Yes I know that this shop only sells authentic batteries. They're a store that's part of a chain. The thing that they make you sign is more like to document that you bought the batteries and that you are fully responsible for any outcome of misuse etc.Is it just a "cover/legalize" agreement or do they actually include information in it? Does that vape shop sell authentic batteries (I am assuming they would, if they knew to do this). This is kinda interesting.

Exactly. When I worked in a shop I would not build coils for mech use. I am not educated in the use of them. I would not recommend batteries for mech use either. I had made myself notes on what battery for what wattage usage. And always kept Mooch's chart on computer. You want minimum wage vape shop employees to know Ohms law and basic electrical safety?
Well, I'd say that's a much better point made above. I don't frequent that many vape shops, but when I do I'm often going to a one man operation run by the owner (due to overhead) or a chain, in which many of the employees may not be so knowledgeable. I can certainly agree on the state of education in this country, and it's a shame that math and science isn't a more enjoyable pursuit. I will say that most of the math/science my son learned was via a private Catholic school (around here, you really can't do it, as many of them.... don't require birth certificates and are places where some of our... Visitors with wealth put their kids for school), so I reluctantly sent my son to a bunch of charter schools, but really, he ended up so bored I let him take the GED (which he passed, with "honors" LOL, not quite sure what that means, but he did tell me that he learned nothing new, math-wise, since 6th grade, back East) and it's sad that allowed him to pass a HS equivalency test "with honors" but I believe my state may be hovering around third from the bottom education-wise, last time I checked.
I am rather sad about that, but my son's always been an autodidact (since birth) and tends to move from obsession to obsession, so I don't worry too much about his future, I'm sure he'll wind up in a fine place, but the same could be said for many of his friends, though I'm sure some of them don't know Ohm's law, but could learn it. That's the great thing about young kids, they CAN learn things easily.... Whether any vape store is going to take the time to do that kind of education, I do not know, but that is more on the owner (IMO) than the minimum wage kids.
But, I don't think it's an unreasonable expectation for vape store minimum wage kids to learn a fair amount about e-cigarettes, heck, even my son knew more (without working in a vape store at all) about batteries, safety and whatnot, that I did, because he took the time to research it, because *he* wanted to be safe. I guess maybe my kid isn't the greatest barometer, as he's crazy smart DESPITE his education (though I did have to do a fair bit of remediation and deprogramming) and it's a shame that more parents today won't stand up and Do That. I do think that has made my kiddo a bit less snowflak-y than some of his generation, because I never had problems going in over reasonable issues and supporting my kid, and that included stuff like volunteering and whatnot, which I wish more parents had time to do. Because some of the stuff being taught these days is rather shocking.
But look, I kind of see it as an elder (I suppose) in my community, to talk with/argue/educate the kids around to new ideas that may have been completely suppressed by the current education. I could go on forever about that, but I'll stop by saying the problem perhaps isn't minimum wage, and I always wince, sometimes, at the topics my son chooses to write about in college classes, because I know it's controversial, but it's been nice to see that he can explore his ideas and get graded "fairly" regardless of it being a controversial topic. I will say that he's smarter than your average high school grad (probably) and tends to hang out with older folks because of it, fairly often. My hope is really that he leaves Tucson, even if I stay, because I see him blooming in a more productive environment that will appreciate his skills. I do in fact caution him at times about "Employer culture" because there is certainly the possibility of being "too smart" for one's position.
So I guess the burden is more upon the educational system itself and its attempts to create mindless sheep. But, having worked with MANY very poor kids around here, I will tell you that intelligence is very different from education, and there is always a HUGE pool of intelligent kiddos looking for more answers (and to be fair, some harmless OR harmful dolts) and the right employer can spot, train, and harness our intelligent and miseductated youth, and that is what they NEED to learn to do, because pretty much, that's going to wind up being what we GOT, period. IF schools can no longer educate children, employers are going to have to do it, since even colleges are falling into the "Appease them! No downtwinkles!" as it were, trap. When schools start arguing about who is going to get "safe spaces" stocked with tissues and cuddly animals and free contraception, I really worry about my tax dollars at work. NO employer should be doing that, and we are talking COLLEGE LEVEL.
Well, I hope this time passes, and education rebounds. Sorry to go on, time for me to end for the day, I think...

MTL is something as simple as a Juul or one of the new Innokins... they are bridge gear to help you transition. Moving to DL is a personal choice ( and a good one for me ). Don't diss MTL just like we shouldn't bash Sub ohm. We all have someone we know who isn't ready for a direct lung hit... they are looking for that cigarette sensations. I keep a MTL in my home to offer guests ... or its off to the kitchen and it's window for them and their combustibles along with a trash can shaped ashtray that reads "Keep America Beautiful. Don't Litter."Honestly I wouldn't have continued to vape if I would have been steered towards an MTL set up.
Nothing wrong with them but I'm a quick(ish) learner and would have struggled.
Oh no, I am against increasing regulations, you misread my post. I'm just stating that people need to do their own research on what to buy for their needs and not rely on vape shop employees. We do not need more government regulations to be our babysitter.@gofishtx I can't recall that any increased regulations ended up causing better customer service in any industry in history. Usually, natural selection takes care of that all on it's own. Maybe I just have a bad attitude of the gov, lol.
That is why this forum is so great, you can not only do your own research but glean information and recommendations from other members so that you can learn safety and what is the best set-up for you. I can understand a new vaper wanting to just grab and go with something simple. The problem is without knowledge of what they are buying, many who are not technology savvy get pushed into purchasing something that is not grab and go friendly or someone who needs a little more than what they have, get sold a mechanical when what they really needed was a step-up deviceI wonder why doing your own research is like, so hard with e-cigs. Honestly, when I started (dual using) I put way less thought into something like that than my own laptop, which, I even entered several stores and put it to the test prior to purchasing it online. I mean... It makes no sense, actually, I'd think that putting something to one's lips and inhaling it would lead an intelligent person to actually do some research before doing that, but I didn't. I don't know if the lifelong spiel about how cigs were going to kill me (which I already knew) gave me a certain... insouciance.... about buying things to inhale, but gosh, gee, I probably spent more time getting to know my new asthma inhaler (damn you, new patents for delivery mechanisms! I mean, other than e-cigs, I mean.... never mind) than my vape equipment.
When I got here, it was because I was having problems with my sub0hm setup gifted me by my son and I really WANTED to quit vaping, but same thing initially-- listened to my kiddo, bought some e-juice, and off I went. So, I'm hardly a good example of what I preach, though I WILL say that once I learned there was so much information to be had, I kinda was off to the races with it for a while. A good vape shop is the last line of defense (sometimes) against complete idiocy, and if they're selling rewraps and mech mods to new users, I despair. And, I think more research is EVER more necessary given the dizzying amount of setups and options these days.
I don't know why it is that someone-- even me-- who's a non-interested purchaser of many electronics (including cellphones) would do more research on that than even a single PIECE of research on my e-cig equipment.
I have to say, that is one reason I am fond of this forum. It definitely started me down the right path and kept me vaping, and I'm so glad I tumbleweeded myself here.... Honestly, I had no idea how much I Did Not Know, and some of it was really safety-related stuff, that I SHOULD have educated myself in.
Perhaps it was the cigs are easy== e-cigs should be equally so effect, IDK, but it's a bad thing and I know I am NOT alone in approaching it that way at first.....
