have helped the 'little' other things that as we age get to us. e.g. I used to have to work at getting my hands to move when waking up. They always needed rubbing and had pain before I could work the stiffness out.

wv :)

Hey wv, there's something I wish you'd try for your hands (but is good for elbows, knees, etc.) and its called Boudreaux's .... Paste (Blairex Laboratories Inc. Health Care Products and Dietary Supplements). Ibuprofen is hard on the stomach and should only be taken with food. This stuff is just a cream you rub in and looking at the ingredients I can't see any reason it should stop joint pain, but it does. I've used it for years and it sure beats taking pills.

The place I go to only costs 20 to see the doc. Its a good clinic with a good doc. You should have something like that in your area as well.

You are lucky. You would be surprised at how many areas don't offer anything like that. We have a Free Clinic in my area that do not take new patients and haven't for years. I am thankful to have good insurance. My son is self employed and can not afford insurance. It is very expensive if he has to go to the doc for anything.
Fingers take a long time to heal but they do eventually. I had surgery on my hand last year (trigger finger) and it is slowly getting painful again. The doc told me that most likely I will need surgery again. The worst part is that it is my right hand (I am right handed).

They had to shut down the totally free clinic because it wasn't getting enough funding. I wonder what people with no money at all are doing health care?
Fingers do take a long time to heal and what really sucks is when you keep bumping it on things. I drilled my finger at this one job and even though it was in a finger brace I hit it on everything. Same when I broke my ring finger. Both of these are on my left hand which I am left handed. It makes it very interesting doing things when your bound up.

folks with no oinsurance at all are using the emergency rooms in non-profit hospitals for routine care. they do it all the time here in Tucson, doesn't matter if you are in the country legally or not they still take you in. Our emergency rooms are swamped 24 hours a day with people better suited to see a general practitioner as opposed to clogging our er's

That's the way I use to do it when I didn't have any money. It stinks to have to do it that way, but when your poor and sick there aren't many options. Im glad that we have our clinic and pharmacy. We just had Kats new seizure meds filled for no pay. I would hate to think of what we would of how much they would have cost otherwise. Some can cost as high as 1500 for a months supply. If these work for her like they have been then all she has to do is get signed up with the pharm company and they will send her a three month supply each time she needs a refill. Luckily my meds are ten bucks for three month supply. Again, every state needs places like these, or some type of medical card with the hospital where there is only a certain amount having to be paid to be seen.

Lol I should have them change my name to that on here.

Thanks. I totally gave it the workout on monday walking around Walmart dodging grumpy people, and wanting to put it up some peoples :censored:. They were right that I would get really sore. Didn't help that we had to get the car unstuck and I found out that I don't have great balance on it yet. Lol all in all I think its getting broken in. I like the memory foam, but I am thinking that it may need just a little more padding where I stand on it.

Hi TT,
I just now saw this post. Thanks and I will go look it up. My drs are monitoring my intake of ib just for the reasons you stated. I hope I will slow down on them when the weather warms a little. The cold really makes them much worse. They can't decide if I have RA or not. 2 tests were positive and 2 were neg. I guess that is why the drs are called practicing physicians.....they ain't got it right yet!

You know what? I was afraid you didn't believe me after all the tall tales and I'd just kinda shrugged it off LOL. I'm not going to bore everyone with my medical history, but I was in a situation where I couldn't hardly walk anymore. Needed knee replacements and they couldn't do that because of other problems.

An old, old lady that we kind of keep an eye on told me to get to WalMart and get some of that Boudreaux's .... Paste and rub it on my knees. She said if I did it I'd be walking again the same day.

I looked up this stuff later on the internet, and heck, it was a paste to put on babies with diaper rash, so I blew it off. A couple days later I was trying to get from our living room to the kitchen and it was all I could do to make it. My wife said that was enough and she was going to get that Paste the old lady had told us about.

Long story short - she got it, I tried it and I was outside running around that afternoon. Since then I've been able to build my knees and legs up with exercise and only use it now when the pain is a little too much. I'm not one who believes in quick fixes, hocus pocus or fad medicine. I just know it stops the pain and there is nothing harmful in it.

Like I said, looking at the ingredients (and I have a bit of a medical background courtesy of the US Navy), I can't see any reason in the world that this stuff would do what it does. It just does. Try it and see if it works for you. At the worst you'll be out two or three bucks.
