agree with everyone about the batts, do not use them if you decide to go subΩ on a rba/rda setup. It's a pretty good mech and performs well out of the box. Sand the contact points to reveal the brass underneath and it vapes awesome.
I have the K-101 which is the same mod with a different outer sleeve design. I bought the unit only as I wasn't fond of the supplied batteries. It is a really nice , affordable mechanical. Depending on what you are using for a juice delivery system, sanding the contact points is optional as it performs pretty well even with the plated contacts.
I did sand my contacts after using it stock for a week just to see what the difference would be.
Icyice - I used 400 grit to sand the contacts. Some members put a socket in the tube to hammer out the pressfit top section for easier access. I just cut a piece of sandpaper and dropped it down inside the tube and moved it around with a pencil (eraser side against the sandpaper) and looked at it once in awhile and continued until finished. For the switch contact, you can disassemble it if you like or just unscrew the switch, unlock it, press it in with your thumb like you are firing it and use your fingers to press the spring down. That will give you enough room to sand. As to the center pin top part where the atty contacts, I'm still working on a decent solution.

The K100 was my very first mech, and I ran it with the supplied batteries with no issues. Probably not the best, but still.
I think you won't be disappointed. The K100 is sturdy and cheap enough that you won't feel any pain if you drop it (unless you drop it on your feet). It's one of my out and abouts topped with an evod or a Protank.
I am not familiar with mods at all... need to do my research... so, if I ordered the MOD kit, do I need extra accessories? Like an EVOD bottom coil clearo? I'm totally confused!

If you use an evod you will need to purchase a 510 to Ego adapter to use it on the K100. Dont forget. Evod is a good choice and dont forget to get eliquid too.. and the adapter 510-ego threads.. let me add, if you use a protank you wont need the adapter.. But get one anyways. They always come in handy..
Hard to advise you without knowing which kit you actually ordered. If its the one from Fasttech, then they come with 2 cartos and a drip shield. Which would be enough to get you vaping.
I personally like the Evods and Protanks, but really any clearo will work on the k100.
