Not mine, not even remotely close. I have made thousands of coils over the years. 28 gauge kanthal I just wrap it around a small screwdriver and give it tug. Nice and tight and the leads stay where I want them. With 26 gauge stainless I need to chuck it in a drill and hold tension on it while turning the bit to keep it tight. And then the leads still tend to spring back some. I even tried torching it first to soften it up, didn't help much.

Maybe I got an extra stiff batch or something.

Or maybe there is just that much of a difference between 28 and 26 gauge wire. Never used 26 gauge kanthal so I have no comparison.
I have used 22 gauge SS316l and its softer than 28awg kanthal. You must have the wrong stuff.

316L SS 26 gauge by UD. Maybe the batch was a bit off. I used to work in foundry so I know it can happen. Probably gets heat treated as well and that might not have been right. Maybe the oven temps were off. It is still usable, just not very fun to work with.
I have some 24 SS laying here and some 26 kanthal could probaby make a 10 sec video showing you spring difference. lol

Don't bother, I don't have those kind of trust issues lol. You don't have to prove anything to me. If I really wanted to I could just look up the specs and compare the two alloys. Just looking at the numbers would tell me which one should be softer.

All I know is the experience I personally have with the wire that is in front of me at the moment.

I would re order from another brand. Definitely easy to work with and awesome that you can use in temp or power mode.

Just did a little research and SS is prone to hardening when worked. My guess is at some point when it got spooled the tension may have been too high on the machine and it added some stiffness that you normally wouldn't see. And the reason torching it didn't help is because it actually gets harder after you heat it up lol.

I will probably end up getting some thinner wire at some point anyway and see how that goes.

As for taste that has never been an issue for me. I can't tell the difference between nickel, kanthal or stainless. I can't tell the difference between cotton, rayon or any other wicking material either. My taste buds must be shot.

Just FYI--torching wires is not recommended under any circumstances, not even Kanthal. Whatever you do, do not torch or otherwise overheat your dry wire, especially ss and Ti. Only gentle pulsing to check the build, low wattage, short pulses, is recommended.

I found out about temp control and now use SS in my RDA and in atomizers as much as I can find available. Seems most are still Kanthal. SS on temp control keeps the dry hits away and wick lasts sooo much longer.
Eleaf HW1 coil is ss and compatible with a few tanks and the Aspire Triton has a ss coil that is compatible with many tanks.

Another SS 316L user!:)

Started on Kanthal long ago, had several gauges of it in 100 foot spools (TEMCo brand). Once I started with their SS 316L wire, going back to Kanthal (any brand wire or prebuilt coils) tastes nasty.:D

Am beginning to dabble with SS Clapton double core or fused wire from Lightning Vapes. More costly for 25 feet, although the flavor is great. Will use for certain tanks, a bit costly for everyday usage.

I can't tell you why but I prefer AVS, Advanced Vape Supply, ss over LV. Code AVS gets you 20% off.

Thanks for the recommend, have purchased items from their eBay store in the past. Probably single & dual core Kanger coils & tanks, it's been awhile back. Will check out the site & see what they have to offer.:)

Have never seen drop in coils On AVS, just ss wire and pre-built coils.
