Not much. Diameter is much more important than pitch, even given the same length of wire (same resistance). More wraps with a smaller diameter yields better results than fewer wraps with a larger diameter.
Unfortunately most people new to microcoils focus on micro-pitch and ignore micro-diameter.
I doubt the Strata will cause the simplicity to fire when stood on end. My 18650, with kicklet and KFL doesn't fire, nor does it with an AGI, or any of my toppers. (Mine is newer, so it probably has the heavy spring. I guess this also could be defendant on how many washers you have installed as well.

I don't even particularly try to wrap tightly together anymore and never squeeze the coil afterwards. I don't try to spread the wraps out either, they just end up wherever they end up. I wrap around a 1.6mm hex key.

Thank you for the affirmation, that has been my experience too. I think many people would disagree to some extent though, it seems counterintuitive.
I've found though that at a certain point of minimal diameter wicking suffers just because of the small wick having trouble allowing the juice to traverse the length. I've found that real fat (3.5mm+) squat coils also deliver an unsatisfying vape, but I'm not sure why.
This is good. I have a plan.

Everybody, speak to me about hot legs. Besides Rojo's example, what can cause them? What are remedies?
Bonus points for music videos with blonde 80's chicks in them.
From what I understand, hot legs are usually caused by one leg being longer than the other.
Microcoils don't seem to suffer from hot legs - ever. I've seen pictures of some dramatic differences in leg lengths on microcoils but the coil still heats perfectly. The prevailing theory seems to be that the narrow pitch / touching is to thank for that. I can't confirm or contradict that - I've never gotten a hot leg even without touching coils, but the legs are generally the same length (I don't obsess over it, it just works out that way).

So what are my Chances of ordering the ELA strata next friday, broke right now and my ELA needs a nice top.
This is my favourite coil, been using this actual one for 3 to 4 months now.
A fire up every few days to burn off any old juice and fresh cotton and its as good as new.
I check the ohm's once a week and it has never moved from 0.57 / 0.58 ohm's
Dual coil - 28g kanthal - (2x8 wrap) - 1/16th bore.
Not sure how it would be in the strata but worth a try I guess.
