Update to running 430ss on an Evic in Ti mode. I ditched the previous twisted 28g coil that kept jumping out of tc and replaced with something higher res. Close to @JeremyR 's build.

New build: unkamen 28g 430ss, 6 spaced wraps, 2.78mm, .57 ohm cold res.

So far, so good. Stays in ti mode. Vapor and flavor is good @250°f. I'll update later.

Update: Over 24hrs. and 15ml. Still no probs. Hasn't jumped out of tc even once since first fire. Running at 280°f.

I've switched it back and forth between vw and Ti mode several times with no issues.

Sooo what did we do.. Have we found the sweet spot I thought could exist?

No annealing with blue flame maybe helped. But the .73 I did was off the spool and it was jumping too.

The only issue with ss is we need 5° increments for better control in ti mode.

Not really sure what we did J. I annealed this one with a blue flame as well as the previous twisted ones. Wondering if static res of my STmini was too high of a percentage of the total res before, with the lower res build. That doesn't explain what happened with yours though.

430ss is still working perfectly on my evics after 2 days of very heavy use. Probably vaped close to 30mils now. Hopefully after an intense dryburn and rewick it'll hang in there. Shouldn't be much longer for rewicking cuz the juice I'm using is pretty sugary.

@JeremyR , maybe something between .5-.7ohms cold res IS a sweet spot for the evic using 430ss.

Mine too ! , .62 ss430

We know .72 is no good and .32 is not good.

.62 &.57 are good.

I think we know the top end is less than .7 probably .65 max,

For the lower end my gut guess is .45. If you can get a twisted that high it may work for you.

But .5-.6 is probably the best I'm thinking. So far..

@JeremyR ,I'm really liking how much faster 28g 430ss ramps up to temp compared to 24Ti too. Hit the fire button and BAM, instantaneously goes into tp/regulation while vaping. My STmini hovers at 30w while vaping with temp set to 280°f and 50w

What temp and wattage settings are you using? Which atty?

Yeah man I used 32 for the longest time for that reason, instant heat up. I finally moved to 28 a while ago. Good balance. Still heats fast enough, but not as fast as parallel 32. That sht was instant man, twice as fast as 28g!

I really like the way the evic responds if its adjusted to be equal. Like for your example set at 30w and 280. For me, I like a lot of heat fast, most my kanthal was in the 320-400 heat flux!

If I buck it off the temp protect it really is not as good or as hot as going full voltage and only temp protect when the wick drys.

My best strongest vape is if I set the temp close to where it needs to be and then adjust the wattage till it doesn't tp much on a normal drag and i get the vape i want, then up the temp 10 degrees.

Sorta still living on the edge like with kanthal but with protection.

This may help others looking for more from tp.

Lots of peeps run their tc mods for temp protect only as you do, lots of peeps run theirs for temp control and temp protect as I do. It's really just a matter of preference. The Evics, DNA200's and Apollo Reliants have no problem running in either configuration but there are some tc mods that require running in your config eg. SXK's and Yihi's for example which can get pulsy or rattlesnake. Nice thing about the VT is it allows us to choose without compromise.

I wonder if it is possible to open up the VT and reconnect the USB port and upgrade the device with the mini firmware.

Really need some close up shots of the VT and VTmini to compare the boards and see if they are similar with the USB line enabled/connected/etc.
I would end up bricking the device....
