My wife and I were watching football earlier and someone walked past our house smoking and I could smell it!! Our house is 50 feet from the road and I was disgusted by the smell. I think I'm gonna be repulsed by the smell if I get too close to it. I was telling a friend who smokes 2+pad how disgusting I found the smell to be and he told me "don't be one of those people who quit and find it disgusting all the sudden!" I never realized it was so awful!

In my opinion, finding it disgusting isn't a bad thing. Loudly sharing that opinion and being a jerk about it is being "one of those people".

I'll gladly share info about my PV and vaping in general with those who smoke. Happy I quit, but I remember how people treated me at times and won't be that guy.

Yeah it wasn't too long ago we all smelled like that. It's good to lead with a good example not a negative one.

I was thinking about this exact thing the other day. I remember when I smoked, and would be around x smokers they would act simply repulsed by the smell. It's almost as if they were a vampire being cast into the sunlight or something. They would recoil with more horror than a complete non smoker, to the point of being obnoxious. I would find myself getting frustrated with them for it.

Whenever I am in an area where people are smoking, yeah I find it a tad offensive now, but not to the point of being fanatical. I guess it affects everyone differently but don't be, as your friend said.

Let me clarify, I was on the phone with a buddy. I wouldn't insult him or anyone. Don't jump the shark with reactions. With any luck, he'll be meeting me this week at eCig Cafe here in Kenosha for a spinner and his own setup

No worries, I meant you weren't "that guy" just yet.

Good luck with helping your buddy out. Helping someone else make the move is a wonderful thing.

I walked past an ashcan by the entrance to a business the other day and was amazed how far away I could smell it. I always knew those smelled bad but how strong the smell is was a shock.

Instead of being critical of the smell, be cheerful & positive and say how much better it is to not smell like a walking asstray full of nasty, stinky butts.

Tell me that wasn't just a typo. LMAO

Oh, and WHO DEY

My wife never smoked. I now now what she must have felt when I came to bed after having a smoke. There were times she would leave and sleep in the other bedroom because I smelled so bad.

I was vaping on my porch and my daughter walked out for a soda. She was caught in one of my mini clouds and said 'wow! That is strong.' Vaping still gives off smells that some may not like. It was a homemade tobacco vanilla caramel blend. She smelled the vanilla.

We all smelled like that at one point.

My girlfriend is a non-smoker and she always put up with my smoking (God love her). Such a long-suffering, sweet lady. However, she did say that she enjoyed the smell of tobacco on my moustache. Not the smell of burning smoke, but the smell of tobacco.

Both of us concur that the initial ignition of a cigarette smells good. Especially if a Zippo or match is involved.

I still like the smell when someones smoking but am over actually wanting to smoke. I hang out with smokers and let them smoke in my truck and it doesn't bother me.

Same here ^^^. I loved the smell of cigarettes when I smoked and I doubt that's going to change anytime soon. I might actually appreciate the smell even more now. Maybe because it's not a health issue for me anymore and I can enjoy it with no repercussions.

I am one of the people who love the smell of someone smoking,BUT the smoker stinks:smokie: The lady that cuts my hair came in and smelled like a rank ashtray. She is trying to vape, but going through that transitional phase. A guy got into the hot pool at the gym and same thing,he stunk. He was probably my age and was coughing up a lung. I wanted to talk to him about vaping, but did not want to come across as one of those EX smokers I'm better than you types. I never knew that I smelled that way and I'm very clean. Before I quit the smell of my Cigs burning would sometimes bother me.

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
I only love the smell of pipe smoke and some cigars.

I never really minded the smell of cigarette smoke but then I was a smoker. I haven't actually noticed the smell lately as I haven't been around any smokers since I quit.

I DO know that the smell of generic cigarettes and cheap vanilla perfume put me off ALL vanilla scents to this day.

I am not sure why but it seems that cigarette smoke smells stronger and worse to ex-smokers than it does to those that never smoked at all. I personally didn't start smoking until I was 24. Prior to that I had friends that smoked, and even dated some girls that smoked. It smelled bad but not completely obnoxiously bad, like it does now that I am a former smoker. Talking to others that have quit I have heard similar stories. Maybe it is just because we are more "in tune" with the smell and our nose is warning us to stay away. Kind of like if you ever "over did it" with a particular type of alcohol you can find yourself nauseated by just the smell of that particular alcoholic beverage for a long long time.
