Quick clarifier: Clearly I have significantly less experience than Clyde and very much look forward to his observations, opinions and review.

What I meant, in my post above, and should have been more clear (thus this clarifier) is that the answers to your questions about specific (component) details in this mod are included in my post. My intent is not, and was not, to in any way imply that my opinions should be considered (especially in any way relative to Clyde's).

Clyde, I hold you and your reviews in highest regard and, again, look forward to your review. :toast:

No offense taken, bro. S'all good.

Nice review, by the way. Looking forward to your extended review in a couple of weeks or a month.

BTW, Kaji informed me he's doing a special 510 to 901 adapter that has the extra copper piece included. Got some spare 901's in the house, so I'm looking forward to see how it vapes on them.

 that IS my extended! I have had the mod for over a month.

I have the special adapters and find they work flawlessly (for me). I posted, today - in that thread, my follow-up on the 801 adapter. So, unless Kaji is making a new adapter - I find them all to work very well (with the one caveat that the 801 lacks the consistently visible confirmation of the 510 and 901). But it works every time for me, so far.

Can't wait for your review. so many of them are so much FUN! :D Mine is a bit dry (and long) but detail specific thorough ;)

My mistake. It was very knowledgable and detailed, I should have guessed it was an extended use review. I probably need to make mine a little more objective, but my sense of humor can't be suppressed.

Oh, how does the 801 work on the kaji? I LOVED it on the Reo: not the best throat hit, but very, very tasty.

Been vaping Kaji's box* exclusively for 48 hours now. My expectations have been met, and exceeded.

First of all, hitting the LR 510 with a drip or two of juice if priming the bottle doesn't take away a burnt taste seems to work. Props to Sterno for providing that tip. I guess it's part of the seasoning process for that atty.

I can also see why everyone's into the LR attys these days. The vape and TH is pretty darned near HV territory. HVish awesomeness plus 18550 battery life equals more awesomeness! Being the nicotine addicted vape monkey that I am, I expected to pop the atty with my heavy use. Despite it getting pretty darned hot, it's held in there.

I'm all but ready to declare that this little puppy is leakproof. I have tried to flood this, and can see juice coming out of the brass atty connection, but it is sucked back in as soon as I can release the bottle. Okay, I'm a little impressed.

The juice delivery system on this mod (i.e., plastic piping in the bottle going to a copper pipe which fits inside the bottom of the atty) does a spectacular job. No flooding, waste or leaks. It is so efficient that it almost offsets my concerns about the tiny 3ml juice bottle this mod uses; it can just about get me through most of the day.

The trade off of this system is that the bottle is a bit harder to refill or replace than other bottle fed 3rd gens like the CJB, Reo, or MkV. With the Kaji, you have to pull the plastic tubing out of the bottle, refill it, and thread the tubing back into the tip before you screw the bottle back into its container. If I had to do that more than once a day, it would be a deal killer for me, but the efficiency of the mod almost makes up for it.

I'd almost rather the unit be a bit bigger to accommodate a 6 or 10 ml bottle with the same feeding system, but lighter vapers will probably find it adequate. But why not have a 2 day bottle to go with its 2 day battery?

The other thing I'm trying to determine is if the Kaji has a self juicing effect with a full bottle like my other bottle fed 3rd gen mods; i.e., inhaling on the mouthpiece will draw enough juice into the atty to make bottle priming unnecessary. I THINK it does, but am not sure-it may be that the act of putting the bottle back on squeezes it enough to inadvertently feed enough juice for it to work at first.

Self juicing will be the next big breakthrough of 3rd gens and may even be enough to call them their own generation of vapes (4th gens). That's probably what I love the most about the GG AFS family: air pressure and inhaling draws enough liquid in to vape automatically without squeezing a bottle or primer puffs. It's enough of a feature to offset its relatively complicated setup and occasional leaking and seepage problems. If someone could invent a mod that is self juicing and functions as a automatic battery first gen; suck on the mouthpiece and get a perfect vape without even pressing a button, it will be one helluva game changer.

I wonder if a soft sided juice bottle in an airtight connection would be a big step in that direction. Sort of like sticking a straw into a kid's juice pouch where most of the juice can be extracted by sucking on the straw and not squeezing the pouch.

Oh well, time to take the Kaji with me to the office today. Wish us luck, okay?

*Yes, I know Kaji calls it the 'Journeyman' now. But it was the Kaji box when I got mine. Deal with it.

I may have just popped my LR510 this morning. Damn. Guess I'll order some spares here in the next couple of days when I pick up some other supplies.

Considering how hard I hit a mod, and how hot it got, I'm surprised that it lasted as long as it did. May have to stick in a regular 510 to see how it does.

I just attended the NorCal Meet and Greet vaping shindig and WON that's right won a Kaji.

This is the only box mod I have ever used. Sort of like the only car I drive is a Mercedes. (old, time tested diesels are the best).

The Kaji is a work of art is in the same class. Tough, dependable and long lasting. Just like any good design, it's form follows its function.

You might see videos of someone using one, or pictures like in this thread but until you have one and begin using it, you won't be aware of what you're missing.

We are in the final phase of testing, and are still evaluating how we will sell these. Once we hear back from all of our testers, we should be ready to go (should be in a week or two). The model that Clyde is currently testing, is a final design, but we have changed the manufacturing process on the atomizer connector on our latest models to ensure no leaking or seeping (we eliminated the o-ring and went with a epoxy as a sealer instead).

The boxes need to be made out of very hardwood, due to its size and the dimensions we are using (specifically the sides of the box) so we do not compromise strength by using woods that do not have the right characteristics. We have tested many different hardwoods and have gotten different results.

We would love to get some information on what people would like. Here is what we are thinking.

Option 1:We want to offer our main product as Yellowheart with Padauk ends (as pictured above). These seem to have the best combination of strength, grain and contrast we are looking for.

Option 2:We also want to offer custom wood selections that meet the criteria above. Some other woods that we feel would meet them are Purpleheart, Cherry, Koa, etc, in addition to yellowheart and padauk. These would cost a little more (basically the difference in cost of material).

Option 3:We also want to offer painted ones for people that do not like the look and feel of wood. These would again cost a little more than our standard ones. This is due to the additional manufacturing steps and cost of paint. These would still need to be made out of a very hardwood, we then fill the grain with filler, sand, paint (3 coats), then polyurethane (3 coats). All of this is done with professional painting equipment (no cans or brushes).

We will also be testing 801 and 901 native bottom feed systems shortly.

So tell us what you want, types of wood, color, etc and we will start looking at them.

don't quote me on this and excuse me if i sound silly, but recently i have been hearing alot about the use of bamboo (apparently they make planks out of them as well) as a eco friendly and cost effective substitute for wood. if it could work it will make a a very appealing combination -save ur health and save the planet!
