So hey there. A few times over the last year plus, I've had a short in my KFLplus. I'm assuming im using the correct terminology here. It's when the terminal block shifts. I really, really tighten the pin, while keeping the block in place and this seems to help for quite a while. I also am OCD about not having any wire touching any metal too. Am wondering if I need to get a new insulator for this one. Anyone else have this occasional problem?

I've noticed when building my KFL (not a plus) that when I tighten down that center pin it will spin the metal block just a bit where it could touch the other block. I put something inbetween when tightening to ensure they don't touch. I haven't had it short yet but I haven't had mine that long and I don't touch that screw once it's tightened down.

Yes, I just tighten it up like you described. Only had to do it a couple times. Fairly common with KFL owners.

I added an O-ring to the center post and it made the screw more secure. Try one of the Orings that came with those tiny screw drivers.

The next time I disassemble it I will try the oring. So I remove the center post, slide on the oring and reinsert the center post? Thanks!

Yes you take out the existing insulator, add the O-ring, then put back the insulator. At the same time you can align the two airholes on the post and on the base. That will reduce the whistling problem.

Bronze made we several perfect 1.5 ohm coils. I'm just trying to duplicate them. I'm sure one day I will. Besides one leak my svoemesto has been perfect.
I made a little 2.4mm coil maker today from scraps in my shop, works like a charm turning coils.

If DIY is not for you then the Coil Master works well.

I think you could market those coil makers of yours. Plus they're made in the good ole..mmmmm.....Canada. Seriously, great idea.

Thanks for the ideas about my intermittent shorting. I was a bit cautious not to put too much elbow grease into the tightening but you guys gave me the courage. I have such respect for these well machines devices that I sometimes treat them a bit too gently. Cheers!

Thanks but there are too many commercial coil tools out there for cheap, you really cant compete with $2 from FT. ;)

No gentle treatment required as Kayfun parts are readily available.
FatDaddy Vapes sells rebuild kits for $9 if you ever snap or break a piece.

He also sells just the positive terminal and insulator for $5

I never get it right using the coiler with 28 gauge wire. The loops invariably wind up on top of each other. Or else the screw gets caught in the the wire coming out of the hole. What am I doing wrong?

EXCUSE ME...
***ATTENTION MODERATORS***
The word m-a-n-t-r-a (or its plural m-a-n-t-r-a-s), is NOT a foul word in ANY sense.
PLEASE REMOVE IT FROM THE CENSORED LIST.
Classwife, Robino1...I've had that word (and its plural) censored from three posts now...why?!?
It's a word I use in everyday life, and it's a little ridiculous that it would be censored...
