i still have not checked the batts yet, i did a very thorough cleaning of the mods battery contacts and even the contact area on the batteries & the 510 with Nevr-Dull & ISO and the 510 and the threads & pin on my atty, i'm going to wait until half charge to check.....i did notice quite a bit of funk that came off.
will report back with results.

yep i just scruffed the weak side a tad then cleaned both sides w/ISO and put in a fresh pair of Sammy's both exactly @ 4.20...
i'll post back later with results.

i have some very thin Copper Tape w/conductive adhesive, i wonder if i ought to try some if the problem persists.........or some solder wadda ya think?

I would recommend using an excellent electrical/electronic cleaning product called: DeOxit. It's an very good cleaner and corrosion remover plus it leave a microscopic film to prevent further oxidation from occurring. I use it on all my MODS contacts and the 510 connection. I just spray a little bit on a cotton swab, rub it on the areas I want to treat and wait about 4-5 minutes then repeat and then wipe clean with a clean dry swab.

Ebay has the concentrated version... a little dab is all you need. Deoxit® D Series D100L Squeeze Tube 100 Solution 2 Ml | eBay

Guitar Center: CAIG DeOxIT D100 Power Booster Metal Electric Connection Cleaner, Enhancer, and Lubricant | GuitarCenter

The nice thing about this cleaner deoxidizer is that you're able to use for a multitude of items such as cell phone battery contacts, USB cable connections, computer motherboard connections, automotive connections such as bulbs, harness plugs, etc.

@sando7 I am quite used to seeing my batteries drain slightly differently, with one usually showing 0.1 lower than the other when I put them on the charger. (Though when I took a used pair out this morning, both showed 3.1 - but my charger only shows one decimal place, not two like yours, so I can never be quite sure how close or far apart they are.)

That happens both in my series IPV4, and in my parallel VF clone.

I was told it was pretty normal? So yes I now do the rotating thing you mentioned, in an attempt to balance out the drain over time.

in series it's a bit different a couple of points are acceptable, but 10 is not....have 2 other dual series boxes that drain perfectly and so do my Parallel boxes......i'm hoping that it was user error on my part by not thoroughly cleaning, i will know later today, but yes rotating batteries in series in the sled is definitely a good thing......i did get quite a bit of gunk off when i went over it....and i'm gonna get some of the stuff Nibiru suggested, there is a guitar shop pretty close to me that carries it i checked the area code so that's a plus....i appreciate everyone's advice, thanks!

Just wanted to thank everyone for the tips regarding how to remove the mirrored finish on the ipv4 w/out having to use a SOS pad or any other "aggressive" means. Used 91% alcohol and scrubbed on it. Lil tiny bits here and there i'll eventually get, but the screen looks much better and easier to read now.

well i just checked my batts again, now i have 3.70 under the 510 & 3.64 on the other side, guess i'll have to live w/it and just not take my batts under the half reading.....i'm gonna clean it again & try some fresh charged VTC4's now and check again, took me since last nite and all day today to get to the half mark on the reading so i'm getting pretty good mileage....have to wait a week or so before i can get some of the deoxit.......at least it's a bit better.

gonna get the SXM i guess, also like the Hanna V4 (skinni) single batt, decisions; decisions!

I wouldn't really jump to conclusion if I were you. Give it some time and wait and see what happens once you get the terminals cleaned up. A 6/100ths of a volt isn't really that big of a deal. Have you tried swapping battery positions? I label my batteries in sets such as one set labeled as A1-A2, the other set B1-B2, and so on. Are you using a Volt/Ohm meter to measure the batteries or a charger with voltage readout?

Are you using a matched set of batteries? That is they were bought together and used together exclusively. Never used as single units in other MODS.

What brand of charger do you use? That can make a difference. Personally I like Xtar brand, but other members like the Nitecore.

Have your tried the LG HE4 batteries? Basically the same as the much vaunted Sony batteries so far as capacity etc is concerned.

For me personally the negative to becoming a vaper is the fact that a lot of us suffer from that dreaded disease: Perfectionitis Upgraditis.

From the URBAN DICTIONARY:
  • Upgraditis: A terminal condition, the main symptom of which presents as the insatiable desire to upgrade. A word originally coined by Isaac Sibson, and now increasingly prevalent in internet based discussions.
  • Perfectionitis: a condition that causes one to sporatically fix things until they are perfect or to repeat actions until perfection is reached. An undiagnosed form of acute OCD.

Also known for vapers as the "elusive search for the perfect or ultimate vape".

I also suffered through it's version with computer upgrades in the early 2000's when the technology was in a constant state of flux.

I had some issues with my Kangxin VF3 DNA40 replica/clone MOD when I first got it. My battery's variances are roughly 0.01-0.02 volts between the batteries at most. Usually they're exactly the same.

apparently you have not read my posts, no offense intended, yes all batts brand new pairs & married/labeled (3 sets) Sammy's & VTC4's....x-tar-vc2 charger & DMM.....don't care for he4's...i'm not worried now just concerned all is ok, thank you!

You're correct... I did not read all your posts. I thought about that whilst writing my reply, C'est La Vie! :smokie:

Since we're talking about batteries, I will say I am very pleased with the battery life I'm getting from the IPV4 in TC mode.

I've been doing a massive re-organisation of my office and all my vaping stuff, which had got a bit out of control. So for the last 24 hours I've been using the same tank and the same build on the IPV4, rather than having lots on the go as I usually do. This allowed me to do a test of battery life.
  • Yesterday at 10:00 I put in a fully charged, two-week-old pair of Samsung 25Rs
  • I vaped exclusively on the IPV4 and my Lemo 2
    • 0.15 single coil build, 405°F, 40J
  • I got Weak Battery today at 18:00.
  • So that's 32 real hours
    • Which I would estimate to be 22 vaping hours.
I chain vape heavily, 10-15ml a day, so anything more than 24 hours from a dual battery mod is very good going for me. With my VF clone I have been getting as little as 15 vaping hours - though that's not directly comparable as they would not have been exclusively TC vapes.

Anyway, I'm definitely pleased with the battery life with constant TC usage. And if there's any reduction in battery life from series versus parallel, I can't see it (but quite possibly there isn't when I'm vaping at <4.2V ?)

Is your .15 ohm build reading .15 when you do a set resistance with the coil cooled on your iPV4...I am trying to find an answer to this in another thread...my iPV4 seems to read resistance about .05 ohm lower than the actual value on an ohm meter or dna 40 mod when doing a set resistance with a room temp coil...

Well, I would expect no less from them at this point. Are you sure it didn't say June 22nd? Hopefully I will get mine before going on vacation, the middle of July.[emoji35]
