Hi David,

Thank you for the ELA strata that I have received today.. I have an issue with my one, has the treading changed as I cannot screw my ELA strata onto my ELA, all this wait and this ;(

Hi Chris, thetolerances can be a bit tight on them and ive been trying them on tubes here with the same result, but have been able to put a dab of Noalox on the threads and work them back and forth on, have you tried this yet?

I'll try it when I get home.. It fits half way.. Didn't want to force it and get the strata stuck in the tube.. Will let you know when I get home tonight..

Chris, mine was the same. There were a few burrs on my threads and it only threaded on about half way down. Like David recommended above, just put a dab of Noalox (or similar) on the threads and work through the burrs. Once you get it on, it will thread easily from there on out.

A very easy way to make flat, even "coils": wrap a normal coil, then stretch it out, then press it between two flat surfaces, e.g., use a ruler to press it down on a table. This method also helps with determining what resistance you will end up with if you are used to a certain gauge, coil size and number of wraps. Stretch it out pretty good or it might kink in the corners rather than going perfectly flat and even.

Just wanted to put up a quick pic tutorial of this, as I didn't have time last night. So:

1. Roll a normal coil:

2. Stretch it out:

3. Take something flat (I had this Cruzer drive handy):

4. Press down on the stretched coil, and afterwards it should look like this:

Mine is the same way.My satin strata fits perfect,the polished,not so much.I tried working it on and off a few times(without noalox or other conductive lube) and now its stuck on the tube,half on,won't budge in either direction.I have tried the rubber gloves for more grip,freezeing it then warming the tube with hot water,even wrapping it with a cheap rubber jar opener and pliers and no go.I might have to send the whole works back.I think I got some other stuff to use in the meantime.

No, it's just who here prepares them is different. Kevin does the Stratas and simplicities(which assemble and finish prep 20 times faster then an ELA, literally) , I do the ELA's and Big Will does the machining (I keep the CNC running when he's not here).

thanks for the heads up Azzifel, luckily, we've only sent 30 of them out so far, so i'll double check all the rest before shipping. On yours, don't force it, we can get it out and we'll get you a new tube too to replace that fits. We run our tolerances so tight, sometimes it bites in the .......

Good to hear, did you use any lube on the threads first to screw them on? We're going thru them now and finding some tight ones, but a dab of noalox is allowing us to get them all on.

Just a little update. Envision this..... I am attempting my first ELA Strata build. In my kitchen. Naked. The cats are all over my stuff, saying 'What's up Mom?'. I should vid and post for 'comic relief'.

BTW: I rarely wear clothes at home. Much to my Mother's horror, I was born a nudist at heart

Since I don't go out much, I tend to do most things naked.
