yeah sweetie, that's what I meant by a "dilemma" …

:D Yup! That's a dilemma. We'll have to move on and abandon those wires, dangerous batteries, etc. But with the politics in our way, we may not be able to do so anytime soon. I'm just glad we still can vape. And considering where and how we started, we have indeed made progress.

The early days--talk about dangerous. ;)

The owner should also teach the employees how to say "I'm sorry, I don't really know if this battery is safe for use in a mechanical mod and can't help you--we don't carry mechs, DYI coil building supplies, whatever." Nobody can possibly know everything about vaping, especially items they do not carry.

I agree with this.. I expect them to know what's for sale in their shop, how to use the gear and safety information of those items..

If they don't know about something then just say, sorry I don't know...

I believe it was back in 2011 when the forums here were flooded with battery issues and mods going kaboom because people were double stacking batteries in mechs. Batteries should always be a concern, even more so now since everyone want to vape at ultra low ohm, high watts...

Having said that, I still do not expect an employee at a shop that sells starter kits and pods to know about mechs and rebuildables.

And some mechs didn't even have venting holes.

Yup! I am trying to remember but didn't ECF, after the rash of kabooms, require mod makers here to add vent holes and post battery warnings about double stacking at the top of their sub forum in order to keep their account live?

LOL … yeah it's funny how technology advances and some folks do not expect it  …. My saving grace is that I was schooled in Electronics Engineering and so this vape stuff is quite elementary to me... HOWEVER, I remember when I was a teenager, b4 I was educated about electronics, and I was as clueless as could be … So, I TOTALLY understand why a new vaper would be clueless.... Yes, I would have to agree with you 100%... It's not the technology that is the problem but rather the IDIOTS who are in power.... Some politicians are so stupid and naïve that I would not hire them to be a baby-sitter. (most of it is corruption though)

IDK, it's hard to be sure with just pics but the soldering all looks to be neat, so where's the problem? ;)

I don't see the point in continuing to post the emails from the owner publicly.. At this point its past a warning and a bad review and has moved to a public shaming which is kinda uncalled for....

I agree with @Letitia... I don't expect a vape shop employee to be an expert in all things vape related. As a consumer, educate yourself and know what you are buying...

They made a mistake and were corrected. Move on and choose a different vape shop..
I agree. In the 7 years of vaping I may have been in a local store maybe 4 times just to see what it's like. I just fall into a category where local stores dont really have what I need, but just talking to them and reading stories, I would never ask or rely on anything they had to say because I know my own expertise. It is unfortunate however because a lot of new vapors rely on their knowledge.

He told me he uses mech's, that's how he knew I'd be "safe" at .15 with 15A. I've seen him and another employee there with a tube mech. I discuss this in an email with the owner. The one employee the owner mentions in her email walks around all day with a tube mech in his hand @dom qp can probably confirm this, he goes in there from time to time. I order 90% of my gear online, but do go there for wire and cotton since it's the same price.

Just curious if anyone has a problem if the kid at the local hardware or electronic store can't tell you anything about the batteries in the power tools or electronic products that they are selling you? Why do people insist on holding vape shops to a higher standard?

But they can - only use the battery pack that was designed to fit and work in the tool. Not going to ask the kid (or adult) in the hardware store what kind of batteries to get to replace them. Or the ones in my laptop battery. Likewise not going to ask the peeps at Best Buy what kind of batteries are ok to rebuild that, either.

Unless internal and fixed, mods don't come with batteries, and the ones we use are, generally, not recommended by their makers for our purposes. So it's not the same as the power tool pack.

Unfortunately, while we may still view vape shops as "specialty" shops, it seems that fewer and fewer of them are. It's becoming more of a "commodity", which may be good for general health IF the blister packs and pods get people away from combust tobacco.

Personally, I'm more likely to return to a shop if, when asked a question, they say "gosh, I don't know, but I'll try to find out" rather than unfounded (and perhaps wrong) answers.

I try to shop and support local business when I can.. Zero shops by me carry high end gear so I generally need to get all that from the web. I vape plain vg/pg base so again, it's web only as the places here that make their now juices won't sell the base. When I need other vape related gear I don't have a problem paying a bit more to buy local. Batteries, rebuildable gear, chargers ect... I'll generally pick that stuff up locally..

Congrats. you spent all that time to let that worker ( who probably isnt as informed as you are ) know that you are right and he was wrong. Great you did your due diligence and inform them. But at the end of the day youre talking with someone who wants your money, and could possibly lie to do so.

Sounds like you may want to switch shops or buy online.

You think that's a thing of the past :) ? Go check out the "Totem" Mech Mod from Kindbright ^^
Just because it says "Mech Mod" in the description/title, doesn't necessarily also mean it deserves to be called that. :D

Here's my authentic Totem V2 Luxury Edition Palladio Nero by Vaper's Mood (which, BTW, costs about 30 times the price of those silly clone versions from Kindbright).
