If You're Frustrated With Your Nautilus/Aerotank

I don't want to jinx it, but I think I finally found a tank I can live with.

I don't like the nautilus, for reasons I won't go into again. Suffice it to say that I had to do entirely too much tinkering with the thing just to be able to vape with it at all. And then I switched to higher VG juice (because I found a brand, Charlie Noble, that makes four flavors that I am currently in love with!) and the stupid thing just wouldn't wick it. Every third hit was a burnt dry hit, no matter what I did. My protank 3 and mini-aerotank seemed to not really like the higher VG stuff, either, and I thought that maybe I could make do with the iClear 30s, but even with all those holes leading to the wicks I was still getting some dry hits and some funky taste.

I was starting to think that I was in big trouble because even though I am currently loving my pv (iStick) I couldn't find a tank that would get me through the day. I really love my Orchid RTA, but it is not a running around town with my vape in my purse tank…which I found out the hard way after it leaked an entire tank of juice all over my wallet and the mail.

I was really at a loss, it was getting super frustrating, and I really just wanted to FREAKING VAPE and have it work without tinkering or drama or annoyance or a mess.

Then I ran by my favorite B&M today to stock up on my juice because we're going out of town for the holidays, and they showed me a tank I'd never even heard of before. The Smoktech GDC tank! It is built like the nautilus (except the metal part of the tank is one piece instead of screwing down on top of the glass, so no vacuum to fail and ooze juice out the air holes) and the coil has an adjustable head that allows you to customize how much juice goes in it!

I did a search here on the forums and only found one post about this little guy, which is surprising. I know that lots of people think that aspire and kanger are the two big tank makers, and maybe anything else might be considered a cheaper substitute…but I am loving this tank! The metal part that screws to the bottom of the tank is much easier to screw in than my nautilus, the airflow is just as good, and using the adjustable juice-flow coils I have been chain vaping my high VG juice all day with nary a dry hit to be had! The flavor is good, the vapor is good, and even though the juice-flow is wide open, I haven't had a problem with gurgling either.

For those of you who have had problems with the nautilus or the aerotank, it might be something to consider. Price-wise it's a little cheaper than the nautilus, the coils are about the same price, and oh my god, I'm actually sitting in one spot vaping without a paper towel/q-tip close at hand AND not being treated to the lovely flavor of burnt whatever the heck that stuff in the BVC coil is at random!

Very cool. Not a lot of info out there about these, but the few reviews are pretty good. Thanks for the heads up! I love trying new tanks too (although I've had a very different experience with my Aspire and Kanger tanks than you seem to have had, they work pretty well for me now after all of the "fiddling").

Going to see if I can find a local source for one of these GDC's :)

It seems slightly smaller than my full sized nautilus with the metal sleeved glass, but holds about the same amount of liquid. It fits perfectly on the top of my iStick IMO, not too top-heavy, just a slight overhang (which my leather case makes unnoticeable.)

I didn't find a lot about it online anywhere either, no reviews other than that one YouTube video. I bought mine at my local MadVapes, which I know is a chain that might be near lots of people, we have them all over NC anyway. It was recommended to me by a girl that works there, because she knew the many problems I was having with my nautilus as far as dry hits and the coil tasting gross. Not all coils available for it have the adjustable juice ports but the coils with that feature are no more expensive than the ones without. 1.6 seems to be the only resistance they come in.

I've been using it nonstop for three days now, and having used it, and the nautilus (big and mini) and the aerotank (mega and mini) as well as a protank 3 and an iClear 30s…it is by far the best tank I have used that isn't rebuildable. I have even continued to use it in the evenings when I'm home instead of switching to my Orchids, because it's just so much simpler to use. The only thing that I can see about it is that the way it is designed inside and doesn't come apart at the top, it would be a little more difficult to wash out and dry out if you wanted to wash it between fillings. All my juice complements one another, so I haven't washed it out yet. The metal piece in the middle would make it impossible to stick a q-tip in there to dry it out. But I think the construction of it is good enough to justify taking a little more time to clean it out. Flavor quality is still good, the coil is still going strong vaping high VG juice, and as far as I'm concerned, it kicks the crap out of the nautilus on multiple levels, including the quality of how it is built.

So, there is one satisfied customer review for you, anyway.
