I would love to find the ramie degummed also....i am just not having luck with vert coil in the russian 91. I went back to hemp. If anyone else needs 8oz ramie let me know.

Me? I'm curious to try it. Used hemp w/ vertical builds and it worked well - for me though it just added a hint of it's taste to my mild fruit flavors so I stopped using it.

Pulled cotton out of my microcoil and replaced it with ramie. I can't taste the ramie but I don't have an available cotton coil with the same juice to test. I broke the baring fill port on my kayfun so I'm having to use the squape I just got last weekend and haven't gotten the wicking down right.. Was getting dry hits occasionally with cotton and would have to re-wick. The ramie is a little more forgiving while I try to figure out how to pump VG through these channels without flooding it.

I'm using a light banana flavor and I know I wouldn't be able to stand it with hemp.. maybe I didn't prep my hemp well enough but I used pretty much the same methods as the ramie. Oh well it still works great with tobacco flavors and I have a ton of 12mg nic NET flavors it mutes the nic on for me.

Update:
I think I have the wick trimmed back enough to prevent dry hits and she's working really good so far. I must have had 5 or 6 dryish tasting hits and didn't scorch the ramie.. Cotton would have been much darker and permanently nasty tasting by now.

I guess I am just not very faithful. My love a couple of months ago (russian, kavfun style with vertical wick and hemp have been set aside in the genny drawer) :(, now all I desire is TGT with dual horizontal coils in the .8 to 1 ohm with ramie thru the coils. Still using hemp thru the coils on one TGT that has my favorite tobacco. Ordered 4 more TGTs from FT.

Well, I decided to try out this ramie stuff. I'm really liking it. It does seem to have less of a flavor than the cotton. I haven't used it long enough to see how it holds up over time, but the flavor factor is a big plus. It does not seem to swell as much as cotton, so I'm having to learn how much to use in various atomizers. I haven't really gotten that down yet in my Kayfun devices or my Squape. In the Squape, I'm getting flooding, so I suppose I'm not using enough. In my Kayfuns, I have the opposite problem, dry hits. Just some adjusting to get those right, I presume. I have had my best results with the Spheroid-type attys (including Spheroid, Prometey, etc.). The ramie is performing beautifully in these devices. Best performance I've ever gotten out of them, and that's saying something, as they perform really well with cotton too. I have a Heron coming in, so I'm excited to see how the ramie performs in that. Thanks, BJ, for your vigilant efforts to explore every possible wicking material imaginable.

I just picked up some ramie too, on the Spheroid are you using the ramie as a filler too or only on the wick itself?

Wick only. I basically fold a piece in half, creating a loop, very similar to the way people use silica in a Spheroid. It holds its shape better than cotton does, which I think is part of the reason it performs better than cotton in a Spheroid.

promised to send you a pix of the cabeling I came up with,,,forgot the thread It was in !
using a 5s connecter ( 6 pin ) for the mod and the cable .two wires about 20 gage for both pos and neg from the charge plug that takes up 4 pins in the connecters ...
the balance plug is spliced in pos to pos and neg to neg and the center of balance connecter take up one more pin ...so one pin is emty.
that should take care of the charger reqirement and using 2 or three amps charge current for large batterys to.
just rebuild a tfg with hemp ...love it ....have fun with ramie.
