So I got it working tonight at work, sanded down the positive post so the contact would rest flush on it. Then I drilled down the negitive screw post so the screw could bite down further into the threads. Wraped a 30g 1.2ohm coil stainless on silica, and BOOM, this thing vaps like a champ. Will drill out the sleave holes a bit more for better air flow.

funny story, when I first recieved my immortalizer from a dude in the classies I didn't know that the outer sleeve had reverse threads and it was on there pretty tight. I was anxious to open it so I tried and tried but it wouldn't budge so I wrapped a piece of tape around it and gently used a pair of pliers to grip it, only then did I realize it was LH threaded but in doing so I made a little mark in the base and what did I see at this mark? brass... ...??? so I then scratched away a little more and saw chrome plating coming off and brass underneath. at that point I was convinced that I had been sold a clone because I know the original immortalizer should be stainless steel construction so I pm'd the seller and told him I was ...... off that he sold me a clone.

the seller was a really good seller here and he seemed genuinely concerned but he assured me that this atty came right from the source and one of the earlier ones, before clones even existed of this atty and he doesn't think it's a clone... at that point I was pretty baffled but I decided since I now marked it all up I will just remove all the chrome on the outside to make a brass looking immortalizer so I chucked it up in my lathe and started shaving only to discover that underneath the chrome plating and the brass plating was actually stainless steel! I've never really seen a stainless steel mod part to be chrome plated so this really surprised me and I def learned something from that experience :)

can anyone tell if the clone is a raw stainless finish or is it chrome plated? if I saw chrome plated from china in a cheap clone I would never think that it's really stainless steel under there but the real immortalizer is actually chrome plated ss... and on top of that the aluminum center part is actually coated with a paint type finish too... so now my immortalizer in not chrome plated and painted, it's raw stainless and aluminum except for inside the groves all around which still have chrome and paint in the groves because I didn't cut into the grooves yet... very weird for high end materials like this to be plated and painted :)

heres a pic of the marks I made making me think it must be a clone

here's a picture as I was cutting the finish off. the face is already cut, you can see the raw stainless and raw aluminum now and I just started first pass on the top of the cap

That's weird man. I've got a real immo and the finish is raw stainless steel as far as I know. The finish isn't shiny or chrome looking at all. I haven't started scraping it to see what's under of anything, but it definitely looks like raw SS.

The aluminum sleeve is obviously aluminum, but I believe is has a clear coat anadized over it to keep from aluminum leaching into your juice. I can see the clear coat in the light if I move it around a bit.

Here's what mine looks like. Doesn't seem to be as shiny as your from the pictures. The brass you see on the side is an custom after market brass sleeve.

That's right, they did update some things. Forgot about that. Mine was from the second or "updated batch". Can't remember what all they changed. I know the post screws where one thing they changed to make it easier to use with a regular small screw driver.

I have a clone not sure where it came from but its my favorite!!! This is my first dripper and the flavor is so good and clouds of vapor! My friend has a real one and he looked mine over and liked it for the money. His real Immortalizer has a black sleeve on it is the only difference. I just would like to find a black sleeve for mine anybody know where to get one?

Local Vape had some sleeves and parts for the immo. Give that a shot.

Really like my immortalizer HCigar clone. Air holes in the aluminum sleeve needed drilling out to 1/16 inch. They were even smaller than the authentic immortalizer.

I like the draw now and flavor is great. Still experimenting with different coil/wick configurations. Right now have a 5 wrap 0.8 x 1 ribbon coil that I wound on a 5/64 drill bit and stuffed with some cotton. I think next time I will take it down to 4 wraps. I could use a slightly warmer vape.

All in all this has been my easiest rebuildable and most successful topper so far.

Not much to look at but an impressive device!

I had to put some bandages on my immortalizer as (again) I trued to open an new hole in the sleeve, I don't know why but this alu sleeve has given me more troubles to drill than any other rda that I own. I recently got a second one and I'm a bit afraid to do the same, has anyone tried to make some slots on the top as oposed to the holes?, check out the second picture to understand more

now this is my idea, pleas tell me why is this great or why is it stupid

That cut might help with the air flow a little bit. Keep in mind the immortalizer wasn't made for mass clouds and air flow.... it was made for flavor. The air for the most part will only flow was fast and as much as the smallest point. The aluminum sleeve on it keeps a small chamber internaly for air to flow. That why cutting massive holes in the sleeve doesnt really give you all that much air flow.

Some people make aftermarket sleeves that have thinner walls which create a larger air chamber inside for air to flow. Also, some people will cut a slit in the ceramic base of the immo where the two air holes are with a dremil wheel. This turns the two small air holes in the ceramic into one large one... that in conjunction with new sleeve holes or even an aftermarket sleeve will give more air flow. I think they were calling the ceramic slit cut the "cyclopse" modification or something like that. Watch out thow because you can break the ceramic easy.

I think the real limiting factor to airflow is the 3 air passages from the outer chamber to the inner deck.

those slots look like they should work as well as drilling larger holes higher up. I considered slotting mine like that to have the holes as high as possible for squonking without leaking but decided to just go up to the top groove and that proved to be high enough

The air flow areas are small all around the immo compaired to most simple designed RDA's we see. The sleeve holes, the ceramic holes, the 3 deck holes, the space of the chamber inside the sleeve and the top cap/deck. It all adds up to the slower air flow, which is why making just one of those areas bigger isnt gonna make it a monster cloud machine all the sudden.

I got an after market sleeve that has larger air holes and thinner sleeve walls and that opened it up a lot more than just drilling big ... holes in the stock sleeve did.

Ive got a real immo so im not about to start drilling the hell out of every hole in the thing and grinding slots in my ceramic. With the proper build and the new sleeve the thing rocks just fine for me.

the three holes on the base and the two on the cup should be plenty for me. the space in between the sleeve and the wall I think have much more area than the holes on the base and cup. so I think I'll be fine with the slot, just want to know if it would be a better solution than to drill the sleeve

If its a clone, go for it... what'ya got to loose. If its a legit $100 atty, i'd think twice about it. Thats just me because $100 is a lot of money to gamble with.
