my god, I'm actually sitting in one spot vaping without a paper towel/q-tip close at hand AND not being treated to the lovely flavor of burnt whatever the heck that stuff in the BVC coil is at random!
