Pros:
Much cheaper, 3-10cents per ml
Adjust flavor the way you want
Make custom nic levels
You can tinker with what you don't like

Cons:
Can be dangerous, especially If dealing with higher than 36mg base.
As with anything, can be expensive to get started.
Can be frustrating, it's a lot of trial and error.
Have to wait for steeping more so you need to plan ahead

Definitely something every vaper should try. It is fun to come up with new mixes, try new things. Most of my juice is now DIY, but I still buy some favorites that I can't quite get right DIY. To make DIY easy, mix your base to your level of nic and just add drops to a 5 ml amount. That way you are not working with higher nic levels to mix each flavor, safer and easier :) bnrk

If you like to tinker its worth it... Its definitely cheaper and more funner, lol. Do a little shopping around (and thats part of the fun of this hobby too right?) And it startup isn't even that expensive, I'm under $50 in and have at least 6 months worth of everything and already have 20+ different flavors, doesn't take long to be cheaper than 'store bought'.

Head over to DIY section and look at it... I just did DIY #3 -- made for 50$ what I would have paid $240 at Johnson Creek.

Capella is best noob - proof flavors to start. Wizard Labs will sell you the nic juice cheap at the PG/ratio you want. Try out some single flavors to start... It's as easy as this:

1) a) make base juice by cutting it with PG/VG from a high nic juice (Wizard labs)
b) be lazy-- Wizard labs will sell you base juice 18/24/36 (higher are for mixing) in the PG/VG ratio you ask for for like $2.50/30ml. Open the pre-made juice.

2) Take a simple Capella flavor... Pour it in at 5%, 10%, 15%... taste... steep for a bit if you want... There you just made raspberry by pouring 15% juice into your pre-made base. Bingo!

And then you can do crazy stuff and advanced recipes like the DIY vets. But it can be that simple... I'm vaping some chocolate glazed doughnut now I made yesterday.

DIY e liquid seems daunting at first and you may worry about quantities etc, getting them spot on the fraction of a drop. But after you have found a mix you are happy with, it becomes easy as making a cup of coffee. Its just a learning curve, and once you have learnt the ratio of pg:vg:flavouring that you like, then it is quick and easy.

With regards safety, even the 54mg nicotine base that you can buy, is well diluted with a diluent such as PG or VG. If it gets on the skin, you simply wash it off. Because it is dluted so much in PG, it does not absorb well in the skin anyway, not like pure nicotine.

There are 1000mg in a ml, and each ml of 54mg base, has just 54mg per 1000 of nicotine. So it is pretty well diluted at those levels. Although obvious precautions have to be taken, nowhere near kids, dont drink it, dont bathe in it, dont vape it neat etc. However as long as you are sensible, it is really not as scary as it may at first seem. If you get it on your hands, just wash it off.

The main benefit is that it saves alot of money, plus you are in control of flavour concentration, strength etc.

Yeah I'm a tinkerer by nature :) I am going to do it. The math is a no brainer and safety is simple precautions. Most worried about getting the flavor I like...which at this point is still tobacco with an alternate of peppermint or cinnamon occasionally. I like the juices I vape and don't need to go any higher than 18mg based on my experience so far. Seems like a tremendous savings as well as fun....so long as you don't produce something that tastes like .... :)

I'm confused a tad on why any VG if not allergic to PG but I just need to read up on that. Same with steeping....need to understand that.

Anyhow, thanks for all the info so far guys! Keep it coming!
