This time of the year isn't helping your situation... holiday stress, not much sunlight, financial burdens, job worries, freezing cold. Start counting the ones you didn't smoke and gradually add to the count with joy. Buy some extra cartons and tuck them away out of sight and let them go staler than stale. Those will be your back ups for the next time you face this awful situation. The new packs taste too good ... I think they've changed their recipe somehow. It's making it tougher to resist than last year's batches. Prepare for the next battle while you're fighting this one. Gear up young man, you're in a war!!

I useto smoke 3-5 packs of Marb reds...

There's really no trick to it, simply keep smoking and vaping, I really didn't try to quit smoking at all it just happened over time.

After awhile I started keeping a pack in my desk drawer with the "intention" of not opening it until I really wanted it. If I did open it I didn't kick myself nor did i "ration" the remaining smokes honestly I tended to smoke analogs over the e-cig until the pack was empty, then I'd buy a new one and start over again just using my e-cig until I "had to" have an analog.

It really wasn't until my wife pointed it out to me that I hadn't had an analog in awhile and I was like yeah your right, I opened my desk drawer, took out the receipt (tossed the it in with each pack so I would know a "date") and saw it was like 6 weeks since I bought that pack...

As for low res, I tried thouse honestly I don't like the taste differece between a solid regular 510 verse a low res 510. The biggest difference was finding QUALITY regular 510's not to plug any one place but I've found Clouds of Vapor to be the most consistent quality attys.

The best advice I can give you since I've converted a number of people I find myself saying this over and over: First and formost don't beat yourself up! Just keep at it, there will be a "magic" day that your tastes change and analogs won't taste as good as the vapor, and then after that, you will eventually hate the taste of analogs.

Oh yeah also I did go thru a number of other e-cigs before I found one that worked for me, so possibly your hardware maybe an issue, I started with the Blu, then the njoy neither worked for me, then I found this forum and everyone recommended the Joye eGo or Riva, with low res attys, as i said tho I did find I liked the regular atty, and eventually found I perfered the Riva battery the 750mah batts over the 650 Joye batts, seemed to give a more consistent hit.

Not medical advice, just some thoughts:

...snip....To think at the end of the summer I was down to 12Mg, and vapping 1/2 a ml a day......WTF happened? ... snip...

IMHO... that's what happened. You nailed it already. Too little nicotine, and back to the smokes! I don't suggest 48 mg, but hey that's me and not you. I do know the following from "quit smoking" classes and help sessions:

Your brain gets modified to want/need nicotine. The neurons change. And... it takes a long time, if ever, to lose [most of] that. Your brain... off nicotine... will adjust eventually. But, it's an addiction. Never anywhere else in your body. Your brian. Your neurons. And it's nice to say... "we'll I'm down to 12 mg now...." But it takes a loooong time to change for most people. And it never really goes away (the addiction). Once and addict, always an addict they say. It varies a bit based on the age you started, how much exposure you had, your specific biochemistry, depression, etc. The MAOI effect is powerful too. In fact, MAOIs are beneficial for some. So.......

I'd say try not to lower your nic too fast (don't OD either!!!). Snus may help. They are working on some "safer snus" too.... see the news section of the forum. Also, your doctor should discuss this stuff with you.

Don't feel bad for falling "off the wagon". Meh. Get back on. Just don't cut down so fast that you crave cigs over e-cigs. Your doctor may give you other options, esp for the MAOI issues if you feel that is a factor for you.

And a 5v mod may help out too! A box mod with 2 14500's + a charger. Not overly pricey to try it out. Also, a 5 v direct PT with 2.0 amp "wall wort" may work to try 5v.

Good Luck, don't feel bad, and have a happy new year!

Just because you can vape that high of an amount does not mean that you should. It is dangerous darlin'.
I also started smoking in November of 09. We moved, I couldnt find atties, I didnt have any juice that was cutting it, there was no way around it.
WHen I went back to vaping again I did it smartly. I got a juice that I knew I enjoyed and was a regular vape. I got a vitamin B Complex. and I got a bottle of St. John's Wort. I took the vitamins regularly for 9 months. till I feel that I was secure in enough that I didnt need them. Every once in a while Mike will try and get me to smoke. I take a drag, it hurts my lungs, I wash my mouth out, and I give it back to him.

You have to stay strong dude....

Maybe they changed the formulary because they know that they are losing to E-Cigs. Maybe they added something extra to make them more addictive?

