Is it just me, or is anyone else lucky?

When I am inside an establishment (coffee shop, restaurant, whatever) I have always made a habit of asking before I vape inside.

And every single time, I have been given the green light. Sometimes I do a real quick explanation and demo, if they aren't sure what it is. But I always get the go-ahead, without any apprehension. I even had a waitress ask me where I got my Kr8.

I have also never had anyone give me dirty looks when they see me vaping. Albeit, when indoors in public, I do tend to take shorter drags and hold them a bit longer, to lessen the vapor production. I don't want to be blowing plumes into people's personal space. But I'm not stealth vaping - you can definitely tell I'm exhaling something.

Has anyone else had really positive reception vaping inside public places?

My ecig hasn't been delivered yet, so I don't know.

But I do believe that being upfront and friendly helps get positive reactions every time. I'm not a fan of the "I'll vape and you'll like it" camp. This is a niche market that is growing, the way to make sure it is accepted is to be nice about it. It really isn't hard to believe many people haven't heard much about them. I just saw my first one yesterday.

You are also young and attractive, that might be helping :)

Find a grizzly, old codger and do an experiment. :)

Auntbeast - Too true. It's similar to the "shirt and shoes" thing. It's not illegal to decide not to wear a shirt, or shoes. But an establishment has every right to deny you admittance if you don't. Similarly, with the proper licensing, the tobacconist I used to go to had every right to have an indoor smoking area. In either case, if you don't like it, don't go there.

Vaping is safe for those around you, but that doesn't necessarily mean that an establishment has to allow it. If I was taking power-puffs the way I do at home, I could see how it would be quite annoying to other patrons near-by. So I ask, and vape politely. And I've never had a problem.

But it seems like most people do have problems. Not sure why.

And yeah, being young and female, you can get away with a lot.

Xanax - Atomic Cinnacide with your burrito? :)

Well believe it or not I have been asked to extinguish or leave several times. The lie that a lot of companies state that they can't ask you to leave is just a ploy to get you to buy. I have started asking before doing and it pans out good most of the time
I use to work as a security officer so I know the laws in my state and most have the same any business can request you leave if you refuse you fall into the 86 code which is the code for never come back on threat of arrest. The PV although not a cigarette can fall into a private property smoking ban. My father wont even allow it in his house though he knows a lot about it. All places of business are private property ask before you do. As for dirty looks I get looks of confusion and wonder.

Might just be the pretty face lol, people have a hard enough time coming to grips with my scottish accent so I daren't start asking about vaping.

I actually tried someone's sneaky suggestion of putting your ecig through a fast food drink cup and making out that it's a straw in Kohls the other day(labor day sales was dragged around by the wife). Only dared toke on it twice though, the first one I released a pretty large cloud of vapor by accident, got one strange look, tried it again and held it longer so there was no vapor cloud but that was about as daring as I wanted to be. Decided to just retire to the car for a while, along with all the other husbands/boyfriends lol we all looked so bored. If I ever run a department store i'm creating a sanctuary for bored men or at the very least putting a chair by the damned changing rooms!

Personally I go with the forgiveness rather than permission. That being said though I tend to stealth vape, take a drag, long or small doesn't matter, double inhale it, hold it blow down.

Generally since I leave the e-cig on the table, eventually someone will ask (usually waitress sometimes managers) "Hey is that one of those smokeless cigs?" or "Is that those e-cigs?" or "What is that?"

Thus like you I give them a brief explanation I tend not to call it an e-cig even if they do, simply because I've used that term and people have immediately shut the ears because they hate smoking, had a loved one die or a few other stories I've been told. So I simply say it's a nic inhaler, because of this my last cig was on July 11th, I love this thing. Best part because its water vapor its completely safe no second hand smoke, and really no odor.

Now I've addressed what it is, and addressed the "complaint" what everyone used/uses against smokers, yes you have a right as a smoker to smoke, but people use the second had smoke as a way to control you because you are interfering with others well being. Right/wrong or indifferent doesn't matter that is the FACT as to why smoking is banned in many places. Everything else is gravy, discoloration, odor etc.

99/100 times after that all they say is "That's great" if they are a non-smoker and have no smoker friends or "Hey where do i get one" or "hey my <boyfriend/husband/girlfriend/wife/mom/dad/etc smokes where can i get info on it."

There are alot of reasons not to "vape" publicly inside none of them are because of heath related issues or because it's illegal.

Why I stealth vape even when it's ok with the owner whatever? As a former smoker, if I do "big vapor" my fear is a smoker will see me and light up indoors, yes it's their problem, yes they should know (maybe they are from outta town I donno). But just as a general good deed so to speak I don't want to rub it in anyone's face I'm doing something you can't do...

I really think that's where people get all caught up about if it's ok or not ok to do, we need to forget about "law" and remember general courtesy... My two cents I'll get off my soap box now :)

Oh yeah i did say 99/100 only because I have had 1 experience where the waitress said I don't care you can't do that here. So I thanked her for her time, threw down a couple dollars to cover the soda I ordered and proceeded to leave. She said what about your meal? I said, well I'm sorry about that, but as you choose to not allow my vaporizer, I choose to not support this business nor you.

She did appologize at that point and say well it's ok, but I left anyway and have not been back.
