I'm pretty sure the hemp I bought a while back from Hobby Lobby was of the wrong variety....So I give the 2mm stuff from Amazon a shot.

BJ, If my memory serves you are wrapping your oval coil using two tooth pics, correct?
Started out using two toothpicks until Quig suggested two 2mm bits taped together, much easier to slip the coil off.

You lucky, best option for me sounds like 20 bucks :(

What truly amazes me is that hemp seems to be produced here in Europe, but I just can't find it anywhere over here... so I need to resort to US/Canada vendors. Freaking globalisation... :D

"amazing that shipping is over 11 bucks for one ball of twine on here"

Organic Hemp Twines

You can chose $6 and change from the drop down. Takes "1-5 weeks", but I'd never had domestic shipping from anywhere take more than like a week regardless of service chosen.

I'd like some help deciding between hemp and cotton so I'm posting this to the hemp and cotton threads.
Both would be organic and nothing whatsoever added.

It seems like cotton wicks faster and holds more juice for a juicier hit, but burns maybe %30 easier.
Hemp won't burn as easily, but does it wick slower and not soak up a lot of juice?

However, I'd be using it in a bottom coil atomizer, so do I even have to worry about slow wicking or dry hits, in which case, I should chose cotton because it soaks more and gives a juicier hit? Thanks.

Most of us that are now on bamboo and or hemp used cotton first, Don't understand all your assumptions on wicking and soaking, on my lab tests I have found nothing faster or holds more than hemp.

Why would three limp 1mm threads be stiffer than than one 3mm thread?

I was thinking along the lines of 3 coffee stirrers together being stiffer than 1 straw. But i was referring to being stiffer than cotton.

K, so lovepedal said the 1mm is supposed to be about 6 strands, 'as it says in the listing' (I don't see this anywhere), but the 2 mm is 12 strands

Guess I'm just waiting for the 2 mm :)

Hmm...in the first post of this thread, BJ said both had 12 strands, and showed images:

This is what it looks like. Has 12 twisted strands. The 2mm also has 12 larger twisted strands.

I ordered 1mm because it was all they had, figuring I can just double-up two pieces. Now I wonder how many strands each has?

I'll have it today or tomorrow and will report back here.

Then on my first order (White) that I ordered as 1mm they must of sent me 2mm which is actually 1.5mm and figured I wouldn't know the difference. Anyway now I am using the the 2mm natural that also has 12 strand and preferring it. It has mellowed my DIY cigar booze with a woody hint that makes it more like a real cigar.

I was placing an order on amazon anyway and I spotted this 2mm hemp twine for $5.65 shipped:

Hemp Twine Bead Cord 2mm 197 Feet NATURAL 42673

Looks like it should be the right stuff, so I added it to my order. I'll report back when it gets here.

I got some of that and it was not as good, if it says cord it is usually braided and not twisted, twisted wicked much better than braided in all my tests.

Yesterday I decided to only use a MVP that has a puff counter. I calculate I vape about 14 hrs a day deducting meals and bath time. It turned out I vaped 776 times during the day. I usually do a double draw and that is almost one double draw per minute. I don't think any vertical genisis with a natural fiber wick can handle that.
I used a CE5 with hemp and a clone Ody each with two threads of 2mm hemp.
