The Stumpy is way to much like my derringer...
They look a bit similar, but that's where the similarity ends haha. Before getting my stumpy,my derringer was my adv rda on my bottom feeder, and i was happy with it.The day i got my stumpy,i was blown away by how much more flavor i was getting from it with the exact same build,so after that first day,i ordered a 2nd stumpy, and have never again even looked at my derringer.

suprtrkr how is the oval coils working. I just rewicked mine after two weeks. the color of the cotton was colored by the juice but not burnt, curiosity got the best of me.
They're actually more rectangular, and they are vaping like a beast. They hit the mod at .42-- it's on the Koopor Plus, and that one is usually about .25Ω high-- and I have had to turn the power down to 37.5 watts to keep from choking myself. Mine are a skosh smaller than yours as I wanted to make my tool so it would fit inside the air tower hole for best positioning. I tried that, and discovered it positioned the coil a bit too close to the barrel for my liking, so instead I put the coil a tiny bit closer to the posts-- maybe .5mm-- and tightened down the screws, then put the tool through the coil and into the tower, and levered it back outward. That worked like a champ.

The airflow seems a bit better than the old horizontal coil style. That increased air may be why I have to turn the power down a tad. I have thought about cranking the power back up into the 40-45 watt range and closing the AFC ring a bit, but it seems like heresy to choke off the fabulous air flow in an MT. :)

The one thing I have had trouble with is feeding the inner wick between the center post and the coil. I made it by flattening out the rayon after wetting it a bit, then clipping a point on it. I could stick the point between the post and the coil, beneath the upper coil leg. Then grab the point with the tweezers and pull it through. I am thinking a carpet needle will get the job done. I have one, a really big eye needle, for sewing up deep water fishing baits, to set internal hooks. (The IGFA permits 2 hooks per leader). Next time I wick I'll give that a try.

One other thing I'll mention, if anybody else wants to try, is the way the coil has to be arranged the legs have to come off the two narrow sides, not the long ones. I had some trouble getting the coil to stay that way coming off the mandrel. It wants to "uncoil" itself a bit, so it looks like a spiral staircase instead of a hollow rectangle. So I took and extra half bend on each of the legs, making them lay flush on the long sides instead of coming straight off the short ones. Then I pinched the coil between thumb and forefinger to hold it in place before pulling the tool out. Once I did, I grabbed the coil from between my fingers with the ceramic tweezers. Applying pressure on the tweezers, I could hold it in the right configuration long enough to torch it and get it to stay where I put it. Then I unbent the extra half wrap I put on the legs and they were pointed the right way.

I've never tried either one. I guess I have to now :)

I was running through a mass battery changing orgy for all the on-duty mods and I broke out the 350 tube for the Fakir's on a wild hair. I simply can not pass up the temptation of allowing my fellow MTers to bask in the incredible diminutive cuteness of the silly thing:

So I see we are back to talking about the mt's in the MT thread now... Bummer. Im actually not even sure where my MT is right now. I think my buddy might have borrowed it at some point... Ive been absolutely stuck on my VCMT now that I got my wicking down on it. Hitting it all day at 85W with a 3mm tripple strand 28G twisted build.

I tried to build my mutank last night for the noisy cricket, but used SS316, and failed miserably, build came out to .30ohm, which is a bit low for a series box. Not a complete loss, it is vaping nicely on a DNA200.
I like to sh_t myself when I read .3 on the Cricket. Thank God you're smarter than that. I had a young buck over in the n00b corral a week or three back thought he was doing just fine with .12 on that thing. I was praying so hard I could get a post up before he pushed the fire button again my rosary jammed ;-) 84 amps, God save us!

Does anyone else notice a difference in taste when you use different drip tips? I had a stubby 2puffs Aluminum/Stainless on my MT because I was two handing with my Griff that had my longer wide bore delrin yesterday! The flavor on the Griff was outstanding as usual, but the MT was just meh! This morning I decided to run the MT as my ADV for awhile cuz it has fresher wicks and put the delrin tip on it. What a difference that made! The flavor went from meh to WOW! I'm thinking because of the wider bore & the length! What do you guys think?:headbang:

DT can definitely effect the vape, the stock DT on the MT is kind of terrible, hate the sharp edges, and the short height, so I never use it, but throw a kayfun 4 DT on the MT, and the flavor is definitely more pronounced to me. YMMV.

Really like the noisy cricket, but its definitely not for everyone, you have to know what you're doing somewhat to use it safely. I wanted to build my MT for it, but the 510 pin isn't quite long enough for me to be comfortable using it with the hybrid 510 connection, which is why I tried the Mutank, because it protrudes out slightly further and was just enough for me to feel OK about (even though my build ended up not being OK).

Only thing I don't like about my Noisy Cricket is that I got it in "Stainless Steel" color option, which isn't Stainless Steel at all in real life, as its an aluminum alloy mod (which I didn't know until after I got it), so its really more like brushed aluminum color, so it doesn't match any of my RTAs, or RDAs color wise. I know, probably being a bit nit picky, but if you put the color as Stainless Steel, then I feel it should be constructed from stainless steel so it actually looks like stainless, and not bright ... aluminum. Basically me just regretting not getting the black one. I did also see since I bought mine two weeks ago they have come out with more colorways for the noisy cricket. I may have to try plasti dipping mine because this light aluminum color goes well with absolutely nothing.

I've been using a Crown tank tip on my MT. That's my go-to cloudy tip except on my Aromamizer.
For some reason an old Bull Box Mods (SS core) trustone bully tip works better on that.
