New hemp build.....I call it the loop wick....The atty is a Taifun GT

The wick is just some hemp looped tight around the coil and the ends ran out to the channels.

I wanted to see if I could get a good and efficient 30g coil and so I tried coiling around a 20g needle 0.85mm....I wanted a little bit bigger but was in hurry so I tried it.

The wick works great! The little diameter coil....not so much :D....but its vapeable.....air flow doesn't seem bad, the coil ID fills with juice pretty easy.

Regardless I think this is a much easier build and has potential to perform every bit as good stuffing the entire chamber.

I will try it again with a little larger diameter coil tonight.

I think type of build may work on a fogger???

Thought about that, I'll give it a try in the fogger, may slow down wicking a bit

Fogger with Hemp. 1 ohm 28g. Not a lot of space between coil and the base. I would not put this on a device without protection. The atty has been modded to fit ceramic wicks, so the slots are about 5mm wide. The hemp does a great job at creating a stable barrier to prevent atty flooding. Nice Vape!

Coil:

With Baps's Hemp Twist (current build working well)

First build fully loaded....(no so good...soupy mess...lol)

With a little extra on the legs, I raise my coil off the base a bit

First try I had it higher off the base, but when the hemp expanded it blocked air flow a bit...

gdeal....did you loop it around the coil, or just make a void in the wick for the coil and twist the ends to tighten it up around coil?
I used two separate pieces then twisted them tight. I added a bunch more at the slot to build up the barrier.

That's pretty much what I do on my Russian91 (of course I'm still sing the white stuff  ). I form a pretty small cotton wick and run it around the coil, but I also go between the long leg and coil twice, once on the outside and once on the inside. I noticed (I think) that if the heat from the coil blasts the cotton away from the coil the vape suffers, so I've been striving for firm and stable pressure between wick and OD of the coil without having to just pack the whole thing.

(Then I run the legs of the skinny cotton down onto the decks and fold them over a few times, though I'm liking this idea less since reading about how you guys are using sep. clumps for the decks)

Now I really need to do this on my A7s so I can reoVV this set up on the go...

(Gdeal I got your email, thank you man, I've been stretched kind of thin lately)

New to vapping and just started rebuilding the coils for my T3S, Evod and Mini nova, been using 1mm, 2mm Silica and just been experimenting with 1mm Ekowool.

Seen the post about silica fibers and cant say i liked the idea to much so want to try something new for my wicks when i came across this thread.

Im currently looking for a UK source for my hemp and am a little confused about what i need, would something like this do the job?

Pure NATURAL HEMP TWINE 0.5MM -1MM- 2MM Crafts- Beading -scrapbook | eBay

Looks like the same "twine" we have been using but it is not the hemp fiber we are now testing. For normal wick thru the coil that hemp twine should work fine.:) Get the 2mm.

Great thanks for the reply I'll be ordering a ball tonight one in from work :)

With regards to preparing the hemp what would you suggest. I've read about boiling it for 10 - 20 min? I take it you only boil what your going to use.

Not sure what the wife will say about that one, could be worth a laugh.

I take about 3m and wash it well between fingers with dishwashing detergent, rinse, then boil three times for 20 min and three water changes, let dry and fluff a little in my fingers to soften. Some boil much longer. The longer you boil the less chance of getting any woody hemp flavor.:)

Anyone try soaking in PG? Maybe boil, soak for an hour or so in PG, rinse, then boil again.

Thinking being that whatever hemp flavor that is soluble in PG, would get washed away that way?

The reason I wash and scrub in detergent even SS mesh is to remove any other organic mater before boiling. I always give the example if you have some raw egg yoke in there, after boiling you are going to have cooked egg yoke in there, that may or may not be good for flavor even if sterile.

Hey BJ...bapgood sent me some of this Hemp Fiber. This is not your ordinary Hemp. Honestly, I tried all the other hemp wick materials and while most wicked and vaped really well, they never played nice with my peppermint ejuice. I always had a slight undertone of woodiness that threw off the taste.

But this stuff is fantastic. I have only set it up so far in a dripper, KFL and Reo, but its working so much better than cotton. No woodyiness! What is really noticeable is the consistency of the vape. Cotton starts very bright and tails off depending on the wetness and age of the wick. This stuff stays even all the time.

Here is close up comparing a cotton ball to the cleaned Hemp Fiber (on the right). The Hemp fibers are much more distinct and less fuzzy.

Great Find!

That hemp fiber looks the bomb!

Can't wait to try it out.

WOW! So, I won't name names; but someone (gdeal) was kind enough to send me some of this magic hemp of which you all speak. I started it on a NEMP tobacco since I heard it plays well with such type juices. Yes, it indeed did good things for this juice! I almost want to say umame. There's a certain richness to the vape; a fullness that I'd almost compare to the way fats round out food flavors (if I were nutty* enough to do such a thing). So, I thought I'd try it with my favorite Lemonade flavor . .. . . no place for that woodsy hempsy flavor to hide in there; and, sure enough, I caught a whisper of the hemp flavor on my first few toots. But what surprised me was how much the tangy lemoniness was elevated! WOW! Different flavor profiles across the board (from the cotton I'd been using Pure Cotton - Koh Gen Do | Sephora).

Will have to experiment more . . . . . for science!

*more fats there