My best solution was to not necessarily quit analogs when I started vaping...in fact, I had a pack of analogs in my car when I started my vape adventure. There wasn't that "stress" associated with the absolute deadline of giving up smoking. So that made a HUGE difference for me personally. In fact, once I started vaping, and trying all the flavors and mg levels, I never ended up going back to the analogs, even though they were always there waiting for me. Maybe something like this could work for you? Just smoke when you feel like it, and let vaping slowly work it's way into your lifestyle. I wish you the best of luck!

+1 on the vitamins, and I highly recommend cod liver oil. Yeal, yeal, I know. lol. Just think of it as liquid sunshine, hold you nose and take it, maybe even twice a day. As a person that has to take a little thyroid pill everyday, I can tell anyone for a fact just how integral our 'chemical soup' is to our thinking processes. Cod liver oil is cheap and it's good fer ya! Best wishes to you. JD. :vapor:

Op - you say you were prescribed xanax?

This has a calming effect. I know, I've had it.

I have noticed that vaping for me totally works and I don't need to smoke as I get a great flavor, a headrush and a satisfying cloud of vapor to inhale and exhale - except when drunk. It just doesn;t satisfy when drunk so I have 1 - 3 analogues when drunk.

I noticed that this is because vaping whilst for me has toally replaced cigs when sober - stimulates me. Which is cool.

BUT

Cigarettes have a calming effect.

This is why when drunk I need that carbon monoxide effect that makes one dizzy.

So yeah, vaping might not work for you if you were using cigs to calm you down. Anxiety + stimulant = bad news.

Now whilst the nicotine in cigarettes is a stimulant any smoker will tell you that cigarettes relax them which is due to the other chemicals and the lower amount of oxygen in the blood.

So you need to find another way to deal with your anxiety (I would reccomend hatha yoga or relaxation videos / cd's) and then vape with your pv to provide you the psycological satisfaction of (as mentioned above) a nice tasting cloud to inhale and exhale; hand to mouth and oral fixation etc that many of us - and very much so for me - that substitutes smoking.

I've had a few budwiesers so I hope that was clear enough...

So, I'm about mid point in the day vapping away....Yet, I SO WANT TO RIDE MY BIKE TO The STORE FOR A PACK!!!!

@!#%T@#!%@!#%!#%!#$!

My job I got is great.... I mean I got a X-Mass bonus, end of the Year Bonus, and just got a raise this week too.

I have plenty of 6v mods, and LR Atties.....

I get annoyed my dripping anymore more or less.....It's part of the problem I think. Plus now the fact I'm hooked again on smoking on top of vapping. It's like people who dip, and smoke......

I'm waiting for TW to release the new Tank System for the ego. I'm going to order that with some new pre-made flavors. Melon, and Kiwi..... I think it will really help me.

Scottyballs ZFM Mod worked great for me as an alternate to dripping, I still drip when I'm sitting at my desk working, but soon as I get up I change to my ZFM mod to use on the go.

He sells them to online if your worried bout not making it correctly, I was so I ordered a pack and that sold me on doing it. Took me abit to find silicon I felt comfortable with. Ended up using baking pan liners, lots of flat space and you know its heat resistant and consumable safe.

Even still though I ended up ordering an Ali'i yestarday just due to hassel factor of the eGo/Riva line. Don't get me wrong I love my eGo will still use it, but i have a feeling it's going to become my secondary flavor stick, and backup.

(I'm posting just on behalf of the OP, I haven't read the rest of the thread, sorry I'm tired :p )

A lot of success from vaping is not actually thinking about it in general. I noticed the more I craved a analog, the more I'd vape. But I'll chain-vape even when I'm just sitting and doing nothing. The best thing, for me, that might work for you is to think about other stuff. Keep yourself busy. They way I look at my PV is "at least I have *something* to smoke, rather than nothing" and that makes vaping MUCH easier for me.

It's also got to do with determination. Just push yourself to vape, rather than smoke an analog. Marlboro and other analog companies purposely make "new blends" of chemical cr@p just to get people hooked. They don't care how it tastes, and what cigarettes will do, they just want money.

Stay at 36mg nicotine, anything higher sounds scary and unhealthy. Vape as much as needed, but do your BEST not to smoke an analog. But, don't overload yourself with stress- that can be harmful to your overall health. If you feel like you're literally about to explode, smoke an analog.

I know you can do it! :) With determination and very, very tasty vapor, and vapor with *LOTS* of throat hit, I think this will pass over :)
