Reviews I have seen clearly state that the device runs between 30 and 60 watts in temp mode. That is an incredibly bone head design decision IMO. I would have bought one as a backup but unless that issue is addressed, I'm out.
And maybe you're being a little hasty too. In TC mode, why do you need to directly control every erg of energy going to the coil? That's what the mod is supposed to do
for you once you select your temperature.
Rest assured, it WILL modulate power below 30 watts as needed to maintain your desired temperature. It's not going to melt your drip tip or sear your lungs.
But that mandatory 30w minimum does something I think is hugely important for new TC users that both Evolv and Yihi dropped the ball on...
IT MAKES THEM DISCARD THEIR KANTHAL EXPERIENCE.
Seriously. There's a group of vapers out there that are so used to doing things the same way, that they won't step outside the box unless
forced. Took months to convince folks that spaced coils were the way to go with TC, for instance, and those were the bleeding edge early adopters. This new crop of mass-market TC users is going to be behind that curve.
The "tootle puffers" will be afraid to set wattage above 15w, because that's as high as they dared go with Kanthal tanks. You see them in every single TC device thread wondering why they don't get good results from TC builds/prebuilts, because they're still in that Kanthal mindset and aren't setting the proper (high enough) wattage. They're not taking into account that they're trying to fire what amounts to a super sub ohm load instead of the 1.5 ohm (average) loads they're used to powering, and then wonder why it doesn't perform.
Preheat features can help
somewhat with this, but starting with an overly low wattage setting is the root of many of their problems.
