I'll also vouch for the durability of the ProVari. My wife and I each have one (2+ years) and live in a home with ceramic tile everywhere. They have been dropped more times than I can remember and have survived to "fight" another day. They are built to last -- no question about it.
I also do not understand all the angst toward the ProVari's. I can't imagine it's over the cost since you can find devices that cost much more than the ProVari. I have other VV / VW PV's I use as well that cost much less, but none have the durability of the ProVari. A few of those were dropped on the floor and now are dead or severely impaired.
You will not be disappointed with any of the ProVari devices.

Releaser of the KRAKEN
... both of my Provari's have taken a beating on a daily basis only had one problem when one droped from 138 feet in the air sent it in to provape and it got fixed you will hear alot of provari hate on ECF

138 feet?! Wow. True, a lot of the hate comes from other provari owners lol. Too funny.

It didn't survive a 138' fall? They must be junk then!
Some parts of this forum are really strange (go figure). I don't dare mention the word Provari in some threads. I like my PV, have never said a poor word about any other mod's, but I must be a fan boy for liking what I have & automatically 'looking down on others' - which I suppose you could do from 138' up, but I prefer to stay a little closer to the ground, in both senses.

lol, fanboy is a term often used by other fanboys, who don't realize that ....they are in fact fanboys themselves!
Yes, many parts of this forum are very strange, and even a little disturbing. It's pretty funny how some get so emotionally involved. It's the interwebs, and the door is wide open. Sit back and watch the show lol.

So I'm gonna go with this tank https://www.cigtechs.com/mobile/product.asp?itemid=402

And I'm probably going to add a pro tank too as I like the look. From what I'm understanding though the tank in the link is about as tough as I'm gonna get. Any last minute new ideas? I'm almost there on the wife convincing.

Which starter kit are you speaking of?

It's the started kit from ProVape. If you are on the products page for the ProVari (it doesn't matter if it's the full size or the mini), scroll down. The kit is listed just above the pictures of the colors:

ProVari Mini Variable Voltage Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit V2

It'n not the best charger on the planet, but it's adequate. The advantage is that you will get everything you need at once and the shipping is free.

Tank

Going to add the bottom cap and coil option tab to this one.
Somewhat torn on which tank to go with here. Previously mentioned or:

Thoughts on which one would look better?

Mod

ProVari Mini Variable Voltage Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit V2

So this where I'm at now. Anything else that I need to get to start vaping?

Do I need these? https://www.cigtechs.com/mobile/home.asp#page-122
Are they the things I'm gonna need to change out weekly?

The last thing I'm wondering is if the black finish is worth the extra 20 on the provari or should I just get a wrap for it? Ruggedness wise? Gonna place the orders once I get some feedback from the group here. So if you see anything that I'm missing please weigh in because I'm going to be crushed of I get all the packages in and can't start using immediately.

I just got the black with blue led (the 'Bruised' edition :D) Worth the $35 extra for me. But then in less than a week I ordered a Stealth Mini for a backup which is significantly more than the regular models. YMMV. You're already spending that much, why worry about $20 (or an extra $15 for the led). I'd rather get the one I really wanted in the first place instead of having it for a few days & wishing I just sprung the extra scratch (which I do all the time when I cheap out on shipping instead of getting stuff a few days earlier for a few extra bucks).

That stealth is $100 more. From what I'm hearing the mini is already rugged and I'm tugging at myself already for spending this much. But it's going to be the end all right? So you definitely talked me into the blue led. My only concern is that if I pay the extra 20 for black or would a wrap be smarter and just change those out when they get wrecked?

<jedi>Wrecked the paint shall not. Treat it well you shall.</jedi>

I wasn't suggesting the Stealth for you, but it was the one I really was lusting after so I said what the hell. But if you're getting that starter kit for a bit over $200, an extra tank (IIRC), & probably some juice to christen it with, you're sitting in the neighborhood of $300. What's an extra $20 if you like the black one better than the silver at that point? Worst case scenario, you get the silver, decide you really, really want the black & that'll cost you an extra $150.

I was reading the reviews on the starter kit and someone said "make this a variable wattage and it will be the best ever"
The provari 2.5 is a vw right? The one in the starter kit link?

No, Provari's are VV only, some folks think VW is a big deal, Provari owners know better.

I haven't seen anyone mention it yet, the mini without the extension cap uses an 18350 battery, I don't get much battery life out of 350's.
IMO, the red led is easier to see in direct sunlight.

Exactly. Those are the same folks whose eyes glaze over trying to figure out Ohm's Law.

I sprung the little extra for the full size for my regular one & got the extension cap for my Stealth Mini. I'm thinking about getting another cap for the full size one for the bigger battery. Nice thing is these 490's charge really quickly.

There is no difference in ruggedness between the Provari models.
End all be all, maybe maybe not, the Provari will get the best vape possible out of a delivery device, but, it won't make a sub par/ crappy one into something better.
Wraps are easily replaced, I'd buy whatever color you like, I consider the faint scratches & scars on mine character marks, they all have a story behind them.
