Noooo, my job is to set you up with things you'd like to respond to but CAN'T type them here. Grrrrrrr.
Your first experience was with an eGo battery, you say. Hopefully, an authentic Joye product. That produced a lot of vapor, but you thought the taste was bland compared to the non-conventional cartos and batteries. That's why there are mods, I guess. It's not one size fits all.
However, Joyetech is very specific in saying that their products are designed to work with only their own Joyetech counterparts. Their cartos are designed to work with their own batteries, not others, and vice versa. Electronic Cigarette, E-Cigarette, Elektronische Zigarette, Cartridge, eZigar
I use the Joye 510 cartos exclusively. They're not perfect, but I like them. But then, I only use authentic Joye batteries designed for those cartos.
The only time I experience the harsh burned taste is when I have either burned them too hot by puffing on them too continuously (like "hot-boxing" a smoke), or when I've vaped them dry. The Joye cartomizer is made of plastic, and the wicking on the atomizer is appears to be a cotton thread. The fiber fill is more like cigarette filter material, but much sparser. If you burn it too hot or too dry, it will scorch the wick and possibly the filler material. Take it way too hot and it can actually burn the shell of the carto. The key to avoiding any of these is to stop vaping when the carto is getting hot to the fingers, or when the vapor starts to become sparse as the e-juice is used up.
When vaped properly, I find the vapor is plenty dense and flavorful. In fact, one of the main selling points is how smoothly they vape. Maybe too smooth for your tastes. But I advise against using them with batteries they are not designed for. Use Joye cartos with Joye batteries, as intended.
With T's posts, any liquid in your mouth will get spit out all over your monitor due to laughing.
We don't drink our e-liquids either. We usually vape it. Occasionally, we inject it!![]()
Out of curiousity…
Do all of you who really like these not taste the plastic of the wall of the carto? Because its overpowering to me.
Hi bsoplinger. I've fried a couple 510 cartos recently and your post got me to thinking.
I cranked my Buzz way down to 3v and put a 510 carto on it. I filled the carto two days ago so its had plenty of time to sit and soak up the e-juice. At 3v I get a decent cloud of vapor and lots of taste. I could probably run the voltage up a bit, but this is pretty good where I have it.
I'm not getting any burnt taste and the shell of the carto isn't getting hot. It appears the 510 cartos just don't like a lot of power under them.
That would make sense, since they're made specifically for the 3.2ish voltage of the genuine Joye products. With that said, I've never had a problem with them on my 5V passthru either.
Hot dang, I finally did something that made sense and my old buddy upStomp said so! I'm just so proud of me! I'm so excited! I have to go pee.
That makes sense too, Tex! You should never get too excited without taking a moment to relieve yourself.
2 for 2!
Very good, and helpful, review. I used KR808 cartos a couple years ago and it just didn't do it for me...enough so that I gave up vaping until a couple weeks ago. I just got some 510 cartos in the mail today, so I'm happy to hear that I didn't make a mistake by not going with the boges first. Thanks!
Oh man upStomp, you've got me LOL'ing so hard my sides are aching!

Preferably not while still seated in front of the computer.
I've noticed some physical differences between batches of these cartos (I believe some came from a different vendor). The vent chamber on my original order from FSUSA is wide open, with a large "D" shaped opening next to the fill port. The boxes I've opened recently have a closed vent chamber with just a small hole for airflow. These seem to be less reliable - 1 being DOA, some completely die after 1 day. Again, I don't think the ones with the closed chamber came from FSUSA.
I have no idea if there was a revision at some point, or if one of these iterations is a knock-off.
