I think that'll help I'll try a bit more of that. Problem is its hard to get the bends right to accommodate the screw posts on the Russian, I'm just going to have to slow down and be more thoughtful about it, probably making it harder than it needs to be. Might need some 18 mg to soothe me while I do this lol

So I unwrapped my Russian after about 30mls and man that wick had some major GUNK on the inside (outer diameter of coil). But no burning, as it pretty much washed off.

Unfortunately when I pulsed the coil I noticed it wasn't glowing inside out and evenly anymore, hello hot spots. The coil bought the farm after a little adjusting and pulsing and didn't have much success setting up another one lol. Its much more difficult for me to set up tight, even micros like this vs. a horizontal coil, less room to pulse and squeeze. I'm getting coil deformation from the take off of the legs, I need to figure out how to do this in a way that isn't so labor intensive, because going back to horizontals isn't an option

If you think it is hard on a Russian wait til you try it on a Fogger. Really tight enclosed space...:)

Or a ProTank head.

I did try 32g twisted on a Protank head. It worked ok with nice lower resistance.............eventually, but I did find that the twisted strands tended to tear up the rubber grommet on the Protank. It would probably not last too many recoils with the twisted. Still waiting for my 30g to arrive, which will probably get the resistance down and allow for the same number of wraps.
Interesting stuff though.

Set up a Kranger Protank with a 1.2 ohm, 28g, 1.5mm vertical coil and hemp fiber. Leaving the drill bit in I packed hemp around the coil, tight at the bottom so no leaks and a little looser at the top. Have vaped three tanks thru it and can honestly say it vapes better than any genny I have ever vaped. I am sold on the vertical hollow coil and all the air drawn thru the coil. My coil was set with the bottom leg as pos and top leg pushed to the side by the hemp forced between the leg and the coil. :)

I don't have a Russian yet but this should work the same. On the fogger to get the bends right I take the screws out, put 18g needle tips , or anything the right size, in the screw holes. position/center the coil and make the bends around the needle tips and clip them. Take needle out. Put the coil in position and replace the screws. Wala!

Hi folks, just thOught I'd drop by to mention I've been hearing good things about the hemp fibre from BJ Curus and the wicking crew. I've been running dual stacked series coils on my bottom feed mods with cotton balls, and have been so satisfied with the vapor th and flavor all my gennies and hybrids have been sat collecting dust, bar the odd one I've played with nano dragons and auto drip micros. I have a Russian that went back in its box due to poor oring taste and poor innitial performance with a micro and cotton. Thanks to all your encouragement I have just ordered 1KG of un gummed 100% hemp fibre fill here in Oz for $25 delivered. Do y'all think it can compete with cotton balls in a 1.5mm micro? Will it be as easy to install the wick? Will it puff up to fill the coil in the same way as the cotton wool?
Here's hoping or I might be stuffing some teddy bears soon :)

Ok.....tried the hemp fiber from Hemp Traders

My hemp didn't seem to "fluff" back up (see pic below). I did process a fairly large qty. Anyone else with this stuff (ahem BJ...Mike) have any suggestions? I might try processing it again, just washing by hand and then boiling a little more....but kind of want to figure out how to fluff dry.

Ok, on the usage. I just replaced the cotton in the TGT (1.3 ohm micro coil) with hemp. At first there was definitely some "hemp" flavor, but it wasn't as strong or the same as previous hemp I have tried. Now ~3/4 of the way down on the large 5ml tank of the TGT and the "hemp" flavor has drastically subsided, there is only a slight hint now and its more of a slightly muted taste of the original juice than an additional "hemp" flavor that was present at the start.

There are so many variables in processing procedure, juice, and etc....so YMMV.

My Juice is DIY 50/50 Watermelon Frost, using 18% Lorann (bright red) Watermelon and 2% Menthol from menthol crystals in PG.

All that said.....as of right now (only 3/4 of a tank) I think I like it better than cotton. The hemp seems more consistent in both flavor and and vapor. For me cotton seems to come and go with flavor and vapor. The flavor tweak of hemp is more of a subdued richer/darker tweak on the original juice flavor, whereas cotton for me seems to add more of a sharp lighter tweak and almost tastes as if its about to scorch at any time (but usually doesn't).

Time and some further experimenting will tell :D

Here is the pic of my setup and chunk of my processed hemp

Yes to all your questions, but where it really sh:)ines is on the hollow coil vertical wick on the Russian or Fogger.

I just fluff the matted parts with my fingers. Good to know it works inside the coil. I am so into hollow coils had not even tried a traditional setup with the fiber.:)

Thinking about setting up a vert coil in the A7 using some Mundy Magic twisted wire

As well as your typical setups in the Russian and Fogger.
