I'll take a thin, even line over a gaping hole in the side of the top cap that juice can leak out of.
Or to put it crudely:
This ain't yo momma's gap.

When I get home today I'm going traditional as heck. Nach and I will report. The new airflow is quite different than our beta units. Better.Question for testers. If you're using a single, traditional coil, are you finding it necessary to plug any of the air holes?
A tight draw will require a minimal gap.
When you see in person how this is designed you may just say screw the gap, this is great.

snork, quite a gap between top cap and base in your photo, you can screw it down completely right?
Indeed. I had been thinking 26 was a bit too ambitious myself.I just tried a snorkwrap with 26g and I feel it doesn't perform as well as it could. I'll be working on some more ambitious builds soon enough.
Freckle:just had a thought, the vapemate, will that interfere with any of the functions? Will this Atty still preform as without? I ask cause the mention of the tip saying the tip provided will work best.
one of you beta testers, who own a vapemate will you check that for me when you receive your test units back? pretty please!!![]()
Does the longer drip tip perform better? I prefer the look of the shorter one, but if it performs better, so be it. Maybe Dave can offer the shorter one in the future. Of course with the added heat Path just mentioned, maybe the shorter tip would get too hot.
I was pretty happy with the single coil that I built last night. To answer someone's previous question, I did get better performance on the single coil when I blocked two of the air intake holes. Keep in mind, the adjustable airflow works by rotating the top cap. As you rotate the cap, the actual hole(s) that dump air in front of the coil will change. You'll understand what I mean when you guys see it in person.
In order to get max usage of all the air holes, I just built a dual coil (28g, 8 wraps on 3/32" nail, approx. 0.65 ohms). While the single coil is easier to make and sufficient in performance, a dual coil setup definitely makes optimum usage of the airflow design. I suppose that the SnorkWrap would as well, but I haven't gotten around to building one on this production version yet.
One thing that I will mention is that the Strata definitely runs hotter than my other RDAs. I have a 0.45 ohm dual coil on my Origen, and this 0.65 dual coil is significantly hotter. Obviously, the hybrid design of this RDA will make it more efficient, and the rhodium over gold plated contact point will also make a difference.
For the sake of being brutally honest, cloud chasers might be a bit underwhelmed, but flavor chasers (like me) will be thoroughly satisfied. I would categorize the vapor production as moderate...satisfactory for my style of vaping. The reduced chamber and unique airflow design combines to create some great flavor!!!
Aesthetically, well....isn't that obvious?!?!?
The longer tip may have come from a request by me. I have big lips and I use 'em. When I switch back and forth between short and long I feel no difference in performance or feel.I am using the shorter tip from the original beta version because I prefer the look of shorter drip tips. I have never had a problem with any SS tip getting hot when I vape, and the same goes for this. The top cap definitely gets hot, especially with my current dual coil, but the tip is not hot at all. I will throw on the longer tip to see if that affects anything.
Freckle:
The use of the VapeMate is not possible on the Strata. The position of the center post of the Strata projects too far upward to allow it to fit in. Related: If one wishes to use a different drip tip than the one which comes standard, you must make sure (if it's metal) that the bottom of it will not make contact with the center post, either by not reaching it or fitting completely around the post and not touching.
Hey all.....long long time no see...
So I find myself just now getting into the idea of an RDA for my precise+ (that's now something like 2, 2 1/2 years old at this point...
So my question is is the precise + strata still in preorder stage or are any of them shipping yet....
How many of the precise+ models are left of that initial 200?....
Just curious because tying up $150 for 3-4 weeks isn't so bad....as long as it doesn't become the multi month wait that the super6 was or the precise+ was...
*suppose technically I should send in the p+ 181650 for a refinish and slightly dinged up button and bottom cap/horns...but It's the only device I use and I use it everyday all day out in the field, shop, and home...
