Optimo, you stated that the carto was a hard draw. Is that the case with the tanks that come with it too? I pre-ordered the white one with discount vaper and now i'm thinking about snaggin a couple packs of analogs. You see my two ego 650s are dead after two yrs. use. I've had V2, V4L, smokeless image, green smoke, smoov, the gripper and a dozen others but always had my 650s to fall back on. Now i've got to wait a week or two for my iTaste kit. Bummer...hope i don't go postal! All i can say is "The iTaste is teets man"! Sorry, i couldn't help but saying that. Oops :p

Sorry to hear that...hopefully you'll get it before the analog cravings set in. It's just the Tidy cartos that have a hard draw...the tank attys have a perfect draw not too airy or too tight. Where the iTaste battery has PWM circuitry they last a very long time...just make sure to get one of the x4/510 magnet adapters to go with it and you'll be in vaping heaven. You can also vape on them while it's charging.

I just received my iTaste about 20 minutes ago, so here's my initial reactions.

Nice packaging. (Not that I care about packaging. All those 'unboxing' videos make no sense to me at all)

Great look. The fit and finish seems to be very good at first glance. I ordered the chameleon color, and I've seen the same paint job on several hotrods. It's one of those hig-gloss deals that shifts colors depending on how you look at it. Anywhere from forest green, to black, to purple with hints of everything else. It does have a strong tendency towards the green.

In terms of size, it's just about what I was hoping for. It's just a tiny bit thicker than an ego, and with the cap, it's at most a 1/2" longer than the Innokin Lea with a cap. That makes it still much smaller than some of the larger models like the Leo, and tiny compared to pretty much every other VV I've seen. The square shape is surprising comfortable in my hand. Somebody asked about putting a drip tip on and still using the cap. Having received the unit, but none of the adapters (I went with the tank system version) I can't say for sure. I will say that I think it would only be possible with a short carto and a shorty drip tip, or possibly a shorty drip tip on a regular 510 atty. Anything longer and the cap probably won't work.

I was both curious about, and concerned about, the magnetic connection. Watching some of the videos made it look like it was really tough to pull off, while being wobbly at the same time. The reality is the complete opposite. It's very easy to take the atty off on purpose, but there is almost no wobble and I really can't see it ever coming off on accident.

The other bit I was concerned about, and I'm still not sure of, is the charging cable. It uses a round DC connector instead of a mini/micro USB. This may actually be an improvement, as I've knocked internal USB connectors loose several times on other PV's. The other end of the charge cord is a standard USB, which is good. Ultimately, time will tell with this one.

The instructions that come with it, like everything I've ever owned that was made in China, are a joke. Let me lay out some instructions that actually explain how to use the VV controls.

Press and hold either button until the screen lights up and you'll get a puff counter. It stays on the screen for 1-2 seconds, and is replaced by your current voltage. While the current voltage is on the screen, tap + or - to adjust. The screen goes out on it's own after 1-2 seconds.

Press and hold both buttons together and the screen will flash two numbers. These are the recommended high and low voltage settings for the currently attached atty or carto. This is a GREAT feature for folks like me that are new to VV.

I really can't review the vaping quality yet, as 20-30 minutes is just not enough time, although I will say that my initial reaction to the tank system it uses has been very good, and I was amazed at what a huge difference a small voltage adjustment can make.

I also want to address some of the comments about the $40 for a replacement battery.

Yes. A replacement battery will run you about $40, while a replacement/spare battery for a provari will only run you about $15. However, that is comparing apples to oranges in a big way.

Let's look at what you'd spend for 2 batteries in reality.

With a provari, to get the provari, 2 batteries, and a charger, you're looking at $217.80 unless they have a sale. Figure 4 atomizers at around $8 each, and $8 for a package of cartridges, you're now looking at $257.80. Let's be kind and round it down to $250.

With the iTaste, to get the main unit with built in battery, a charger, 4 atomizers, a package of cartridges, you're looking at $79.95. I've seen it cheaper, but I bought from a vendor I know and trust, and that's what I paid. Same vendor sells extra batteries for $40.95. Altogether, that puts the same effective kit as the provari with 2 batteries at $120.90. That's less than half the cost.

If you burn up a battery with the iTaste, yeah, it's another $40.95, but you could do that 3 times, and still have spent less than a provari. Granted, the electronics in the pro-vari 'may' last longer, but if there is any cost savings at all with the pro-vari vs the iTaste, it would probably take a year or even a few years to see any savings.

Don't get me wrong, there certainly are advantages to the pro-vari, but battery cost isn't one of them. There are also advantages to the iTaste, like not walking around having people think you're sucking on a screwdriver.

I ordered one on the 31st from WhiteStag and got a shipping notice yesterday (june 1) - says it will be delivered by June 4 - so I'm expecting mine Monday. Just received my Provari today and I'm loving it - however, I couldn't resist the iTaste (how could I when all of my tech items start with an "i" - lol). Judging from the reviews in this thread, it should be fine for me for an "on the go" pv. I'll update when I get mine - I ordered it in black.
