I am really liking it with the 30g oval coil and two threads of 2mm hemp. My only problem is it is a choddy and there is no clear tank for it. I hate not knowing (Period).

BJ what clone are you using? I have a terminator and besides weighing two tons (which isn't a huge deal) it's great minus not having a clear tank, which I think they now offer for it. Which should also help with weight.

It is a choddy I got in a co-op and I have been informed neither the Ody or Term tanks fit it.

I've re-read this thread top to bottom, trying to find out how many different hemp sources we have collected so far... What about trying to rank them, for those of us lucky enough to have tested more than one?

Ebay (Lovepedal), US: Hemp Twine Cord 1mm 20 Test 5 10 or 25 Yards Color Selectable | eBay

Rawganique.com, Canada/US: Organic Hemp Twines

The Hemp Shop, UK: Hemp waxed medium weight waxed twine #3 (waxed, not good)

Etsy, US? : 100 Degummed Hemp Fiber Sliver by TheHempHippie on Etsy
Similar to or same as: Amazon.com: 100% Raw Hemp Fiber (Sliver): Home & Kitchen

Hemp Traders, US: Hemp Twine hemptraders.shop033.com

Amazon US: Amazon.com: Hemp Twine - 48 LB. Test - 2mm - 265 Feet - 200g - 100% Hemp Fibers: Home & Kitchen

Amazon US: Amazon.com: Hemp Twine - 170 LB. Test - 2mm - 125 Feet - 300g - 100% Hemp Fibers: Home & Kitchen

Amazon US: Amazon.com: Hemp Twine Bead Cord 2mm 197 Feet NATURAL 42673: Home & Kitchen (Not so good, braided?)

(any other sources I may have missed?)

No waxed hemp should be used and would not recommend the silver fiber (silver dye?) Hemptrader has the fiber in natural. Be careful with organic as most are too raw and do not wick well. In the organic in Canada this would be my choice.

BJ I think you're referring to the hemp sliver, but why shouldn't that be good in case? Nothing to do with silver, AFAIK, seems to be like the one used by plumbers. Well, old-style plumbers, that is :)

On the same Amazon page it's also offered as raw degummed fiber, anyway: Amazon.com: 100% Raw Hemp Fiber (Sliver): Home & Kitchen

Just carrying over Amazon's description for the product you linked:

Hemp sliver (Untwisted Drawn Out Fibers) is designed for blending, spinning, home-art craft, paper making. Ideal for any small fiber business, hand spinners as novelty/exotic gifts. Also known as "Plumbers Hemp", it can be used to help seal pipes. Fiber length > 70-100mm (4-5 inches long), A grade. Long hemp sliver is the step just before spinning and is used in twine, yarn, cordage, textiles, paper, webbing and household goods. At the end of this product's life, the organic hemp fabric is 100% biodegradable, unlike synthetic fabrics or tanned leather. This product is sold in quantities of Killograms.

Have you tested it?

I was mumbling about buying some, despite the hefty shipment price, after the "lovepedal fiasco"... my order from them failed to show up so far (about 4 weeks now) and they don't reply on ebay. but I'm digressing...

No I haven't tried but from the description it seems to be similar to the 12 strand hemp I have. Personally I would go with the Amazon.

Why is it so white colored? I try and stay away from colors. I read silver instead of sliver (old eyes). That is the only reason. I have some natural fiber but it in no way wicks as fast as the twisted 12 strand 2mm twisted hemp. Hey this is just my opinion, go for it.:)

OK, so twisted it will be. Hopefully, of the 12-strand variety.

I'm desperately looking for good tips before ordering again, for one month after ordering the lovepedal's hemp I'm still on cotton, and considering I need to order again from US or Canada - apparently I've got no valid European alternatives - I'd like to go with something already proven good :) But no lovepedal again, to be sure.

I've got Amazon Prime, but just discovered it's only valid for amazon Italy, those b@stards... so I'm trying to decode how much would it cost to have that 2mm (or 3, let's see) hemp twine shipped to me. BTW, we still don't know how many strands it's made of.

Life was easier before hemp... and I've not even started on it ;)

P.S. today I've sent an email to The Hemp Shop (UK) for getting additional info on some of their hemp twines: their prompt anwser has been to order their sampler (sort of: see for yourself). So I guess I'm back to American continent ordering.

The Pit of Despair
I had great luck with lovepedal on eBay. I ordered 10 yards of the 1mm natural hemp twine (she was out of 2mm). Got here in five days.

I boiled it for 20 minutes twice with a water change and thorough rinse in between, and a thorough distilled water rinse after.

My AGA-T2 wick hole is drilled out to 1/8", and I also removed the negative "post" and drilled out the resulting hole to 1/8" for a U-wick.

I used three strands of the 1mm twine. I wrapped a 4/3 wrap of 32ga Kanthal for 1.8ohms using an unfolded paperclip for support, and inserted the wick in the AGA, running both ends into the tank in a U-wick. The coil sits off to the side with the negative screw.

Since there's not really a possibility to dry-burn, I filled the tank 2/3 with juice and watched it climb the wick. It met at the top in about two minutes, and was fully-saturated in about five. This stuff really wicks juice.
To test fire I added a little juice to the coil itself and lit it up at 3.3V. It fires well with zero hotspots.

I've been vaping it for about six hours, slowly raising the voltage. I'm now at 4V and it's blowing clouds.

I got none of the earthy/woody flavors people talk about with hemp. I did use a strong-flavored juice that I'm not crazy about in case I had to dump the tank, but it tastes pretty much identical to a SS mesh wick. Closer to cotton, probably.

My next coil will be more upright (it bends with the U-wick too much toward the center), because I can't get the exact airflow over the coil I want, but otherwise I'm vaping happy with this wick.
